Yes, very Pirates of the Caribbean. The fire is a great detail.

Oh man that looks fantastic! I like how it's dark inside. A bright or white interior I think might have distracted from the exterior details. Really solid work!

I play...

Sigh.

I like that a lot. It came out great.

1 year, 1 pandemic and multiple job/province/city changes later, I finally got to unpack my hobby stuff and do some painting.

This time I painted up the dwarf and chaos dwarf ships. I wanted to do them together (partly because there was so much silver and gold) but also so there was some cohesion between the models. Both model's silver and gold parts were painted in the same way, I just took the highlights on the 'good' dwarf ship a lot further as if the chaos ship had been somehow dulled by its allegiance to chaos.

Definitely some rust I need to shake off after being away for so long. Multiple areas where I've spilled over the lines and not cleaned up, went way too heavy on the glazes for the "glowing" eyes, and on the dark wash in some areas. But overall I'm happy, and at the end of the day you won't really notice any of that stuff when you see it on the tabletop.

Magnificent! Just in time for Mantic's Armada, where these can serve as stand ins for your Dwarf navy, or the "Kill the Kraken" scenario

A snowy, gross weekend led to some more painting this week! Got three ships done.

Pretty happy with the High Elf ship, I tried to get some glazing done on the sails which didn't work out great in the end, but I learned a lot so it was worth it!

Absolutely love the texture I got on the wings of the dragon. Will definitely be using this kind of technique in future.

Pretty pleased overall with how the wizard genie ship came out. Could have done a better job with the glowing effect on the sails. To be honest I got to the end of the day and rushed this bit to finish. Love how the elemental type beings look. Especially the subtle drybrushed glow effects on the purple dome.

My personal favourite so far is the Tomb Kings ship. I wanted to get this one knocked out real quick so drybrushed a blue straight over the black for a little bit of a marble/stone feel. I think it worked out. Then a few extra little details and it was done! It wasn't until after I had finished the ship that I realised it is basically the same colour as the base! A quick drybrush of green on the waves to border the ship did the trick. I love how it turned out, the green gives it a very mysterious ethereal look.

Love the Tomb Kings ship. Can't wait to see what I can sub it in for, once I get my Empire of Dust Kings of War Armada fleet!

Yeah, the green border on the waves around the ship is a really creepy effect.

realism is a lie

Great update, they all look fantastic, but the guy blowing the sails is genius. I’m not sure the physics would work, but it’s classic Warhammer I think! The green glow on the tomb kings boat it fantastic too

Echo what everyone said about the green glow on the Tomb ship, that's absolutely fantastically done.

See what's on my painting table Now painting: Kruleboyz Gutrippaz

Those last ships are really well done. Great job pulling out all those little details.

Two more. Love how these came out. The Skaven ship came out sickly and gross looking and I think it's a great contrast to the rest.

The Swordfish ship looks awesome. So quick and simple, but effective. Highlights on the body of the ship could have been smoother, but we can't have everything!

The black and yellow scheme is a classic and I love it. I have a copy of Bloodbowl on the way this weekend, and I'm seriously considering doing the nobility team in this black, yellow and silver scheme.

Just two more left to go, the big guys!

Nice! Just in time to challenge someone to a game of Kings of War Armada!

(I hear the ships are around the same size/ scale, approximately)

Awesome work on the black and yellow sails! Will we be getting all of the fleets together for a family photo?

Heldenhammer and Bloody Reaver just finished this weekend! Family photo is on the way, just need to wait for a good day for lighting.

I had a lot of fun painting these guys, but probably the one thing I didn't like is the scale. The ships literally have whole castles on them. Makes it really tricky to get the detail right

Family photos as promised! Will I ever play a real game with these guys? Probably not... But they sure were a load of fun to paint.

That’s a very dangerous looking sea! Great family photo shelman. The bases all work really well with the mat too! Have an Exalt!
