I do appreciate that it has lost the “Western” part of Westworld (and my wife feels the same as you), which is a shame, but I think it would’ve been difficult (and felt very contrived to keep everything in that totally artificial boundary.
I think the thing I most enjoy is that we have at least four different factions / protagonists and I don’t know which of them will be the actual “big bad”.
The social comentary is ok and quite interesting and build on stuff about freedom in previous seasons but the drama has faded away for me with the lack of people to feel any empathy for plus the emptyiness of the world both in terms of what it is and lack of people.
Delores is playing god the same as the people she hates and I wonder what proportion of the population would have prefereed to live in ignorance and relative comfort bit like the Matrix IF they had a choice - something she did not give them either.
I think most people don;t want "freedom" whatever that is but just want a nice (or at least tolerable) life and the illusion of freedom of choice is enough?
I am not sure anyone is a big bad in the traditional sense - they are all trying to make a better world - its more of a conflict of how you do it. Also I am not convinvced that Delores has a goal / endgame for either species
Sadly Maeve has been hardly used in this season - I assume she has been repaired by now....
