Collectors is a better value than the core set and the recommended level of entry.

All models will be playable in Infinity as far as I know.

The Collectors set is basically a full Shesvasti Sectoral Army. It's honestly probably a better purchase for models to play in Infinity than anything in that regard.

Let's go for another micro-goal: Jazz profile!

Hello again backers!

We're pretty impressed with your support to the campaign! We're really really happy with it!

Now, let's go with another micro-goal, that we know you're waiting for so long

For the next micro-goal we’re going to the BGG (Board Game Geek) and we’ll ask you to show us your love by giving a Like to Infinity Defiance. With 75 Likes we’ll unlock Jazz’s Infinity profile.

Also, we're pretty close to unlock the next stretch goal: more equipment cards!

See you on the next update!

Thanks both, I have some Yu Jing from years ago but the models are old and if I was diving in I was wondering how this would do as a starter.

I've put a remind me on this KS, see if I have the cash for it as it's close to Christmas.

Hey! Look what we have unlocked!

Hello again backers!

in the first 24h of the campaign we've reached 420K €!! Thank you so much for your support to Defiance, we're super happy!

Have we told you already that we love extra gear? Well, now we’ve unlocked another 10 cards! These cards will grant you access to more equipment options for the heroes.

On equipment cards you’ll find certain specifications: firstly, what kind of equipment is, and secondly, if having Line of Sight is necessary. The color and amount of dice required for a Roll are also indicated, as are the Switches.

Every time you make a Roll, you can spend the symbols on the dice to do Switches as indicated on the Equipment card.

This stretch goal will be available for all pledges (CORE, COLLECTOR’S AND/OR DELUXE).

You ask for it! These translucent dice are awesome! Isn´t it?

We’ve unlocked another Teseum Goal! Now, all Defiance´s dice are upgraded to translucent ones! More Si-Fi aesthetic!

Also, you can buy it as an add-on separately if you want more dice.

This stretch goal will be available for all pledges (CORE, COLLECTOR’S AND/OR DELUXE).

Soon a new Teseum Goal!

Also we’ve unlocked Jazz’s Infinity profile!

Thank you so much for your support - you’re awesome!

Also, let us show you the corrected Qiang profile. The one we showed you a few updates ago was wrong. Sorry for the inconvenience.

For the next micro-goal we’ll ask you to vote which one you want to see first: Rahman or Trisha? Please vote on our Twitter, Facebook or Instagram Stories accounts!

What’s next in line? More enemies are lurking, and since we’ve already established that the game is totally compatible with Infinity, why not substituting the Shasvastii with other kind of enemy?

See you on the next update!

Trisha N33 is a welcome addition.

It's always nice to see characters that are more than just "trigger pullers" and add to the background of the game.

Also liking the character development aspects. A clever gamer could almost turn this into an RPG...

...and looks like there's a Morat expansion coming at €480, which should happen quite soon.

The first of the Morat goals unlocked.

As I post this, looks like the 460 goal is already met.

480 is more Morats, and 500 is foam. Foam?!?

New Morat Enemy Cards unlocked!!!

Enemies are incoming!

Now it’s time for the Morat: Kornak and Suryat, a new enemy's cards available right now!!!

Tips on how to replace Shasvastii troops for these new troops will be included in the game.

KORNAK GAZAROT, OFICIAL-GUERRERO SUPERIOR MORAT

Kornak Gazarot is a self-made hero, a titan who did everything on his own to reach a legendary category among the Morats, rising from poverty through rage, perseverance, and courage. Kornak possesses enormous talent as a strategist. He is capable of foreseeing movements by the enemy and beating them to it. However, leading the first line of battle in the middle of the fire and the maelstrom, is where he truly stands out as a Kosutarat (Superior Warrior-Officer).

Kornak is a brutal, strict, and merciless leader who does not tolerate cowardice on the battlefield. He punishes it with immediate death. Troops under his command are subjected to the strictest discipline possible and Kornak does not waste any chance to give back all the beatings and abuse that he suffered in the past due to his Orlorat background. Nevertheless, the Morats will continue into the jaws of death because they are devoted to victory and respect his martial perseverance up to the point of having nicknamed Gazarot "Guts of Steel", for being a warrior that seems to have been shaped during a previous time.

