That's probably how it's going to go.
I voted for the Dread Pageant as well. No other GW model this year inspired me as much as pointy stick girl. Which is odd for me to say in the year we got plastic Sisters, but since those are exactly what I wanted, faithful recreations of the old models (and some things that aren't as great), I prefer to vote for models that present a modern update of something that we have basically not seen for thirty years: a coherent aesthetic for Slaanesh's mortal followers across an entire army. And a good one at that.
Honorable mention to Hypno-Cat. The one with the heart shaped horns is amazing.
Come to think of it I'd have preferred to vote for best three...

The line up this year was really darn good.
Was torn between ghaz void dragon and eltharion. But my vote went to eltharion ultimately.

Not sure what all the votes were for, I saw the Triumph and instinctively clicked. I do not regret my decision.

The Arvus certainly deserves the award for most adorable model of the year!

The Light of Eltharion is just crazy. I have zero love of the rest of the faction, but that thing is simply amazing.

I went with the Ogroid Myrmidon. Mainly because when I tried to scroll down the screen it selected it on my behalf. Good thing I do actually like the model...

So results are in: https://www.warhammer-community.com/2020/12/31/model-of-the-year-2020-the-results/
The top three are, in order; The Triumph of Saint Katherine, C’tan Shard of the Void Dragon and, taking the top spot, Makari and his sidekick Ghazghkull Mag Urku Thraka.
Honorable mentions go to Ragnar Blackmane, the Mega-Gargant, Szarekh the Silent King and (for reasons that still elude me) Archmage Teclis (why GW? Why?).

Seems reasonable that Ghaz won. Maybe GW will take the hint that people like Orks.

I am not at all surprised with the winner. I figured Ghaz would take it on name alone. It's a fine model, I don't think it deserved the top spot though. I think a couple of AoS and Necron models were way better this year. Speaking of which, I am a little surprised that the Void Dragon beat The Triumph of Saint Katherine. I certainly deserved its spot, I just though the Sisters of Battle would prove more popular.
I am shocked that Teclis made honorable mention. I really like the model personally, though; it certainly isn't even in my top 5 for Lumineth. However, Eltharion is several times better of a model both aesthetically and via engineering. Though, I suppose the engineering is most appreciated by building or at least holding the model in hand.

Though I didn’t vote, I do endorse The Void Dragon.
I’ve built a handful of GW’s ‘suspended’ models, and he’s head and shoulders above earlier efforts, because of how the model supports itself. It looks spindly, but it’s seriously stable, even just held together with blutak (due to painting considerations, mine is in stages).
From a purely technical point of view, he’s among GW’s best for my money.

I was genuinely excited to receive my Ghaz when he was released and he was the first model I spent a decent amount of time and effort into building and painting and was genuinely pleased and proud of the result.
He is a joy to own and was awesome to paint but he was up against some strong competition, there were some great models released this year for all ranges. If it wasn't for my innate Ork bias I would genuinely struggle to choose a favourite amongst them.

I'm also not so surprised that Ghaz took the first place, but he had some really tough competition this year with the new Necron centre piece models, the Megagargants, the new Sisters of Battle center piece model and a variety of small, but extremely pretty models from Warcry, Necromunda and the new Lumineth models. I was surprised that Ragnar made an honorable showing for himself. While certainly nice for a Primaris hero, he remains pretty bland and unimaginative compared to all the others.

You should try building one of these. It does not look like it should stay upright, yet somehow it does.
