I have 6 Kurnoth Hunters that I was in the process of painting and now legitimately can't find them.

It's been vexing me for a damn month.

I lost RTB01s, Rogue Trader, 2nd and 3rd edition everything, an entire tau 3rd army, an entire eldar army, and entire 600 model strong ork army started in the Rogue Trader era and played up through 3rd with 2 kustom battle wagons, an entire old-skool tyranid army, Gorka Morka (loved that game), Mordheim stuff (awesome and BEST specialist game ever by GW), 1st edition space hulk, and Space Marine (the predecessor to epic).

So LOTS. Had some hard times in life and even spent time in a place with toxic water and maggots raining from the ceiling. The 40k stuff got lost along the way through hell.

Oh yeah and an Empire army for WHFB.

A lot, I could never replace. I am trying hard as I have more unopened boxes than most GW Hobby Centers. But I still have yet to get back round to my orks.

Fortunately not managed to lose too much. I have recently dug out my old Space Crusade box and have started painting that up, and I seem to be missing all but one of the androids which is rather annoying.

Also have an old metal Dwarf Goblobber but I'm buggered if I can find the crew for it, and had the Dragon Company dwarf regiment of renown but most of the troopers for it seem to have gone walkies... :(

Lost

A flight of the original metal dwarf gyrocopters, no idea what happened to them

copies of the Slaves to Darkness & Lost and the Damned books too (my mind whispers water damaged but I don't really remember)

Sold when I needed the money

far too many unpainted metal minis from my original collecting in the late 80s early 90s (so glad I kept hold of anything I painted)

Lots of old white dwarfs (I miss the near complete run from 20-100, not so much the rest) and other gaming magazines

Borrowed and never returned

Heroquest (now replaced but it's not quite the same)

I was reminded of another story!

Years and years ago I had gotten one of the FW Thunderbolt Pilots courtesy of a friend who attended an event. I had him out in my spray booth in the garage drying before I went to start putting paint to model...came back after forgetting to put the garage door down and the model was gone. There were squirrel footprints on the newspaper where there had been overspray drying as well.

So somewhere in my neighborhood, there's a squirrel with a damn Thunderbolt Pilot in a nest. I keep an eye out whenever tree branches fall ruining those nests to see if there's a Pilot ever coming down too but so far no joy!

I've regretted every model lost. Which includes...
Epic armies of marines and Orks - gave away or threw away, can't remember
D&D Ral Partha models - lost
Undead army - sold to a friend
Dwarf army - sold to same friend
Space Wolf army - gave away
2 x sets of Battlemasters - gave away
Heroquest - unknown
Space Crusade plus expansions - unknown
Badly painted guard tanks - thrown away (If only I knew what I know now!)

I now keep everything!

This one's easy.

A few years ago after a bit of a hike in my life budget, coupled with a massive distaste with 8th WFB and 6th 40K along with a slow down in my work schedule, I sold every army I had that wasn't Crimson Fists, High Elves, or Beastmen. My brother held onto his Dark Eldar, Guard, Lizardmen, and Dogs of War. We had almost every army for both systems when the purge happened. Part of the regret was not getting much out of them when they sold. The other part was getting back into 6th Ed. WFB and 3rd Ed. 40K which means now I get to rebuild EVERYTHING.

I regret nothing.

I don't lend models, and I can't think of anything that got lost or stolen.

Of the stuff I've sold and traded, none of it is anything that I feel bad about.

around ten years ago, I was dating a woman who was interested in 40k a bit, and we ended up building a huge chaos army, with tons of OOP (even then) stuff. Things go south between us, so she takes the whole thing, which included 70+ Juan Diaz Daemonettes and about 20 seekers.

I have no clue what she ended up doing with it all.

Sold my Tyranids army that had the limited edition closed-claw Lictor.

No.1 regret... Selling my Magic cards. The amount of $$$$ the original sets are worth now is beyond unbelievable. I remember buying some cards for $15.00 that now sell for $1,500.00.

It's not a regret of mine but I also sold off all my cards and I was a completest. I had complete sets of everything up till Ice Age, but had a ton of trouble completing the legends set. I was afraid that it would
take forever and cost a large some to complete the same size set of Ice Age, So I sold everything. A year later at my FLGS I saw a complete set of it for next to nothing. But no regrets, as with anything that
has a variable price you got to know when you are able to let it go and be fine with it.

But I held on to my LE lictor

Instead of losing things, I regret buying things that later found no use. My loss was solely monetary.

- I bought a Land Raider with the intention to convert it into a heavy tank for my Guard. It would use the Macharius Tank ruleset.
I cut the model into pieces and begun converting and building things from plasticard. Steam ran out soon as it did not look as good as I wanted and it was placed on a shelf, where it collected dust for 3 years. Then I sold it to a friend that glued it back together and plays it as a Nurgle Land Raider.

- I also bought a box set of Sisters of the Thorn to make rough raiders out of them, but it had a similar fate as the Land Raider. It got sold to another friend for his Exodite Eldars.

