I've really enjoyed burrows and badgers too, it's not too tough to pick up and there's a lot of character and variety to the warbands, what with all the various critters.

A game I've recently discovered, Band of Brothers, fits a table that size very nicely.
It's WW2 with an empthasis on gameplay realistically matching actual tactics as closely as possible.
Their tag line is something like "simplifying mechanics to create more realistic games". Which I think it achieves very well.

There is also StarBreach, if you are into sci-fi skirmish gaming. The rules are completely free, and the game is not tied to any particular miniatures line. I've fiddled around with it, and only had to make some specialty dice (order dice are pulled from a bag like Bolt Action)

The same designer has also released a Superhero skirmish game (currently in beta, but still available from the StarBreach website) that uses the same ruleset, modified to enable more powerful heroes to take more than one action in a turn, as well as a more detailed character creation system.

By Tabletop Games do you mean only miniature wargames or just any, well, tabletop games? Some people suggested a few boardgames and that's something that may provide an endless stream of new mechanics/settings to your 3x3' area

You can easily do warcry and shadespire on a 3x3 space.

Speaking of which, Tiny Wargames in the UK sells 3'x3' gaming mats in materials like linoleum (surprisingly good), fleece, and rubber.

Never played 40k at a 3x3 table.
Any experience? Point level?

... the 3rd-5th campaigns are SBH. the 2nd is "Tales of Blades and Heroes" a light RPG based on the same rules engine.


I'll say also that regardless of what game you settle on, SBH is a worthy addition to your library as a game that can use any fantasy miniatures and plays super-fast. A very reliable beer-and-pretzels game that delivers more than you'd expect.

As for mini-hammer, why not just play Epic?

The reason here being that Epic is a hugely mobile game that benefits from large boards it actually wants to be played on. Cutting table size in half becomes easier with downsizing 28 mm games and opens peoples eyes for the small scale possibilities

I'm sure you could play Infinity on a 3x3 space at lower points levels.

the new edition does have board size recommendations, and 3x3 is there for...i think 200-250 pts limit.

Range in Infinity is less important than terrain density for the most part. There are definitely guns that lose value on smaller tables though.
