Oh yeah, saw them at the main stage of the 2019 Tuska Festival in Helsinki. Seen them before, and this show wasn't a disappointment in any way.

Though they weren't really the tightest show there - the new boys from New Zealand, Ancient Weaponry, did the best gig of this year on the smaller indoor stage. Not surprising that not-even-20 youngsters have the stamina to carry on like Duracell bunnies the entire show, but they also had very good sound (newer bands don't always have the most experienced sound techs) and a good friendly stage presence. Definitely a band to watch out for in the future! Here's a single video, not live but they did play that one too:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5kwIkF6LFDc

One bad that sadly seems to have quit is Bolt Thrower. One might not expect them to be good live, given the sort of stuff they produced, but they were surprisingly good at handling a crowd and delivering a good experience at concerts. Seen them live a few times, aforementioned Tuska Festival one and at least one club gig at Nosturi, Helsinki.

And ofc, if you havent seen them as many times as I have (they seem to be at every festival everywhere) Amorphis is a great live act. They were at the 2019 Tuska too, as expected. And they delivered as expected.

When I was young, I never had the money to go. Now I have plenty of money, and my knees are destroyed. Sigh.

Some music festivals have VIP sections to give those knees a break! Plus most will have VIP only selections of beer/cocktail included in the price (with nicer private bathrooms).

My favs are Sonic Temple Music festival in Columbus, OH and Beale Street Music festival in Memphis, TN.

May take a trip to Denver, Co for the 420 music concert.

I've seen System of a Down live twice and they were awful both times. Serj cannot actually sing.

At all.

Going to see Ween at Riotfest in CHI next month; first time and fairly excited.

Been to too many concerts to recall.

Some highlights - Rush at Wembley - seen them every time they came to UK since early '80's.

Seen Ozzy many times. Actually met Ozzy at a concert. He was drunk and/or stoned.

Seen Black Sabbath - first reunion at Ozzfest in '98

RHCP at Wembley back in '95, No Doubt supported and were awful to my recollection.

Hawkwind countless times but they were a very hardworking band and toured a lot.

Biggest regret - not seeing Tragically Hip when they came to UK a few years ago. Couple of years later Gord Downie died...

Blue Rodeo was excellent in concert. They have a song, Diamond Mine, and when the song broke it was like a hundred mirror balls twirling white light around the concert... as one might imagine the twinkling of a diamond studded mine might if you shone a tremendous amount of light into it.

Point being, it was spectacular.

Great Big Sea (My name is no coincidence) is a band I'd seen many-a-many-a times. They could really work a crowd. And as the music is relatively simple, in the grand scheme of things, so much is gained in the live performance. It's like the opposite of being disappointed that the performance didn't sound like the studio album. Live, the odd little pop or clink or even a song played in a different way is exciting and keeps you in the moment.

And while it isn't a music concert, and I'm not bringing politics to this, I had a chance to see Bill Clinton (former president) speak in London, ON. For the most part I don't remember what he was talking about... issues of the day sort of stuff.

What I do remember, is his voice. I'm not kidding, it was like being under the effect of a "Charm Person" spell. I don't think I've ever been "enraptured" by a person before. I've never been hypnotized, to my knowledge, but I think maybe that's what it's like. My wife and I both went, and I joked with her afterwards that his Charisma score was off the scale. It likely speaks to my RPG background. I've seen Worlds strongest man competitions, world class darts and pool. Seen survivors of incredibly traumatic injuries. Met brilliant people and read philosophy. But I'd never met anyone with a perfect charisma score before. Not that I met him face to face... I was 3rd bowl, could have almost touched the rafters but damn. It was a fascinating "show".

I got a chance to see Allanah Myles at a small venue. Took my Dad, who's never been to a "concert" before to see her as he was a big fan back in the day. She showed up hours late, slurry, complaining about the dry ice and griping about how Melissa Ethridge (another singer from her time) "stole" her Grammy (Canadian music award) with a similar sounding song. I was embarrassed that I'd taken my Dad there for a birthday gift.

I got a chance to see Econoline Crush, a Canadian Band that was big when I was in highschool, many years later. They sounded great, were great with the fans. I got a CD signed by the band and promptly had my truck broken into and the cd stolen. My wife didn't know the band, and when they were coming onstage said, "That's the guy that was all smiling at me earlier!" Which was the lead singer...

