They are capable of attracting the attention of the gods but took no part in creating them as the "gods" exists in all realities there is no way that any species from the 40k universe created any of the chaos gods no matter how much any creature in the 40k universe believes it to be so, we have so many example in the fluff from across so many novels, codexs etc. that show this now its not even remotely in the realm of headcannon, hell even one of the original writers said as much in an AMA a long while back and that the gods we see are just aspects of a much larger gestalt entity reaching into our reality.

In the black legion novels there are daemons of the Emperor, or at the least psychic manifestations of him that are lethal to chaos daemons. If he's already being fed that much juice, he can't be far off hitting up godhood proper.

He'd become a god of hope/order as suggested here and I dare say I agree he'd not be the nicest god ever. Given his minions are anathema to chaos daemons however I don't know if it would be classed as a "chaos god" though.

Can't see humans making another god, most tropes of emotion are covered. Despair/hopelessness is the nearest, but that kind of gets soaked up by Nurgle/Slaanesh a lot of the time.

The inference being that the slann/old ones either tinted the warp in a colour so beige it and not real effect, or just by happenstance where the one species that had no emotions to stain the warp.

The WHFB Old One the Lizardmen worshipped known as Tlazcotl IMO best represents the Old Slann's impassiveness and how they differed from the more emotional hot blooded races that came after (and which they may have engineered).

That placidness is also IMO what the old shamans from the original Realms of Chaos that gave rise to the Emperor were aiming for. Only then could they calmly and safely wield the power of the warp. Passionate psykers might be able to fling warp powers around easily but their lack of self-control means they churn up the warp, even when they don't burn themselves out. The Old Slann producing or nudging hot blooded passionate psyker races into being was again IMO an attempt to speed up production of combat capable psykers. An attempt that backfired on them.
For me, this makes the most sense & what I think BiggiE has been trying to steer humanity towards. All the while trying not to fall into the same trap the Old Ones did. It would make sense as to why he made the decision he did at Nikea. Since Magnus was too passionate and made the 1ksons an easy target for voices from the ether.

By the way, I cant recommend the Realms of Chaos & Slaves to Darkenss books enough. They kick ass! This is the stuff that got me interested in the lore.

If we were to link the seven deadly sins to the Chaos Gods, it is easy to link Khorne to Wrath. We might easily link Slaanesh to Lust and Gluttony, for both are about physical senation and pleasure. I feel that Sloth might be linked to Nurgle, insofar as one surrenders to the inevitable and succumbs to decay. It is not as easily linked to more modern interpretations of Grandpappy, but certainly ties into his earlier lore. Tzeentch, I would argue, is about Pride, or Hubris. A desire to know all, and control all. Magnus epitomised such a flaw.

That would leave us with Greed, by which we refer not to food (which comes under gluttony) but material possessions, and Envy, which can refer to both envy of possessions and envy or another's traits or characteristics, or even their status. Envy could, tenuously, link to Tzeentch.

Either way, that leaves us with a Chaos God who is all about accumulating stockpiles, but never using them. A Chaos God of Waste, but also of Acquisition. Always moving on from one thing to the next. Continuous expansion, driven by a need to satiate the most immediate desires, before leaving the remnents unattended, but also unavailable to others. My word, the Fifth Chaos God is Money, the Chaos God of Capitalism!

Eymon, the Chaos God of Waste, Expansion and Competition!

More like the chaos God of bureaucracy? Fed by a twist of rule upon more rules which may or may not apply to more thing.

So its official, GW is the 5th chaos god

Would the emperor be a god of order in the warp? The shape and form of the gods is related to belief and emotion. Do most of the empires citizens primarily think of order when they think of the emperor.

I think they see him as a saviour and the glue that holds the empire together. I think largely, he would be the god of humanity, in the same way gork and more are gods of the Orks. Just a warp manifestation of the entire personification of humanity and humanity is scared, abused and violent

Started reading that and was so glad you went there. Even further - the god of neoliberalism.

Would this be the Dark Lord Balans-shete, heralded by his prophet, Mar-d'jinn...?

It's a bit wierd to attribute a system of production with an ideology. but okay.

Btw,that would explain what assessors are and why they exist.

Tbf it is an ideology, Neoliberalism, which is an extension of Thatcherism and Reaganism, is the ideology of free reign open market capitalism and trickle down economics - it is absolutely an ideology of wealth distribution.

Because that's totally how it's worked? I mean, I don't know about you, but I've definitely experienced a growing middle class and not an unprecedented concentration of wealth under neoliberal approaches.

Economic policy, and by extension politics, are prohibidabido. If you’ve never seen Fired Up! and can tolerate some immature language and generally politically incorrect premises, then you should watch it and that would be funny to you.

We’re talking about making gods in a fictitious universe, not real world issues.

Given what modern humanity is doing with social media, I figure we can create enough new Chaos Gods to drive the original ones to the Emperor.

All you have to do is fire three rounds a minute, and stand

Just as the chaos gods were brought into existence by the sins of the mortal races, so too was the Warhammer world birthed by the misery that Thatcher and her policies brought about in the 70s and 80s.

Praise be to Malal.

A god of Chaos that humanity right now would create? A creature that revels in stagnation and infighting, that causes endless infighting for its own benefit. A creature with two heads that runs mortals round in circles and both mouths endlessly roar the words "debate me!". It too sits on a burning golden throne and only through endless toil will it be sustained everlasting.

Or I dunno maybe a big shark with legs.

Who knows?
