How much do you weigh now? You don't need to be a monster to get close to bodyweight x3. I've squatted 220 at 82kg and currently deadlift 190 at 75kg - I'm very lean but I'm not very big - Size S almost all the time!

I weigh 80kg and currently deadlift 155kg ORM(full lockout, double overhand) . I only started deadlifting properly last year so I'm happy with the progress so far. My grip is starting to affect how much I can pull though so I've been doing fat bar lifts, plate pinches, grippers etc to try and improve it. My target is 180 to 200kg

Ugh. Grip/forearm exercises are the worst. I do a six minute routine on them that's horrible but at least it's six minutes then I go home.

Time for OH/UH and straps! Even if you really want to make c.200 with double overhand and full raw, training OH/UH and with straps with massively improve your power whilst your working on strengthening the grip separately, so once your hands can handle it you'll already be much stronger in the posterior chain. Maybe worth a try?

I've always done a lot of sport since I was 6-7yo. After high school I stopped playing football and dedicated to the gym. I go 4 times a week.

I'm one of those guys who are into the fitness lifestyle thing, so going to the gym quite often helps me relaxing, even if my workout is pretty hard, focussed on body building.

Diet is also more important than workout, it's about 60/40 if not even 70/30. Training hard and eating badly ends up in zero results. A well balanced diet plus some training will give you a decent result to start with.

Mind that it takes years to become fit, and I'm not referring to Schwarzenegger's levels of muscles.

Used to be a squaddie so fitness was kind of drilled into me and I used to run cross-country competetively. I'm 53 now but exercise in some form every day. Don't go to a gym but have weights & bench at home (and "use" them ... that's the key part right there ).

I go running pretty much every day (I work weird hours, if I'm working at all). I had a really bad back about 15 years ago and tried out "front-foot running" (I think it's called? You basically run on your toes). Takes some getting used to and absolutely kills your calf muscles at first, but I kept at it and it's been a life changer. Calves of steel FTFW!

When I first got back to UK 2 years ago and found myself in SE London I was a bit concerned about running what with all the traffic, as I hate running alongside busy roads, but it's surprising (to me) just how many parks and riverside paths etc. are available.

Throw straps on and you'd probably pull 170-180 range. 2x bodyweight double overhand (I assume you don't mean hook) is very solid. A couple things about the deadlift and ORM's in general.

1) Gaining weight generally increases your one rep max on a given lift
2) Deadlift is the least improved lift by bodyweight
3) There is a 'sweet spot' where increasing your weight and LBM will continue to improve your bodyweight ratio on lifts (think a 60kg lad squatting 120kg going up to 80kg and squatting 200kg since he's not skin and bones anymore), but after a point (generally over 100kg depending on height) the opposite becomes true.

And pulling 240 at 80 is totally feasible.

Not solely neurotransmitters, but pretty much everything with neural conductivity and in-muscle signal propagation.

A tip for all those of you who "get nothing from excercises" - if you still want to find out why/how people enjoy excercise, try yoga, tai-chi (especially tai chi with a sword), calistenics or rehabilitation programs directly focused on proprioception and residual muscle tension, as those (when done properly i.e. with proper cocontraction and controlled static movement) increase nervous system response to muscle contractions and overall body awareness, which, if impaired, result exactly in lacking any pleasure feeling from excercises. I've been on and off such condition few times in my life due to my chronic desease and I know of plethora of other conditions, even mild or slight ones (endocrinological, neurological, postural, pharmacological), which impair this feedback and control mechanism (being overweight is one of them), but the mechanism itself is excercisable. In fact, if you have your neuroconductivity impaired anyhow to an extent that affects workout, then trying to excercise properly causes intensely unpleasant neurological strain at first (not to be mistaken with muscle pain). So if you do not specifically focus on such excercises, you won't do them by chance, your body will actively avoid them or simply not know how to perform them (that is the core point here). It takes couple of months of methodical training to overcome this and things like light jogging or selectorized workout on gym machines are useless for this.

Forearm exercises are horrible but having big forearms looks impressive. I made a rope handle so I could do the wrist twist pull thing with a plate on the end

I think I have a few more kilos I can pull before I switch to mixed grip on the deadlift, but it will be coming up soon. I currently use chalk for grip on my ORM.

Yeah I've never tried hook grip on DL, although I have been working it into my lat pulls to see if I could use it as a technique.

