The three regular opponents in the Crusade currently are Death Guard, Space Wolves, and a Sisters army who puts out nearly 20 Melta shots a turn. The other two worry me possibly, but I look forward to making her regret her reliance on Melta.

First of the trio of Canoptek Spyders ik converting from the new Reanimator model. Even has the addition of a Baby Maker that I had 3D printed for me. I will note that virtually none of this is my idea, I’m just copying what others have previously done because I do think it looks really good. Still deciding the best place to mount a Gloom Prism on one of these.

Nice, I love the reposing, it's just floating ominously. Congrats on reaching 1000 points! Judy won't know what hit her.

I’ve probably got closer to 2000pts already painted actually, but a number of it is superfluous to my current list building, which mostly relies on Warrior spam. The delay in the 1000pt army being finished just came down to saving the Overlord for last, as a You finished painting all your troops, now you’re allowed to paint the sweet character reward.

The actual planned 2000pt list just needs ten more Lychguard, which the flgs hasn’t had in stock for a while, and a Monolith, which I had planned to purchase but keep putting off in hope I win one thru one of GW’s recent spat of give aways.

Finished the trio of Canoptek Spyders, built out of Reanimators. Messed with the claws and necks on the additional two to repose those so they’re not all the same. Also I replaced their faces with a Wraith and two Spyder faces. Go prime these and I’ll work on getting them painted up this week.

Not that keen on the actual Spyder model, AudroT, or just no plans to field the Reanimators as they are?

I do like the actual Spyder model, I just think these look better in my opinion. I am also not opposed to Reanimators, and built and painted my one from Indomitus as is. These three were specifically purchased off eBay for the express purpose of building them into Spyders. Eventually I’ll pick up a Triarch Stalker and convert that into a big Canoptek thing as well. It may use the actual Spyder butt and some bits, or I may get another Reanimator for parts so it matches the rest.

In my common habit I’ve been really lazy in getting started on painting the Canoptek Spyders, so much so that the last of the Canoptek Scarabs I wanted and grabbed off of eBay showed up. Best prices were on some selling them in batches of six, and I only needed nine to max my allowance of them, so I chopped up the extra three accompany the Spyders and show the Baby Makers in action. You can also see where I stuck the lead Spyder’s Gloom Prism at this angle.

That stream of scarabs coming out of the baby-maker is great! Far better than the original spyder, which you have to break open to see the scarabs!

Finally getting around to working on a Monolith for my Necron forces. Need to gap fill the corners and some spots still. Never really do subassembly painting but with all the layered hollow space on this one I figure I should really do that here. Got a game with it this weekend though, and it reasonably stays together with a dry fit, and the rubber band adds some extra stability. I’m also working on a second unit of Lychguard, and I’ll probably end up painting those before I work up the motivation to tackle this monstrosity.

Despite being vastly more complex, three times the cost, and picking up the Titanic keyword, the new model Is slightly smaller than the old one though!

Really? Curious. It SEEMS bigger.
It also doesn't have as obvious "blocks" to do the stone-texture effect I did on the old one, so maybe it's best that I keep just the one old one I have...

Started painting up the first of those my newest Lychguard, as well as the Technomancer I converted to remove his Canoptek Cloak and make him walk. Probably could have had them done and ready for a scheduled game later today but I was lazy and just watched tv when I got home yesterday.

A new gaming aid I picked up this week, little snap on unit indicators from KWDesigns3D on Etsy. Always wished I had had something like this for my Bane hordes back in my Warmachine days, but I am not aware of existing as we’d not yet seen the rise of 3D printers like we have now. Just a nice something to easily mark otherwise identical units, as opposed to my Space Marines who all have organized squad markings.

These snap on quite easily, only little bits of flash on some of them that chipped off with no problem. The 32mm ones fit very snuggly, and don’t really move at all once they’re on. The 40mm ones are a bit looser, they’re not gonna fall off but they do rattle a little bit and I may glue those after I get my basing done later.

They also threw in a bag of extra freebies, which conveniently includes pairs of red, orange, and yellow that I can use to mark the Murder Buckets I had forgotten about until I was getting the Scarabs out.

First five of the Warscythe Lychguard finished up, along with the walking Technomancer. Gonna wait to do the rest of the Lychguard until I’ve gotten hold of the warscythes to have the whole unit built. In the meantime gonna work on my Phaeron’s Command Barge, try and have that finished before this weekend to get back to fully painted 1000pts status.

Getting started on the Overlord’s Command Barge. So much gold to paint, I only barely got my usual two coats done before I had to pack up. Gonna go back and do an extra third coat on some of the larger flat areas, even out some of the mottling from the gold’s generally poor coverage. Try and get that, the main silvers, and the sepia wash done tomorrow. Maybe start on the details. With luck I have it done before my game on Saturday so I can be fully painted.

Since I couldn’t play the new Subnautica yet yesterday I did indeed get quite a good amount of progress done. Base armors done and sepia washed. Main weapon and wire details done and Nuln Oiled the whole thing. Got back thru and did the first undercoat of white on the glowy bits. It’s coming along so nicely my standard issue Phaeron had to step in and check out his new ride. Just gotta paint the second undercoat of yellow on the glowy bits and then two coats of Tesseract Glow, and then paint up the bases in the temporary colors so they’re less unsightly.

Finished* my Phaeron’s might chariot, his Catacomb Command Barge, with magnetized feet so he can swap to the on foot base if deemed necessary. The actual wargear loadout of the melee version isn’t allowed on the chariot, so he’d act as proxy for a Warscythe in such a situation. Today though he’ll be showing off his new ride and wielding his trust Voltaic Staff in battle against Judy’s Sisters.

*I’m still stuborbly waiting for Green Stuff World to release their implied large crystals before I start working on all my bases, so the bases are just in temporary colors.

A good amount of plotting, asking various people for pictures of or looking at their models to compare various sizes, one donation of a Plasmacyte, and a bunch of carving and sculpting later, and The Deceiver is now a furry. Alternatively, Star Fox God. Let the last of the putty harden them get him primed and this’ll be my painting project for the week.

Opinion, paint his body/fur a single bright shiny gold, or use some washes and dry brushes to hint at a fox’s coloration pattern?

Finished up painting my Deceiver proxy conversion. Additionally I moved him down to a 50mm base, so it’s closer in size to the official 40mm. Didnt use that because it would be too small and a bit unstable for the model. Did his base texture while I was at it so I could get inside the hollow of the vortex. Really wish they had filled that in because it’s super inconvenient to work around.