THE SURYAT HEAVY ASSAULT INFANTRY
The Suryat Heavy Assault Infantry is an elite body exclusively made up of members from the Gesurat caste. Within Morat society, Gesurats are Complete Morats. These military veterans have earned full citizenship in their natural home: the battlefield. Suryat troops are rough military professionals yet flexible when it comes to tactics.

A Suryat is incapable of tolerating the word "inadequate” - within this unit, optimal, excellent performance is always required. A Suryat must always be ready. The regiment, therefore, adapted to the new conditions of combat. Tactics, weaponry, and equipment have all been modified not just to the theater of operations but also their new adversaries.

This stretch goal will be available for all pledges (CORE, COLLECTOR’S AND/OR DELUXE).

What's is coming?

See you in the next update!!

Jazz Aditional Body, Trisha Infinity profile and Character Cards
Hello again, dear backers!

An alternative body for Jazz is unlocked! And it is cool!

Anyone will tell you that were they to choose a person to go with to a deserted island, no one would pick Jazz Caticovas. She would spend the whole day listening to music and in a bad mood for not being able to access the datasphere or play her sax. The fact is that, even if Jazz knew what a deserted island was—since, being a Nomad from Corregidor, she has spent her whole life inside crowded ships—she would probably agree with this opinion. However, if you are inside an orbital under a security lockdown while some bad guys are asking for your head, then Jazz is your girl. But if she hears you call her “your girl,” she will most probably shoot you—and it will not be in the foot.Anyone will tell you that were they to choose a person to go with to a deserted island, no one would pick Jazz Caticovas. But if she hears you call her “your girl,” she will most probably shoot you—and it will not be in the foot.

Jazmín “Jazz” Caticovas is a Corregidoran hacker, which means that, as opposed to the Nomad hackers from Bakunin, with their radical solutions, or those from Tunguska, with their trademark genius, she is a foot soldier of cybercombat who has learned it all the hard way. And Jazz has a special talent for always choosing the most difficult way. Born and raised in the Picachito module in Lazareto, she comes from a family of musicians who instilled in her a passion for jazz, but of course, given her origins, Afro-Cuban and Latin jazz. She would learn to play the saxophone when she was only five years old, and this would secure her a good career for life. But that would be the easy way, and she likes it difficult. So, to her parents’ chagrin, she would soon become more interested in classical jazz than in the predominant Latin jazz sound from Lazareto, which frustrated her incipient musical career. The problem is the Picachito module, a sector with one of the highest murder rates in Lazareto, is under the brutal control of the maras, and they only respect musicians and priests. For Barrio 6, the violent mara dominating Picachito, everyone else, especially girls, are just targets. Jazz could not become a priest, and she would never be the kind of musician everyone wanted her to be, and this made her a candidate to be brought to a casa loca, a “mad house,” a housing pod used by the maras to rape, torture, or kill their victims. With no professional prospects in sight and with her life in danger, Jazz would finally join the Corregidor Jurisdictional Command, where she discovered her other great passion in life: coding.

For Jazz, writing code is like writing and interpreting music, especially jazz jam sessions: starting with a couple of beats and ending with a full concert. This is a very flowery description of her job, but the only thing that interests the officers of the Nomad Military Force’s High Command is that this young woman is one of the few hackers capable of breaking through VoodooTech firewalls without losing her life or her sanity in the process. Jazz was deployed on Paradiso with a spec-ops team, always accompanied by her Remote Billie—named after her idol, the great Billie Holiday— and she adapted quickly to life on the front, which for her is much less stressful than an ordinary day in the Picachito module. There, mission upon mission and success upon success, Jazz built a great reputation within the Paradiso Coordinated Command, both as a tactical hacker expert in deep penetration hacking and as bad company to be with on a deserted island. She does not care much about this reputation as long as she can interpret her favorite music, either with her sax or with her hacking device.

This stretch goal will be available for the COLLECTOR’S and/or DELUXE pledges.

On the previous update, we asked you to vote on our social media accounts which profile do you want to see first, Rahman or Trisha. And the winner is...

Thank you for your support! Here you have Trisha's profile (available soon in Army):

And, of course, we also want to share with you the Infinity Defiance Character Cards of the two heroes unlocked so far.

What do you think about it? Please tell us in the comments!!

If you want to transport your miniatures… Stay tuned to the next update!

