Yea the scale of them, they stand the same height as my guardsmen, and I just can’t get past it. Maybe one day I’ll come back to them, but they behind just about everything else.

Regreted Buying : Those stupid Aggressor Kits, I hate them they look so silly.

Regret not buying : I saw a cheap heavy tank from forgeworld of my favorite pattern the Hellblade from a friend for really cheap but I relented and someone bought it from under me when I was thinking about purchasing it.

Regret Selling : My Entire Rogue Trader Marine Army. I sold off a Predator Tank, the old dreadnoughts, and several amazing figurines that I wish I kept.

Not Regreted rebuying : I kept the entirety of my classic Eldar Collection and was able to buyback most of my former uncle's eldar army before they were pawned after his death. And I've never been happier as i go about repainting the whole army.

Regret buying:
- Forge World's Storm Eagle: Similar issues to Chromedog's valkyrie. I gave it to a friend years ago and it's still in a box.
- Speed Freeks: I should have known I've not got any interest in painting ork vehicles - if only I'd realized BEFORE chopping a few pieces of a sprue here and there for conversions.
- Tooth and Claw: I'm no longer making Genestealer cult and the marines aren't useful for me as I'm overflowing in marines.

Regret not buying:
- A copy of Looncurse (I got half a set and was extraordinarily lucky in that - now I want more of the overpriced Kurnoth Hunters)

Regret selling:
- My nearly fully painted Praetorian Guard army.
- Marauder Miniatures Dark Elves. I bought these once back in 1991? right before a big price rise, and again a decade later from eBay. I had the full set but could never get beyond painting more than a few figures.

I regret buying the Warlord Games Panzer IV kit. I wanted to build the H variant but it can only make a weird G/H hybrid because it only includes an early commander cupola's hatch and front armor plate. I'll just call it a retrofitted late production Panzer G but, still, if I knew the kit would have these obvious inaccuracies I would have bought something else. As for what I regret not buying? Some of the old Cities of Death kits. I wanted to get the Sanctum Imperialis before it got discontinued but, oh well.

Regret Selling: I gave away my entire guard army to a friend. This was during 6/7th Ed. when guard had two really lame codices in a row. I wish I kept them to be allies for my Imperial Knights army.

Most of my regrets come from a desire for variety. Buying a faction to play 1-2 models I think look cool, stuff like that. Some of my regrets come from just having too much in my painting backlog and result in me buying things but not getting to it in time to really enjoy it for the reasons I bought it.

Both are why I've been trying to limit myself to a single faction in a game and generally limited my purchases to things that go to the top of my painting queue.

There is one kit I was super depressed I never got, but glad when I missed my chance.

I've been trying to collect every Armorcast, Epicast, and Forgeworld USA resin model ever made for 40K. I even tracked down the unreleased Knight Paladin from Epicast. (Yes I use it when I play Knights)

About 12 years ago I found a guy wanting to sell one of the unreleased Armorcast Warlord titans. I jumped for joy, as this is basically the Holy Grail of Armorcast models. But then the guy dropped off the face of the Earth and stopped returning emails. About 2 months later I found out this guy was a scammer. He promised the Warlord to at least 3 people, including me. He took payment from the other 2 guys and never sent it to either of them.

There are two things I regret not getting, one more than the other.
First, there are the old storm troopers which I warmed up for only until they were not available anymore. I want to get a similar look using scions and Anvil Industry bits, but still, great models imho.
But the thing I REALLY regret not getting is the Mk IV Ironclad Dreadnought from Forge World. Maaaaan, this is without a doubt my favorite dreadnought chassis. Reaaaaally bummed I did not realise it went oop. Ah well.

One could say I regret buying my old cadian army since I am building up a new IG with Anvil Industry parts but eh, there are worse things.

My regret is primarily the WHFB armies I picked up; high elves, vampire counts and seraphim, as the fact is I will never play them now. Doubly so the elf army, as I had bought a (metal) elf army, sold it (due to frustration with “Herohammer”) and then bought up a replacement a mere couple of months before End Times dropped.

Also, investing into Warmachine and Runewars turned out to be a dud as my friends have sold off their collections.

As for 40K, I sorta regret buying Centurions, mine are still incomplete (bought when first released). Also went a bit overboard with overall marine purchases over the years and wished I had stuck to just a small collection around 1200 pets worth (instead of the 3 companies worth of stuff I’ve accumulated).

On the subject of regretting missing, I wish I had the old 1E space Hulk boxed sets, including Deathwing and Genestealer.

