I'll need to think about that. Not sure I want the files out in the wild just yet.

After the first one with issues, I'd definitely agree. But guardedly. They seem to be having QA issues because of their rate of production.

Here are some prints (gakky pics as usual, sorry):

GW>Print--Print>GW>Print--GW>Print>GW

The size on the bare heads and hooded head is pretty good. Need to work the details a little bit to make them print better. The helmet needs to be a bit larger and some of the details reworked a small amount.

Torso and Tassets are printed. Need to make some adjustments, but they are pretty solid as is.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Slightly (very slightly) better picture:

Torso, hooded head, tassets, icon on his shin, and besagew are all printed in this picture.

I have made some of the adjustments I needed to the files. Lots more to go. Hopefully I'll have some more test prints tomorrow.

New prints and better pictures:

Ecstatic with how well the torso printed. Type is crisp and clear.

This torso and tassets are in what I consider their 100% finished form. Very happy with them.

Torso comparison shot. Old sculpt-New sculpt-GK Terminator-Primaris Intercessor. Angle makes it a little hard to see. They are pretty much the same bulk as the Terminator torso, and just a little bulkier than the Intercessor one.

Head details were re-worked to make the prints sharper and more defined.

GW-Print__Print-GW-Print__Print-GW-Print.

Everything looks good on the prints. Detail is distinct and should paint up well. I might have to reduce the size of the helmets just a bit. I need to dig out a Primaris helmet and compare to it first.

Thanks Theo. Much appreciated.

Can't wait to get the rest of my hobby stuff set up and get paint on these. I'm really excited by how well everything came out.

More sculpt work done on the Grey Knight bits:

Modified the Justicar torso to add the laurel wreath. Added another basic torso. I'll make a couple more of those so that I have 5 varieties or so.

Couple modifications to the old helmets, and added a new type. As with the torsos, I'll make another few variants.

Weapon ideas. Will develop a couple more versions of the halberd and the 2H sword. Then a few variations of hammer and 1H sword.

Also decided to develop parts to make a version of Castellan Crowe:

Test prints soon, hopefully.

Haven't had a chance to do prints yet, but I did finish some more parts:

Final Head and Helmet sculpts.

Final torso variations.

Whipped up some parts to make the DKoK from Killteam into Steel Legion. Printing test now.

Work continues on the other stuff. Real job is massively busy right now so that is slowing everything down for me.

Thanks! I appreciate that a lot.

Test prints were a bit smaller than I wanted, so I've readjusted and will be printing again soon.

So, I've been trying to figure out a good way to do chainmaille and I finally hit on something that I think will work:

Parts breakdown.

Poorly primed test print. Need to adjust the thinning. It is filling details quite a bit. Wish I had taken a pre-prime picture. Badger Stynylrez grey primer. I wanted to test out the cordless airbrush I bought not too long ago. Pretty happy with it. Definitely need to do a better job with thinning the primer though.

Comparison with one of the AoS Witch Hunters. Pretty happy with the size. Need to work on the way I do supports too.

All your stuff is so cool - it makes me want to make an army of Grey Knights (that I have absolutely no use for!) just to print these great pieces.

I think the chain mail works nicely, as many are not deep enough so once printed, primed and painted the texture does not hold, but this looks like it will nicely. A full paint test is next!

Thank you so much. That is a very big compliment!

Those issues are the reasons that I have been trying to make a good looking maille. This is very time intensive since every link is its own object, but nothing looks as good (so far) in my opinion. I will probably not paint this print ay further. I want to print another and do a better job of supporting so there is less damage and detail loss. Once I am happy with that I'll do a full paint up of grimdark Dirk for sure. lol

A bit more work on my Greek Fantasy stuff. As I posted before this is basically a love letter to things like Assassin's Creed: Odyssey, Titan Quest, God of War, etc. While being myth/fantasy oriented already takes it out of the realm of historical, I also intend to mix styles/tech levels within the broader Bronze Age period. So the history buffs in here might see things that I intend to use together that were separated by hundreds of years in reality.

Enough waffle, I suppose. lol Here is where I am at with stuff currently:
Barbarian

Light armor, tower shield, and spear.

Athenian "Paladin"

Heavy armor and 2H mace. Owl theme since she worships Athena. Not a terrible lot of change since the last time. Just a bit of refining.

I have Cyclops (Ogre), Storm Titan (Storm Giant), Hekatonkheires, Hydra, Cerberus, and Minotaur ideas for now. I also will do something to be equivalent to traditional fantasy races, sort of. Faun instead of Elf, degenerate humans instead of Orcs, and so on.

For the rules I will likely use Goalsystem Delves with the campaign stuff from 5 Leagues from the Border with the appropriate adjustments for theme.

Some Superhero stuff:

Big Pharaoh 6 from Slugfest.

TBolt from SuperSystem (and Super Mission Force)

G.U.A.R.D. Tac Team from Supersystem.

Feedback is always welcome.

Bit of random inspiration and furious sculpting done over the last two days:

Inspired by this figure from the Rogue Stars line:

I like the idea behind the Rogue Stars game, but the figures produced for it never did grab me. Some excellent designs, but a bit too retro styled for my liking. So, I decided to have a go at resculpting the designs that I like, starting with the male Pirate. I decided to make him a Dwarf too, just for variety's sake.

I might make his little buddy too, not sure. Print will have to wait until I'm off next week.

I like the beard on yours better. What’s on his shoulder (the original) looks like a centipede mixed with a dog.