The collector's foam is actually a pretty nice freebe and probably one of the first that signals that they're wanting this to be a boardgame and not just a way to sell a Sectorial to existing infinity players.

They've also stated they're going to have a way, probably PM, to get extra parts of the heroes so you can build each version. Happy to see that.

MORAT: Reinforcement Pack and Enemy Cards

Welcome to another amazing update of INFINITY DEFIANCE.

You ask for it! More enemy cards!

We unlocked 10 more cards! Oznat & The Hungries

OZNAT, MORAT HUNTING REGIMENT

Within Morat military tradition, the Oznats (groups of hunters and scouts) have been widely used in combat throughout its violent history. Because of this, when the EI brought The Hungries from the gate of hell where they were found, the Morats could see the tactical value of this organized group of fearful creatures being led perfectly in battle by one of the skillful Oznat hunters.

Traditionally, hunting tasks were generally carried out by Morat women. Since ancient times, they have hunted just like any man. The Oznat technique for training a group of Starving Ones consists of becoming the leader of the herd in the most brutal, primitive way possible. The Oznat challenges the alpha male or the alpha female, in case it involves a group of Pretas. During this challenge the Oznat imitates the ritual behavior of The Hungries but exaggerates this action to the extreme. It's not just limited to killing the alpha creature with its bare hands. The Oznat must also rip open its body and devour its guts in front of the entire herd. By following this savage, dangerous method, the Oznat undeniably takes over the command of the herd. When it comes to aggressiveness and brutality, a female Morat can be the alpha male of any other race.

THE HUNGRIES: GAKIS & PRETAS

The Hungries are light combat operatives, representatives of some bastard race the EI found in on a long-forgotten planet.

The main military applications of these units are to dissuade the enemy forces and to break their lines. Experience has taught human troops never to let them get too close. The Hungries have been trained to be insidious rather than intelligent. Each individual carries weaponized arm-claws, but Pretas can, by virtue of the presence of the symbiont, expel wide bursts of small calcareous outgrowths with such force that they can be used as a shrapnel gun.

In combat, Hungries prefer to move as a group, following random patterns in unison to make the most of their numbers. Simply put, these things are bad, bad news. Their speed and tenacity makes for a terrifyingly ruthless enemy. Not in vain is it said that they never give up their pound of flesh.

This stretch goal will be available for all pledges (CORE, COLLECTOR’S AND/OR DELUXE).

At this point, we've unlocked a lot of alternative enemies from the Combined Army, but maybe you're asking yourself "Ok, how I'll change the Shasvastii enemies for Onyx or Morat enemies?". Let us show you the equivalence chart of the enemies:

You can see that, for example, if you want to use the amazing Xeodron, you must replace the Charontid from the Core enemies. Remember that, if you're not getting any of the Reinforcement Packs (but we highly recommend!) don't worry, because we'll put enemy tokens with the alternative enemy cards.

Alright, this is getting interesting! Reinforcements are coming!

We unlocked the Morat Reinforcement Pack.

This add-on is available for all pledges (CORE, COLLECTOR’S AND/OR DELUXE) for 45€ (very special prize).

Why is it interesting to play with these enemies?

The Morat or the Onyx behave totally differently than the Shasvastii, we have tried to keep the essence of their behavior in their Enemy Cards.

Here you have an example of how those cards are and remember that this is a project in progress and is not 100% definitive.

[WORKING IN PROGRESS]

[WORKING IN PROGRESS]

Why are they here?

This question is easy to answer: they’re here because we called them. Humanity, in its reckless wandering through the universe, has -as many times before- knock on the door of an angry goddess, and she’s let slip the dogs of war.

Though finding credible sources about it is not as easy. During the dawn of Paradiso’s (certainly a poor choice of name) colonization, settlers from the Aurora ran into, and interacted with, an artifact, a probe, that eventually proved to become a beacon that informed a whole ensemble of alien races lead by an evolved AI that we were out there.

Even though this is part of our recent history, few know that when that verdant planet was fully colonized, years after those events, its inhabitants were already facing an inescapable countdown. So when from one of the wormholes of the system -Acheron-, the Morat, Shasvastii, Sygmaa, and the rest of the Combined Army began pouring in, they took the whole humanity by surprise. They hit us hard and we almost lost the whole planet.

