If I had to pick something now, I really want an unseen Marauder, Rifleman and Archer from BattleTech.
I've got versions of all of those from later releases, and already have my fav Inner Sphere BTech 'Mech (unseen Warhammer), but those other three ones in their original form are ones I would really like.
Thing is I never find someone selling all three at once.

Interesting question, though I like the answers. I'm not actually chasing any models at the moment, as the stuff that I'm recurringly interested in keeps popping up on eBay whenever I peek around. I guess my tastes aren't niche enough, or my luck is good enough to get what I really want at a reasonable enough price. .

Mine was more of an army. Over the years I've finally pieced together a decent 60 man (give or take) strong Mordian force, mostly with actual Mordians, though I do have a few victoria minis splashed in there because I don't want to have to cut pewter to make plasma gunners.

Yep. that's the one. Mine still has a laspistol. Not that she can take a laspistol, of course, because No Model No Rules, but I always put it down to her just being an exceptionally good shot.
I have a whole bunch of rogue trader stuff knocking around too, but I don't think any of it's particularly "Rare" at this point.
I used to have a whole Warhammer Fantasy Dogs of War army, that had all sorts of limited edition stuff in it, but I gave in and sold it all when GW blew up the setting and them with it.

I shelved my DoW when they stopped supporting DoW, but I'm still planning to finish off the last few minis that I own, just to be "done" with them in case we ever play Classichammer again.

Thanks! My memory is terrible these days!
It's not that the sculpts were technically amazing, they didn't have the anatomical perfection of something by JAG or Alan C, but they, more than any other figures, captured the art of Blanche perfectly.
Another holy grail model that I picked up recently deserves a mention, the Forge Word Incarnate Elemental of Beasts. It was only available for a relatively small window (presumably something to do with the molds?), so any time that it pops up on ebay it goes for silly money.
I was fortunate enough to get it for cheap because the seller's listing made no mention of it in the title!

Yeah, I have a rule not to sell stuff that I've worked on. I can always get money back, but I can never get the time back.

Ooh... that's some great stuff. Some got redone, like Mengil, but a lot didn' t, like Scarloc's Archers and the Gargoyles. I kinda want the Gargoyles, or rather, I wanted GW to redo them for 6E-7E.

Mine would be the old-style Emperors Champion, 20th Anniversary Crimson Fist, FW Reaver Titan, Thunderbolt Pilot, Reaver Princeps and the Ork Runt-Bot, which is probably my favourite just because of how weird it is.

Due to this thread, I dug out my Games Workshop 2004/2005 Catalog and Hobby Reference tome. Of the things within, I kinda want more of the Daemonhunter Inquisitor minis. Specifically Cherubs and Sages, which I could use more of as window dressing. They're such nice models. OTOH, I've spent enough on eBay as it is... Automatically Appended Next Post: Togusa wrote:The Chaos Planet Killer ship from the old BFG. I would love to do a space diorama between them and a combination Imperial/ SM fight.
Ha! I bought and sold that thing twice, finally deciding I just didn't play BFG enough to want to keep it. Ace model, though!

Did Fulgrim Just Behead Ferrus?
|
I'm not sure I really have a "holy grail" miniature. There are certainly lots of things I want, but nothing I truly feel I need in order to make my collection "complete", so to speak. I suppose I would say a Thunderhawk, as an iconic centerpiece model of my space marine army, would be one (particularly the old metal one, like the OP mentioned). Another one would be a customized Fulgrim to match the alternative sculpt that Forgeworld never released.

Up until recently, it was the Marauder Miniatures giant, for less than the stupid amounts that I see people asking for it. Managed to snag one last month for $40. Still would like to get an Armorcast Gargant and a Phantom titan.

Holy Grail Mini's?
Let's see for Battletech:
Battledroids Archer, BattleAx, Battlemaster, Marauders (both with oval and hex bases), the Behemoth (Yes.. the one that looks like the Macross MAC II), Falcon, Bombardier, Cestus, Crossbow, Fire Bee, Gladiator, Hornet, Locust, Rifleman, Vulcan, Wolverine, Demolisher, Hunter, Striker and Vedettes. I am missing a few of the original items...
All of the designated Unseen 'mechs and LAM's from the 3025 TRO's...
As for 40k... the female Commissar (I think I have a second one floating about somewhere)... Gaunt's Ghosts... the Rogue Trader Harlequin set, complete with Solitaire (a friend of mine traded me that for my Mechanicus I was selling)...
I am sure I have a few other things floating about...

Some of mine that come to mind:
Rogue Trader Tyranid Warrior (metal version of the old "turkey" plastic Warriors, would make a nice Prime for my plastic turkey!).
More Tyranids Armorcast (got my first one last year in the Exocrine, wouldn't mind one or two more for variety and nostalgia ).
Forgeworld Incarnate Elemental of Flame (with the death of Fantasy I'm not actively looking for it, but maybe one day I'll try to get one).
And one I managed to get for cheap a few years ago; the Empire Bright Wizard from the army box
|
Fantasy armies - Retired (Tomb Kings, Vampires, Empire, Chaos Warriors/Daemons, Dark Elves)
Tyranids army - Ever evolving, but about 10k pts
Custodes - 3,500pts (Fully painted yay!)
Thousand Sons - 4,000 pts
Eldar - 3,000pts |