So I guess a WIP Wednesday today? Since I have been again reminded that I suck horribly, I felt the need to share some work with the world.

I know someone here will recognize the character.

Warduke redesign progress. Scales are placeholders.

Go for the eyes Boo!

Strongheart redesign. Maille needs a lot of work still. Pretty happy with everything else.

Akhes the Cruel. Based on a piece done by Nicolas Giacondino.

That's it for now. Comments and criticism welcome. Thanks for stopping by.

Hope everyone who celebrates had a good holiday. I worked on a couple things in my downtime yesterday, and trying a new way of displaying sclpts:

Strongheart again. I changed the position of the sword to be more active use rather than passive. Shield position in this image is not going to be the final position, I just moved it to make working on it easier.

Bowmarc. Started this one yesterday and got him to this point. Still tons to do.

I don't know if I ever posted the images that showed where the inspiration for these figures comes from. It occurred to me that there are probably lots of folks on here too young to remember the originals from the '80s. Or perhaps had just never encountered them previously.

Bowmarc D&D Action Figure

Cover for the D&D Coloring Book, featuring Strongheart

I also got a print of the Dwarf Pirate Captain that I posted previously. Didn't like the proportions so I reworked them a bit.

Here is the rework compared to the original:

Head, hands, and feet are all bigger, and some of the details adjusted to print better.

That's it for now. Thanks for stopping by.

Been awhile since I posted anything here. Some stuff I've been working on.

Bruiser Benning / Mr Jadoogar /The Siberian

And a print of BB and The Siberian next to some CIty of Heroes Heroclix.

Old Siberian included to show the changes made.

Updated and printed the Dirk the Daring figure:

Pretty happy now. Only thing that needs changed is the sword needs to be thickened up for strength.

On the off chance that anyone is interested, here is something that I have been working on:

Capitol Light Infantry Corporal

Capitol Gear

Mutant Chronicles Faction Symbols

Although I am looking forward to seeing Res Nova's new sculpts and what they are offering in the upcoming Kickstarter, I also know that it will not really be 100% what I want, so I decided to go ahead with my own updates to the Mutant Chronicles designs.

The idea is to keep a good bit of the 90's design and update parts of it. One of the biggest things is the weapons. The artists that originally worked on these designs had very little of a clue how firearms work...

Having worked through this stuff, I'm not sure I want to jump right in to doing wargame levels of designs right off the bat. I was thinking of updating the Siege of the Citadel board game instead. That will let me do a couple designs from each faction to establish the baselines. Also, some scenery maybe.

If anyone is interested, I'll drop updates when I have them.

And for something physical and not digital, some prints of Superhero sculpts I had been working on:

Printed on my Sonic Mini 4K. I have since gotten a Mini 8K. Will show other prints when I can.

Thanks for dropping by.

I really like the swashbuckler and the bronze age barbarian. A bronze age dungeon crawler would be very true to to theme, as Theseus and the Minotaur might have been one of the first dungeon crawlers (labyrinth crawler, you get my point).

Are you planning on selling your STLs at any point?

Oh man, I need to check this thread more. Sorry, Osorios. I'm so used to no one replying I kinda stopped checking and replies slipped past me again. Once I get more of the feel/aesthetic nailed down for the Fantasy Greece project I'll do more work in earnest on it. I do plan to offer figures at some point, probably through Gumroad.

I decided to stop the Warzone stuff, since Res Nova is doing a decent job and it doesn't make much sense for me to spend my very limited free time essentially duplicating their work.

One thing I have always wanted to have are decent Arbites figures. I do not like the new ones by GW, so, time to revive and old project. I've done a lot of work the past couple days on this guy:

Not exactly sure what to call him, maybe Judge Captain. I originally started making Arbites parts to convert a Space Marine Scouts counts as for the Kill Team rules. In v1 they would be a Scout Squad with a PA Sergeant, IIRC. Not sure what this guy would proxy as these days. I haven't really dug into the v2 rules yet. He has power armor but I wanted the design to heavily reflect the carapace worn by the rank and file Arbites.

This figure is heavily inspired by this John Blanche piece:

I intend to make 2 of the robed acolyte looking guys. One like in the drawing, and one holding the Captain's helmet.

Ok, so, thoughts are most welcome. I will attempt to check in on this thread more (sorry again).

Nothing?

Ok, I guess I'll try again. lol

Did more work on the Judge and also made a test print to see how it looks.

Next to a partially built Cadian:

Some small support failures, but I don't care since this is just a test. Size seems decent. I need to dig out an OG Space Marine and compare him next to another power armor wearer, and maybe a few other human-sized figures (especially the Enforcers) since the Cadians feel small. The wrapping on the handle of his power hammer needs to be redone too.

I also continued work on the base file for some regular Arbites:

I made a test print of him too:

Shotgun:

Next to the Cadian:

Judge and Arbites together:

Again, size and detail look good. I compared this print to the Enforcers that I have still on the sprue and they are comparable size-wise, so I'm gatting pretty close to done with the base design.

Very, very early WIP:

Feedback welcome, as always.

The sculpt looks nice, but IMO very, very static. Like it was made for easy spincasting a quarter century ago, or something! Other than that it's got a tonne of character. Is he supposed to get a more 'final' pose later?

The Arbites? 100% not posed at all. Just a test to see how the detail is working in a print.

The Judge Captain? That will be his pose. He is meant to be standing and listening to his acolyte read out charges or something. It is a bit static, I suppose, but that is on purpose this time.