Morat soldiers, with unheard determination and brutality, took cities with an iron fist, supported by the Sygmaa’s swift and precise aerial strikes. But the worst were the Shasvastii: insidious, elusive, and able to impersonate any of us. Any of our leaders.

Just how far could they’ve gone?

We don’t know for sure, but we’re still here since then. We’ve been defending our homes, families and the human way of life on distant Paradiso. All nations standing together, we won’t be defeated, this is our cry of Defiance”.

Article by Lorette Woodgate for the Valkenswijk Observer, available on Maya.

And finally, we leave you a video that deepens in the compatibility of Infinity Defiance with Infinity from "On Tabletop".

See you in the next update!

I'm really liking the fact that so many Combined Army profiles are making their way over to Defiance.

While I really like the Infinity background and figures, the game is just a bit too rules-heavy for what I'm looking for.

Defiance, on the other hand, looks just about right for my group, and I hope it gets further support over time.

CB has really embraced KS as a ‘first-timer’!

They clearly studied hard and learned the ‘Fake Stretch Goals’ thing!

Looking forward to where this ends up, seeing if it’s worth it or not.

The whole thing is KS exclusive though, so I wonder how it will be supported in the future - more KS campaigns?

Despite their limited time only kickstarter exclusive protestations to the contrary, I don't think that the minis will remain out of the normal distribution channels forever. It's just a guess on my part though so to taste.

So from the comments they've stated that extra missions will be released in digital for based off of demand. So I expect at least a few over a year after release but if they don't see enough social media presence or downloads they may just stop.

Honestly this didn't need to be a KSer and just gives them an excuse to sell something outside of retail with FOMO so they don't have to keep a stock. At the price they're charging, $200, pretty much all the SG should have been included from the get go.

With metal miniatures it is not a retail product so yes, KS exclusive makes sense, as for the price if you compare the cost and the models contained of the collectors pledge with the latest two players starter set, wildfire, I think that you will find it compares quite favorably and that is without the extra miniatures added in.

Looking at the KS from only a price per miniature perspective, it seems like a good deal to me.

However, I like the system quite a bit, so that's all a bonus to me.

With Infinity, it generally comes down to about $10 per miniature retail, with some variation depending on how large or small the miniatures are. For just the core 33 miniatures, Defiance is already a great deal. With the kickstarter goals added in, it's even better.

That is of course dependent on actually wanting all of those minis across the various factions and having a practical use for the stretch goals. Obviously it's not exclusive to this project as it's a general crowdfunding statement but figured I'd mention it just in case.

Collector's Foam unlocked and a video talking about the tiles!
Hello again backers!

We've reached 500K €! This is truly amazing! Thank you so much for your support!

Best way of transporting your Defiance miniatures!

Collector´s Foam unlocked!

This stretch goal will be available for COLLECTOR’S AND/OR DELUXE pledges.

Now we want to have a different way of communication with you, dear backers. So we've decided to record some videos talking about some game elements.

In this first video, we'll talk about a very important game element: the tiles. Carlos "Bostria", our beloved brand ambassador, will show you some of the game tiles and talk a little bit about them:

We really hope that you like videos like this one. We have more videos coming and we'll try to communicate with you regularly talking about the campaign, the game and more

And, how about unlocking another Infinity profile? Do you want to know how is the profile of Rahman, right?
So we'll ask you some help. Please share 100 times this Facebook post and we'll show you his profile!

And...what's next? Oh yes! Additional arms for Cadin! I think he looks amazing with that alternate arms...

Technically, all the minis are usable in Defiance, so as far as it being a Defiance kickstarter (and not an Infinity kickstarter), the value is still there. Being able to also use those figures in Infinity only improves the cost to value proposition for each figure you want for that purpose.

As someone interested in starting a Shasvastii army after Operation Wildfire, the value of this kickstarter is basically doubled in my eyes.

Ironically, the main reason I'm having trouble buying into this kickstarter is that I want to avoid starting a Shasvastii army.

That definitely makes a huge difference. I'm only interested in a small handful of the Shasvastii (thanks for spelling that for me!) minis mainly for RPG purposes. I might try the board game if I pledge as I'll have it so why not but I'm looking at the value mainly from the perspective of the human sphere minis. I'm clearly not the ideal candidate for this project though but I've toyed around with the idea of getting into Infinity since N3 came out.
