Until they get eaten by Slaanesh.

Ork boyz die? It's probably *exactly* like Valhalla in the afterlife. Except instead of feasting and wenching, you're all *Moar battles! Bigger boyz! Waaaaagh!* And contributing to some Weirdboy's psychic power. Like, you're a soul, and what do your patron's daemons want to do? Fight. And what do you want to do? Fight. And you just keep growing in soul power until you become a Daemon Prince of being Brutal but Cunnin, or Cunnin but Brutal. And presumably, you just wage war on the other Orkly Daemon princes, vying for who can become the biggest soul.

Why do they not invade the mortal plane? By the time you're a Daemon Prince Ork of being Brutal, what could stand up to you but other Orks that are Cunnin enough to give you a good row. Or that are Brutal enough to challenge your cunning? Eventually you're so Cunnin' that you're out Cunnin-ing Tzeentch, but he doesn't even realize it 'cause you're so cunning. Or maybe you're not cunning enough that you have to challenge the Cunnin' master and keep battling till you're the biggest Ork soul that your Brutal-ness is enough to...

I'm sure you see where this is going. Waaaaagh!

Most important part of the original fluff...they occasionaly fight Imperial Knight households on these planets (where they occasionally co-exist I guess?). Yes...space elves riding huge dinosaurs fighting huge stompy robots. I admit I'm one of the people who would have gladly taken Exodites over the existence of Dark Eldar or Harlequins as model lines.

Do paradise worlds still exist ? If so i would be a worker on a paradise world. I would support those who rest or train on those worlds. And in my spare time (hopefully there is any) i would enjoy the paradise world.

I'm surprised no one has mentioned the Tau. A Tau citizen within their own society can live a rather decent life with many options away from the battlefield, depending on where they're born.

They don't really have options. If you're born into the Fire Caste and have a passion for science then tough. You're a soldier. Water Caste but you want to defend your home against Orks? Tough you get to be a bureaucrat. You want to lead people? Well you aren't Ethereal so no.

I'd be an Eldar. Safe, I can do whatever career takes my fancy and I can actually have a nice life.

Tau Earth Caste. Most civilian Tau just have regular jobs, decent benefits and live a healthy life. Most Tau worlds have never seen conflict and for the occasional unlucky world it is a rare occurrence that is unlikely to happen in the lifespan of your typical Tau.

if limited to just Race, got to be the Orks. but If i got to choose rank/title I probably be a Tech Priest Dominus and live forever speaking in binary.

Or maybe go out in a blaze of glory as a Titan Princeps just doing my thing and reaping carnage.

Yeah, I was under the impression you just get to pick the species and you just end up as a "regular joe" of that race.

True, your caste will certainly narrow your choices and that is unfair. But even within a caste there is a range of choice. Worlds are going to need a local defence force and you could argue that members of both the fire caste or water caste could find work within a police force. The earth caste would have the greatest range of employment, from a ditch digger to a lauded engineer.

Regular Joe Ork has fun till they day he dies, regular joe Dark Eldar, has fun but is basically a slave, regular joe Deamon is competing for favor of their god of choice, Regular joe imperial citizen has next to no options once they reach adulthood and no imperial organisations have taken an interest.
Regular joe necron or Tyranid hahaha, regular Joe Tau, GSC, and Eldar I don't know enough about.

It seems like Orks are the winner to me, but each to their own.

From what I understand of Tau, it isn't just that your caste limits your choices, but rather that the Ethereals literally have a plan for your entire life. Earth caste has a lot of "options", but they aren't choices YOU get to make. You get handed your job assignment and that's that.

Regular Joe GSC is functionally identical to an imperial citizen, but mind controlled by the Patriarch until he's expended delivering three bundles of demolition charges against an Arbitrator checkpoint.
Regular Joe Tau has equally minimal choice, his fate decided well before his birth. At least you get fed regularly.
Regular Joe Craftworld Eldar is the definition of "poor work life balance" and having a 120-hour workweek because it's what's expected and what you need to do to survive, and "you love your job".

All things considered, I think Eldar sounds least bad.

As far as faction line infantry goes, though; I'd probably prefer to be a Sister of Battle. Being a kooky evangelical is a trade off for being part of probably the most singly wealthy organization in the 41st millennium that ensures my life is by and large comfortable and well supplied. In addition, my job description is more likely to include suppressing dissent with overwhelming force and being the a****** on the local college campus who shouts about how you're going to hell for wearing shorts than actually having to deploy to face a daemonic incursion. And if I excel at whatever I'm assigned to do, I have a much higher than average chance of becoming an Inquisitorial Acolyte with the privileges and promotion opportunities that entails.

Guardsmen, hear me! Cadia may lie in ruin, but her proud people do not! For each brother and sister who gave their lives to Him as martyrs, we will reap a vengeance fiftyfold! Cadia may be no more, but will never be forgotten; our foes shall tremble in fear at the name, for their doom shall come from the barrels of Cadian guns, fired by Cadian hands! Forward, for vengeance and retribution, in His name and the names of our fallen comrades!

Eldar Harlequin.

Mandorallen turned back toward the insolently sneering baron. 'My Lord,' The great knight said distantly, 'I find thy face apelike and thy form misshapen. Thy beard, moreover, is an offence against decency, resembling more closely the scabrous fur which doth decorate the hinder portion of a mongrel dog than a proper adornment for a human face. Is it possibly that thy mother, seized by some wild lechery, did dally at some time past with a randy goat?' - Mimbrate Knight Protector Mandorallen.

Excerpt from "Seeress of Kell", Book Five of The Malloreon series by David Eddings.

But I don't really have the choice of those and even if I did why be a short lived borderline slave when I can be a very long lived elf who does almost whatever they want?
