My first 2021 project is this here Classic MK I Rhino from the beloved Rogue Trader Era of 40K and the Compendium. You know, and if you don't you might be surprised to find out, back when the Guard had access to Rhinos, Landraiders, and even jump pack equipped assault troopers (and Beastmen, Squats, and other such 'extinct' inventory).

Why all the vox casters you might ask? Well, it's the only way to be sure sometimes... The Guardsman with the vox caster on his back works with the Officer of the Fleet (frankly, he keeps him alive and his cup of coffee full while keeping the Machine Spirits of the vox caster pleased as well...) and brings down the Emperor's Most Holy Wrath down from orbit upon the enemies of Mankind.

Scratchbuilding a sentinel is a nice challenge. Yours turned out very well. The Rhino is a bit easier to build, and such a small model too, compared to everything these days. Ah, back in the day the guard also had landspeeders.

Probably my last 40K papercraft for a while, another Patoroch paper model.

Now that you mention it...

My most recent, mostly paper, entry was for a local game shop contest in January 2022. Theme was 40K:Rogue Trader era deodorant speeder, using Rick Priestly's article as the rules (with slight modification, for modern availability of parts...).

Automatically Appended Next Post:

Turret is a paper Predator MK I turret (Patoroch model), and some bits and pieces from other places (like the Mad Robot Miniatures bits for the Tank Commander/Gunner).

Driver is also Mad Robot Miniatures (Vehicle Crew torso, Classic Tanker head).

Those who know what this is, we can be battle buddies.

I was very much inspired by an old copy of 40K Rogue Trader a friend had, along with the Compendium and a couple other early White Dwarf articles I've found over the years (on and offline).

Once you build one... You need to build more!

Earlier this spring, I finished an Armored Sentinel I like to call "Killer" to compliment the open topped scout "Hunter"
