Love the atmosphere of these models. The basing is lovely too.

The AK-style magazine is something I really love for some reason haha

So. yes its been ages. but yes I am still here.

anyway to whet your appetite, here is the next (possibly final) member of the Fallen party:

Uthor...
clad in ancient MKIII armour, Uthor is a no-nonsence warrior.
His seething contempt for his former Darkangel brethren is matched only by his fervor in battle...

yup, a truescale Mk3 that was simply achived using cataphractii legs and a mk3 torso, backpack and arms.
The pads are from the DA sprue and the helm is greyknights because of the ties to the hh knightly theme and the fact that I'm simply not a huge fan of the mk3 paint-kettle helms... LOL
The bolter is a tigrus but with an umbra mag slapped were the forgrip is. I put the magrelease there too and positioned the trigger/grip further down thegun to emulate the RT boltguns (much as I did in my space-shark project).
The supporting hand is from the heavy intercessor kit and is the "pew-pew" looking 'go!' pose which I simply found absurd, yet ideal here to show that this guy is such a badass that he only needs his index and middle finger to hold up a gun that would have a guardsmen heaving with the effort!
His kit and that, is the usual HH holstered boltpistol, some catachan pockets around the 'belt' area (helps to hide the join some) and a section of pennant from the old ravenwing sprue, it helps enforce the darkangel theme further as, to be honest, aside the pad and the pennant stuff he could be any chapter really...
the base was the one I showed you before but now littered with the excellent candles from anvil. they really are great and well worth getting hold of If you can...

more once he's painted!

I haven't been able to get into 30k designs for a long time, but this is quickly changing my mind.

Outstanding work.

Well, there are certainly a few us taking notes and making a grocery list. This certainly shaping up to be one the more cohesive fallen armies out there. A very useful guide for anyone looking to make such a force.

Ask yourself: have you rated a gallery image today?

Today I got Uthor done at last.

Uthor - Fallen angel in mk3

As you can see I kept the highlight much less overt on this one, as he has no robes and therefore the need to distinguish between the hard and soft surfaces was rendered obsolete, allowing me to concentratemore on subtle highlighting and more extensive weathering to add a bit of saturation to what is otherwise a plain black mini.
I also used more steel colours for the same reason and in the end I feel it enhances the whole, pragmatic no-nonsense Astartes that the character is. He's not interested in hiding under robes or lamenting over ruins, this guy is an unrepentant hard-ass who hides from no-man. He'll fight and if needed die to prove his point. As all astartes should, I suppose, but this guy does it to eleven...

This marks the end of the project now.
Yup, bored of black power armour and now that dark angels are about to be popular again my interst is gone.
In truth I did +/- all I wanted anyway and even a couple of extras that were rather unnecessary in the end. You'll see these ommitted from the final parting groupshot below.

was fun but I'm kinda glad its over now.
Fare the well folks...

yet more guard await!

Capt. Hodgeheg

"I have seen war in all its forms. I have seen feral world savages braining each other with stones, and I have monitored the death of a whole planet at the hands of a virus bomb. I have seen Space Marines drop to certain death, and win. I have seen Titans crush whole platoons underfoot. But there is no more stirring sight in war than the charge of massed cavalry." - Dravin Gratz, 14th Tharinga Regiment.

Very nice collection. It's making me want to revisit my own fallen unit. Maybe one day.

It's an amazing crew of dour marines wearing black-on-black. Superb atmosphere across the group, impressive paint control on top of conversions.