And Aeronautics Imperialis.

It never ends well

I regret not buying Kasrkin.
I also regret that made to order is only a week long. It should be permanent. Made to Order should be available on their webstore, and how it should work is people fun/order their item, and once a certain amount of people put in an order (Like, as soon as they make a profit) then they can start making the models and sending them out. It might take a while to get your models but atleast youll get them.

Man that would be awesome!
I would love to be able to buy all the old rando fantasy generic models they had kicking about 15 years ago. Elementals, giant spiders etc.

A new day, a new time zone.

I can only imagine that would be a real pain to manage. Like, some thing like Kasrkins would probably go fast, but other metal models, someone orders, pays, and it takes months for enough people to buy in to make it worth it. GW then has to manage people who decide they don't want it while waiting and cancel the order, there's no idea how long it will actually take...

Speaking of metal, I regret buying the Ogre metal scrap launcher. A kit so bad, and for the use I got out of it, it would've been better to wait the- what was it like, 15 years?- for the plastic kit to come out rather than ever have touched that POS in the first place.

It is doable. I remember GW/Citadel essentially running a bits store (at a very decent mark up)
I remember buying the very old metal dragon model(the one that looks very similar to the current one leaping of a cliff) and a separate dragon prince rider without the horse plus Imriks lance arm. This was all costly but was still cheaper than buying Prince Imrik the dragon lord kit...

I can only imagine as their profits run up so much from IP and other revenue streams that part of the business was no longer worth the Trouble for them. Same reason why their current kits are so overpriced. Because they can be.

I regret buying every pewter miniature I own that was ever offered later in plastic. Period.

I think GW basically retired their bits service when they shifted from mostly metal models and some plastic into using both finecast and also producing most of their stock in plastic. My understanding is that with metal they could pop a mould into the machine, cast out what they needed and then dump the bits that weren't needed back into the melting pot to make more models. So basically they didn't have to store waste parts nor throw them out.

With finecast and plastic my understanding is that they can't do that, or that its also not practical. It might also be that alongside production material differences, the scale of GW has grown so that bits services are simply not economical for them to do now with their production and packaging setup. Ergo it would be a service in such high demand that it would require restructuring that side of the company. Heck when you get a miss-pack or error on models GW generally just resolves it by running a zero cost order through their system and sending you a full replacement kit rather than interrupting production and sending you juts the part you need.

I guess I'm lucky in that i don't regret buying anything I own! Even stuff that's lying in a box with no intention for me ever really getting too.

That being sad their are 2 thing I regret not buying when I had the chance

2) Watchtower terrain piece

Trying to get either on Ebay means emptying my wallet and using my whole gaming budget.

I bought a Necron scorpion---a model sculpted by some internet guy who thought they would be a cool addition to the army/way to make cash---and later got rid of it.

It fit in very well with the look and feel of the 2nd edition metal necron miniatures. I look for one all the time on ebay and have googled myself crazy trying to see if the guy/somebody might be selling, without success.

I get around this by building really competitive lists and using big, overcosted models to 'water them down' for casual games. It... sorta works?

I guess it's pleasing to see the big stuff out on the table even if all they do is eat some gunfire for a turn or two. Just let me take some cool photos before you shoot them off board, okay?

I regret all Space Marine purchases as Strike From The Shadows was given with one hand and taken with the other. Throw the Codex and Datacards in with them.

I regret not buying full squads of Howling Banshees (metal, tall masks) and Fire Dragons (metal, cut out crests). Would have liked a second boxed set of WFB 5th ed. too.

Ooh, I regret not getting...

Chaos: The stuff from DV, old Typhus, the FW 40k Deathguard Dreds
Genestealer cults: the cults side from that one boxed game, forgot the name
Admech: start collecting before they bumped the price up and then I moved to Japan where the price is doubled anyway.
Space Marines: the 30th anniversary marine, and those 'master of' minis, they oozed character

Regret getting... Hmm, trickier...

kinda regret building my centurions as grav, just because they're pants now, and I didn't finish them before 8th dropped, kinda sad bc I quite like them... my one powergamer move backfired on me completely :(

regret picking up a chinese version of Gangs of Comorragh, because I never got good enough at chinese to understand the rules, and the minis came at a time when 1. I had too many minis anyway 2. I had kinda run out of steam on my D Eldar project.
Slightly regret getting resin eldar rangers, because I sank SO MUCH TIME into cleaning them up. Utterly horrid resin casts, so disappointing, and so much damage done to the detail that I had to do some pretty radical converting in places.