- Same goes with SoBs I bought that lost their heads (literally, I milled them away) to be replaced by new, better ones as the old sculpts' heads are hideous, mostly, but when new sisters were announced, I put them on a shelf once again. Now I found a buyer so... I hope to get at least some money back.

Silly me.

In a similar vein, I definitely regret buying pewter minis that were later made in plastic.

Way back in the dark days of 2014 (IIRC) I sold a sizable Nid army on that there Ebay they have now.

Something had come up at work and I had to rush out early, so I asked my ex-wife to finish taping up the box and take it to the post office. Which she dutifully did.

When I got home, I found out that she'd also inadvertently packed up my OOP Redemptionist gang and sent them along with the Nids. The buyer denied he received them, then a week later had them up for sale on Ebay, who said there was nothing they could do.

They sold for a higher amount than I got for the Nid army, too.

I kinda regret buying stuff that I warehouse for no reason, although the GW stuff has been pretty good at getting me my money back.

I definitely regret buying multi-pose bulk infantry instead of pewter (as bitz) when it was available in the early 00s. If I hadn't bough the excess, I'd have plenty enough monopose metal instead. I like the full 3-D sculpt of metal, the weight, and the ease of getting it playable compared to multipose plastic, esp. multipose hybrid metal & plastic.

My most regrettable sell offs were my SoB army and all the BFG stuff i had. I'd been out of the hobby for years at that point and needed the cash, so onto ebay they went. Miss them dearly since rejoining the hobby.

And the Marines from the AVP box have gone completely AWOL. They were on my work desk one day and then just gone. I suspect my toddler son may have been involved though.

The first purge. Points values are rough estimates.

2.5k Assorted Space Marines.
1k Death Guard, all custom built dudes (see The Encrusty).
Isle of Blood starter set.
Enough other WHFB and assorted minis to play Mordheim for years.
Codices for all my armies from 6th to 7th including rulebooks, as well as HE, Skaven and VC army books and 8th edition FB rulebook.
$300 worth of paint and hobby tools.

All sold to a nice guy in Vancouver who wanted to get into the hobby. Except The Encrusty, they got sold earlier to a guy who was probably boning my girlfriend. I sold it all because I was a wreck after my then fiance (same girl, lol hindsight) decided to move in with a cocaine dealer.
So I was a wreck. Lol. I figured maybe somehow my plastic crack addiction was to blame for her infidelity. She hated that I was a nerd. I was a wreck. The good news is after months of pure hell I discovered I was a pretty capable carpenter! Now I enjoy going to work and even thought about going to school again.

The second purge.

2k World Eaters
1k Primaris Marines
1.5k Beil Tan Eldar
Beastmen starter box
Codices for all my armies for 8th and AoS, plus rulebooks.
Another $200 in paints and hobby tools/supplies.

I had to leave all this stuff behind when my wonderful boss decided to fire me instead of letting me go to physiotherapy after I hurt my back at work. Also I was living in a house he owned. So... Yeah. Had to strap my tool belt over my herniated disc and go find work in the big city. I also lost every other possession I had too but hey. We're talking about hobby stuff.

Now I have two boxes of Tac Marines and a couple GW essentials kits worth of paints. Life is still stupid and hard. I can fill out a battalion. I choose paint schemes that are based on what I have for paints. There is a lot more to both stories but hey. Such is life.

I try to be a nice guy still despite everything. I am getting better at painting checkerboard and I don't have unpainted pile of shame syndrome anymore.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
I'll probably end up losing the Marines too. But hey. I was thinking about going the Primaris Marine route anyway.

OKLAHOMA!!!

Stuff I lost, mostly because an Ex never helped to keep my car out of being towed and all of this stuff was in the trunk at the time.

Most of the WHFRPG 1st edition books.
A complete ACTA B5 Narn Fleet
A ton of Shadowrun 2nd edition books
All of my Warmachine/Hordes stuff, which was back when they did everything in metal.
All of the IKRPG books.

I regret selling off all of my Battle Fleet Gothic stuff a few years back. I had managed to find decent sized Orc and Chaos Fleets for pretty darned cheap.

The only thing I've lost that I regret and which I have no idea where it went is a small Red Venom. The Red Venom being one of the biggest and coolest toys from a series of models that I never really knew the name of but knew there was a small army of (there was also a big grey one that had even more smaller vehicles inside it).
Spoiler:

I never had the big ship, but I did get a smaller one, same style that had a single upper rocket and two mole tubes and a neat little compartment in the middle. I've no idea where it went, never had any clue! Parents insist I lent it to someone at school and then - like all borrowed and lent things - it got forgotten. Which is plausible but it could have gone anywhere.

It's still one of the few things I've lost over the years that I regret even though its likely not half as "amazing" as my memory tells me it was.

(yes I know its not really "hobby" but its as close to a geeky thing I've lost that I really regret)