I remember seeing a few big names at Sarnia-fest, and Bay-fest, and I can't remember the name of the fest but it was in Barrie, and the headliner was Tool... and I missed it. Person I was with at the time partied a little too hard and it caught up with her just before they went on. I'm not a big Tool fan, to be honest, so I don't feel like I missed much.

I remember a friend of mine, her sister was petite, and a bit younger than us, and didn't realize a mosh pit was forming. Being a "sturdy" lad, I remember leading the charge with her sister and my wife-to-be. Elbows forwards. Looking straight ahead, going straight for her. Picking her up (she was petite) and carrying her out. The thing about people that wear studs? They shouldn't be allowed in a mosh pit. Or maybe I should have put some armour on, or something. *Point* is, blood doesn't come out of a white t-shirt, and it wouldn't matter much anyway since it wound up all full of holes.

Fun times. Good memories. I think that's what makes going to live events worth it. You break out of the everyday. You make memories.

It's funny, because I remember I lived a life before I had kids, but it's almost like remembering a movie. I only remember the highlights and lowlights clearly. Most of the shows I went to were nothing special in the long run, but I do remember some of them and that's cool, for me.

Plus. Dozens and dozens of smaller bands.

Not that into arena gigs, as I don’t like to be crowded for sake of my anxiety. I also find smaller gigs far more enjoyable, as I can see the band as more than dots on a stage.

Saw Wolfmother, MUSE and Pendulum live over a weekend. Wasn't a festival, they all just happened to play Manchester at a similar time. All were great. There is a new band in Bristol which are very much the Wolfmother style but I don't remember their name. Possibly something to do with rabbits?

Iron Maiden, The Prodigy and MUSE were probably my favourite live experiences so far.

Honourable mention: I saw Turisas live at Download and I was surprised how good they were. Didn't compete with the above three though.

I've seen Death Grips twice live. Both times were absolutely amazing. MC Ride has an incredibly kinetic stage presence and their sound translates really well live. Fun crowd too, very physical if you're into that kind of show-going experience.

We do, but at least my area, it also has a hill/lawn area that is way cheaper for tickets. The sound is still incredible so it's just sitting on a hill. The seats where double what I paid for, and since there were 3 of us, i saved some cash for shirts lol

I had a chance to see Leonard Cohen at his last show in London, ON. I think he was over 80, but he could still rumble it out. No missed words, clean show. Cool as a cucumber. Cool enough he could rock a fedora. Man was alive when they were "hip", so I guess that's part of it.

(My wife won tickets through a radio station. I couldn't have afforded to go otherwise!)

Been to quite a few since my early teens; Horseslips, Bell X1, Queens of The Stone Age, Iggy Pop, Arctic Monkeys, Royal Blood (x3), Wombats (x2), Hives, Run the Jewels, Muse, Prodigy, Suede, White Lies, Jack White, Everything Everything and a few more that I can't remember right now.

All have generally been pretty great, Jack White and Royal Blood were the loudest concerts I've been to. Royal Blood and QoTSA get the best mosh pit awards from me.

Missed out on the Foo Fighters a few years ago because Grohl decided to break his leg.

I don't know if it was because of the older music playlist, the set design or a combination of many other factors but, to borrow from Spinal Tap, they really turned the show I saw up to 11.

They were no slouches two years before on the Book of Souls show but maybe that lacked wrist mounted flamethrowers.

On another note, seeing Steve Harris with his British Lion band in a 300 capacity club was also electric. Harris really seemed to pushing out a performance that indicates he misses small venues.

Best show I have ever been to was Gogol Bordello. The crowd was really intense and no one was standing still, thanks to the band.

Worst show I have been to, sadly, was the Pantera half of Pantera/White Zombie. They phoned it in. We were beside the stage and could see behind the curtain as they were supposed to be playing, but were not. As soon as the curtain started to rise and hit their mid section, they acted like they were playing.

I'm back!

Zombie was excellent. Fun show, playing with the crowd, people really got into it. Still has that strong stage presence.

Kids had fun, though the youngest had a quick nap about halfway through... kid has a gift. He can sleep anywhere.

Happy to have gone. Ended with Dragula, the kids' favourite. They had a great time and I'm glad to get to be there for their first live rock show.

I've only seen rob zombie once but it was a lot of fun.

This was either the 2nd or 3rd time I've seen him. My concert memories from yesteryear used to get a little "muddy" by the end of the concerts.

This was a better performance than the last time I saw him. Last time it was outside, hot, humid... I think everyone was bagged out by the end of the day, performers and audience. I'd recommend seeing him to anybody that has a chance, and likes a hard, grinding rock show.