Highly recommend hook grip, especially if you are worried about potential bicep strain using mixed grip. Takes some time until your thumbs get used to being under that much pressure but it works if you are consistent with it.

Probably work

I was working out pretty aggressively for a while. I am now dealing with costochondritis, which is easily on the short list of things not to cause yourself.

I'll probably start working out again, eventually, maybe.

I do, usually every other day and it's mostly strength for my job and to be able to pick up heavy things easily. So half of my reason is work related the other half is vanity lol.

I work out to stay fit and I try to do my best to get rid of fat cells. I keep on a healthy diet + run every morning. My trainer advised me to try cool sculpting procedures. It helps to lift the skin and get rid of cellulite all over body. I think I'll follow his advice. Besides I've already found cool MedSpa NYC clinic with good reputation.

Some info that's neglected in fitness circles, is that if you're running, you also need to do strength work too. Your legs have the equivalent of 150% of your bodyweight going through them (individually) with every footfall while running, so you should be able to single leg press that equivalent weight (aswell as other leg and core strengthening) to avoid injury from running as you get older.

Near Jupiter.

I think also, if you have been unhealthy or overweight most of your life, it potentially could be very dangerous to suddenly become a fitness addict because your body wont be able to cope with sudden changes it has never expected. Like i have herd of alot of story's of joggers dying while jogging.

So in other words as strange as it sounds, its better in alot of cases to take it extremely slow and easy like i stated earlier.

It is inflammation of the cartilage in your ribs. Supposedly it can feel like a heart attack: Chest pains that can extend down your left or right arm along with shortness of breath. I've had two EKGs and a few blood tests in the meanwhile to make sure that it isn't actually a heart issue, and thankfully at least it isn't that. It lasts for 'weeks to months', but some people claim they've had it for years. I'm about 6 months in, and it's finally going away for the most part. There's stretches (mostly pectoral) that you can do that are supposed to help that I have been doing. I can't say they've made the difference, but they never feel bad to do.

Since I'm not exercising, I've still been taking long walks and I've converted my computer desk to be at standing height. I figure that since I spend about 12 hours there a day, I should probably do something about the sitting problem.

Nope. I'm lazy.

I don't really have any reasonable defense for being lazy, I just am. I don't enjoy trying to overcome physical difficulty and I've somewhat accepted that my lifespan will be somewhat below the average.

Yep, though I don't consider myself the fitness type. I do it to keep in shape ever since I discovered small triangular man boobs on my chest one day. I was working as a camp cook it the middle of nowhere in 30 below weather. That's celsius friends. So going outside was not high on the list. Thankfully they had a gym there so I started hitting the bricks and turned my man tits into man pecs!

Now I do a few push-ups and sit-ups every day, throw some freeweights around. Call it good. I think it's silly to get so beefcaked you can't move your arms properly. How is that attractive? I think that's just really vain.

Also, ladies like a fit man. Plus it helps in a fight to know that you're capable. Especially if you have to fight a woman! Definitely don't want to lose a fistfight to a woman...

I also have a huge dragon tattoo on my stomach and while the joke was that as I got fatter so too would my dragon, as a sort of symbol of my wealth and power, I'm not quite so old that I am ready to let that happen so... Sit-ups it is!

Started running in January with the aim of getting a bit fitter. Wasn’t overweight but not super fit either plus thought it would up my game for getting back in to airsoft.
So now I run in my lunch breaks 3 times a week. Can manage about 5 k each time before I run out of time, it’s bloody hard work but have only been doing it for 7 wks.

Also do some free weight work in the evenings a few times a wk. Trouble is now I eat like a horse, all this calorie burning makes me hungry all the time.

Plus running gives me the bonus of getting out af a stressful workplace to shake it off. On a side note weirdly enough started running in the rain and cold plus some snow and this wk have been running in 17 degrees in February and yes I live in the southwest uk.....

I started working out on a regular basis 4 years ago and - as cliché as it sounds- ist has been the best decision ever!
I enjoy the feeling and the sense of accomplishment I get from it.
It is also a great way to vend anger and frustration.

As a added bonus: It is always funny to be a muscular nerd

I go 5-6 days a week (sometimes twice a day and do stretching and cardio in the morning, heavy lifting in the afternoon)

I train for power lifting (and moving into strongman) competitions though so I likely over train a bit. But its what keeps me sane.

Yep I’m trying to keep up with strength work but can’t say I really enjoy it as much as getting out for a run. It’s definitely something I need to work harder at.
