Men of Bronze stops at Phillip's defeat of the Greeks. However, in a pinch, you could do it as there are rules for Macedonian style Phalangites however, you might need to tweak to some for the later Successor units.

However, I am working with Osprey (not completely finalized yet as it depends on how well Men of Bronze sells ) on a game in the successor period next. It has some rules in common with Men of Bronze, but some unique rules as well to help capture the scale and style of the conflicts in that period.

Got my copy as well! All looks good, and I'm going to try the rules using DBA bases as a test.

Funny that the Irregular War blog points out the use of phalanges instead of phalanxes! Though I think that's just a little bit of the charm of Osprey rulesets.

Some folks pointed out to me that I had some areas I could expand on with additional army lists that were not in the book. Specifically in Sicily, Magna Graecia, and the parts of Greece North of Thebes.

I agree! Those are lush areas to dig into. Therefore, I worked up some detail on the Sicilian Wars and sent it to Osprey to potentially add as Downloadable content on their Gaming Resources page.

The game is just out and I am all ready working on expanding it!

Thought you were including Sicily originally as I remember chatting with you about it, any news on when/if the expansion will be put up? Is Kyrenaika in it? Cant believe I am still waiting for the distributor to get my copy.

Have the rules and have played a couple of solitaire games particularly the first two historical. Looking forward to playing with regular game buddies to honestly assess them but looks like they will be lots of fun.
Well done! Like the idea of successor expansion.

I just managed to listen to Meeples and Miniatures Episode 267 where they discuss Men of Bronze. Overall, I think it is a fair and nuanced review.

If you are thinking about the game and are unsure about if you want to buy it, give it a listen.....

I have started doing some on Thessaly.....

Some folks have also asked about Pre-Phillip's reform Macedonians and Thracians, but I know next to nothing about that at the moment. If you have some resources to point me towards, I will take closer look at it.

However, these expansion list may be a bit of a side project as Osprey has me working on a couple of other projects now too.

Nice one, anything you can/want to share?
On pre Phillipian Macedonia and Thrace, I cant think of anything really relevant. Most works on Alexander detail Phillip's reforms so working back from there but otherwise I only recall them cropping up for a line or two (ie. Herodotus) and the same with Thrace. So outside the Cambridge Ancient History and Warry I cant recall anything.

Might be tricky, Illyrians get a brief mention in Alexander's war against them and do really appear again till Strabo do they? Brief mentions on the periphery of things... Should be easy enough to field though, basically Iphicratean reform style peltasts and light armed levy.

I would have to check but memory tells me that in the pre-Roman period they were mostly known for their javelin men and during the Roman period they were known largely as pirates, using small unsailed gallies (Lembus). I am sure that they would have had a body of armoured soldiers but whether they fought as as Hoplites or heavy Peltasts I cant recall (but suspect the latter), their cavalry was certainly lighter than the Thessalain (that became the Macedonian standard) though. For the early period it is worth checking Arrian and Plutarch, for the latter Polybius. I dont recall Heroditus going that far west.

Warry didn't tell me too much at this point. However, Nic at the Irregular Warfare blog seems to have some ideas.

I might need to build a new upgrade for these heavier Peltasts as the Thessalians seemed to use a peltast with a Hoplon (large round shield) as opposed to the Thracian style crescent Pelte shield. Currently, I don't have a great way to mimic that in my troop types in the book.

As for other Osprey projects, I have some more Ancients work and some Aeronef related projects in the works. We'll see what happens.

Referencing the Pelinna coins? Or another source? Hard to imagine a peltast fighting efficiently with a hoplon as it would be one hell of a hinderance, same argument as Alexander's foot companions not being Holpites based upon how they were used though their being sarrissa armed phalangites is equally implausible...

I don't speak or read German, but apparently this guy makes the case, and it is not the first time I have read it.

Saal, Patrick - Das Thessalische Militär, eine Domäne der Kavallerie?, Bachelor Thesis for the Helmut Schmidt University 2009, Dept of History, GRIN Verlag GmbH, Norderstedt 2010

I have a feeling this maybe a minority view, as Xenophon references Hoplites. However, ancient Greek definitions were less strict than our "modern" classifications. Plus, the half-armor Hermithorakion was made popular with officers in Thessaly by Jason of Pherea, so the armament of these non-cavalry "heavy" soldiers has become more interesting.

Here is a consolidated group of links for the new Army Lists I built for Men of Bronze:

Syracuse/Sicillian Greeks- https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2019/12/men-of-bronze-greeks-vs-carthage.html

Carthage-
https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2019/12/men-of-bronze-greeks-vs-carthage.html

Thessaly-
https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2019/11/men-of-bronze-thessaly-army-list.html

Pre-Reform Macedonia-
https://bloodandspectacles.blogspot.com/2019/12/men-of-bronze-pre-reform-macedonia.html

I think the only one left is to re-evaluate a list for Thrace and possibly Magna Graecia. I suppose in a pinch you could use the Syracusan list as they are part of Magna Graecia, but I am thinking more about Cumae in Southern Italy.
