In my old house I used to just spray in the kitchen, with the can aimed towards the open door. as long as you let it vent for a bit after it really wasnt an issue.
So I really dont understand when people have priming issues. maybe those in extreme climes, but not in the oh so average UK.
Also, if it is raining, you could always get a box and turn it sideways, to do quick primes if it is raining.
Not in this kind of weather! My garden door almost flew off the hinges when I took the rubbish out today. A box stands no chance..
If you have no porch/shed and its a really nice house the last thing you want is an argument with co-habitors about ruining the expensive wooden floor..

Of course not this weather, but we're in the grip of a big old storm. But regular cold and rain, yeah no drama. Why would you ruin the floor? Just spray into a box. I use old cardboard boxes. Once you've sprayed, turn the box to the open door and leave on the rim to facilitate venting.

I use a garage for this reason.
Turn the heater on and let it warm up for an hour or so first.
Then just throw a mask on, prime as much as I can then pop a window and let it air out.
Not ideal, but it’s annoying if your in a painting mood and can’t make a start.

I've never had a problem in the UK. Theres always a break in the weather, garage, overhang, friend/neighbour or flgs to prime at.
If you're really struggling buy a pop up tent. They cost about £10.
Set it up indoors with the windows open then leave the house for half an hour or take it anywhere outside.

Funny, I primed (GW Chaos Black spray) some armour plates for my Bloodthirster recently, and the finish was really uneven, grainy and clumpy. Never had it before but it was really damp in my shed/garage and I let the bits dry there - is that what caused it?
Anyway, it annoyed me so much I'm stripping it off to do it again.

My wife would kill me if I sprayed in our apartment, and it would be a fair cop!
I think you can often spray in colder weather than you'd think, if the can is warm. If it goes well below zero celsius I think you are in trouble, but I have sprayed at freezing or within a few degrees with no issues. Never tried colder than -2 or so, but I keep my cans inside so they are pretty warm when I take them downstairs to the parking garage to spray.

I recently primed some minis, had the back door open and sprayed half in half out, obviously taking care not to spray the frame or door.
Make sure there is a draft to blow the over spray out.
Got an ear full from the wife but went in one ear and out the other. I personally like the smell of aerosol compared to the nail parlors she goes to.

Had the exact same spray booth with extractor fan and hose for about 5 years and priming/varnishing problems are just a nasty memory. A good filter mask still helps.
Wash out the filter regularly, and brush out the paint particles from the booth . Job's a good 'un!
I still spray big buildings outdoors, or unassembled

I just got some outside priming done. But usually the weather is bad where I am at. We are going back to winter tomorrow. I try to get around this by prepping as many models in the fall as I can. Just keep whatever you are building ready. If you get a good day knock out what you can. The other thing I do is start building terrain for any games. Most of those projects I don't need to spray prime.

I found warming cans up running under hot tap and giving a good shake really helps with getting good consistency in coldish weather.

Well get you cans out!!! The weather forecats is looking good for tomorrow in most of the Uk excluding northern ireland and the usual suspects!!
I'll be prepping everything I have built and go to town from tomorrow morning hopefully! Its been a real nice day today. Sadly I slept off night shift and then had stuff to do so didint get out of it much, I did a test tun using halford grey primer on some scenic bases.
Never used non-mianture company primer so interested to see if theres any difference. SO far looks just as good as GW/Army painter/Tamiya.

Definitely feeling it. It's been rainy and/or stormy pretty much every day lately, so in the meantime I'm sitting around starting, shelving, starting and shelving a bunch of projects

I have started using automotive primer, it's cheaper and adheres better.
I have halfords grey plastic primer and high build primer.
The plastic primer goes onto metal too and doesn't seem to chip as easily as tamiya primer

I think it worked really well! Its gives a nice dry powdery coverage.
I need to see if they do a black one. Chaos black isn't what it used to be I swear down... Plus I run out lol.
The paint rack from GW is actually really neat. Picked one up in my local indepndant shop.

If I really want to paint, I just brush undercoat. It still works fine in any weather!
I do not enjoy it, but it gets stuff done!

Okay it was nice enough over the weekend that I was able to prime a few minis in the my little outdoor alcove. I probably should of done more but I have enough of a primed backlog that I should be good for awhile.

Spray booth + airbrush. I live in Canada where the weather is not ideal for aerosol priming 6 months of the year. Switched over to Vallejo surface primer and never looked back.
Plus you're not using aerosol cans so that's a win in my book.

Yes, its too cold right now (sub-freezing) and in the house is not an option as my wife has an extraordinarily acute sense of smell, and she hates the smell of the spray paints.
So once I'm finished with my current few that are ready, it'll be no painting till it warms up again.

Usually I just spray, put the fan on, open the window and take Sasha Aleksandrovna for a lengthy walk.
It's -11c now though, so... I use a brush.

This. I haven't sprayed anything in years. No empty cans to dispose of properly, no overspray or fumes, and no clumping or graininess.
