Including local stores where a half dozen or more of the handles will sit unsold. They can keep the artificer brushes company.

Fortunately, I've already got an expensive, premium made painting handle.

I think that's most likely because (at least when I saw the FB post about it) nearly every comment was comparing it to a "personal entertainment item" that isn't really appropriate for some of their target audience!

I wonder how easy the shafts of these will be to control when the largest section of girth is gripped tightly.

OMG, that paint job is amazing Dryaktylus. How on earth did you get the yellow that smooth?!

Less an “update” more a “we can’t get the original from the same manufacturer anymore; quick, come up with a replacement!”

The rumour is the release hasn’t been cancelled, merely postponed - I was told GW have decided to sit on them for a while until they feel there’s a decent opening.

No, no, they've delayed them because they're having the packaging redone to call them "Citadel Price Rise Trainers."

Wasn't there a rumor that Adam Poots of Kingdom Death fame had been hired to consult GW (or something similar?)

I think it's clear where is influence has been felt.

Perhaps too many of those who play, paint or collect Games Workshop complained that the girth of the painting handle was too big to get their hands around ...

Not a terrible new price, but I won't be picking it up until they sell the toppers separately.

Surface looks less grippy, in fact it looks quite like one of those especially slippy plastics.

The design makes me think its taking into account the girth of your fingers around the upper part of the handle. So when you move your painting hand in to rest against your holding hand you now have more chance to reach closer to the model and the underside of the model. With the previous chunky design your hand was raised up from the surface edge and then when you brought your painting hand in to rest against it you were further elevated.

Eh, the first one was something I hadn't seen before and seemed like a handy product (vs. a makeshift thing like blu-tacking a miniature to paint bottle), so it seemed an okay investment.

This seems like a costly, sporty redesign I don't have much use for. Useful if you didn't have one before, but not something I'd buy for the redesign. Also, seems likes there's been a plethora of other, better designs since the original came out (or, I've just now started to notice them).

It never ends well

I am embarrassed to admit that even though I have been into the miniature hobby since 1988, it was only a few years ago that I first used a handle. Absolute game changer, being able to paint for hours with no worry of getting a cramp in my hand is great. I am a batch painter by nature, so tend to do long sessions.

The current GW one is perfect for my needs, doubt I'll be rushing out to pick up this new one.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.
