Subject: What's the rarest Imperial Guard model you've seen?
No a set of ten metal "veteran" heads with bionics, dodgy hair choices and whatnot. I've done a google for them, but the only pic I could find is one of questionable origin.

And about 20 or so of the old Stormtroopers
I am not sure how old they are but they seem to fetch high prices on ebay
I think they were originally run around 2000/2001, but have no clue when production ceased. Well before I started looking for them in 2015 though - and they have only been getting rarer. Used to be able to find them on Bartertown or Ebay for halfway decent prices, but every auction I've seen of them in the past year or two has jumped to about 100$ for 10.
I know that if they ever go made to order, I would grab a whole bunch of them (in spite of the fact that I have I think 40 of them). They are my personal favorite model in the Guard line.

IIRC both Macharius and the storm troopers were among the first made to order Guard several years ago, but I could be wrong. Would love to be wrong, I'd love to get my hands on one or two Macharius models and some more of those storm troopers.

I've got a couple Lord Solar, though I've yet to do anything with them since I want them to actually look good when I'm done. One came as bare metal and unassembled, the other came mostly assembled and primed black with the dog from Kill Team on what I think is a 40mm base. I should probably check that to be sure. It looks pretty cool though, so I'd share the sellers image of it if I could remember how to make it display from elsewhere on the web.
I also have a squad and a half or so of the old Inquisitorial Stormtroopers with I think at lest one of each model (idk, but if they ever had a meltagun, I don't think I have that model), one squad of the Beret Stormtroopers including a Plasma gun, and two or three squads of my favorites, the Kasrkin, though just the Flamer & Grenade Launcher options they normally came with I think. I would like to get some Melta and Plasma for them though.
I've also managed to get my mitts on The Last Chancers and Gaunt's Ghosts, though I still need the extra three Ghosts that weren't in the box. Between those, the female Commissar, old Ogryns, and my good size collection of old Commissar in general, I'm pretty happy with my collection. Probably never be satisfied per se, but happy. I have enough Commissar that I could go WYSIWYG for just about every loadout they can have, and a few they can't anymore (looking at the Power Axe and Hand Flamer one as I type this).

When you say "bare plastic", do you mean that it still hasn't been painted or just that the arms were originally separate from a metal torso? I'm lucky enough to have gotten a few RT models that would have come with separate arms and weapons sprues, but I can't recall if the arms were plastic or just the weapons. The three I know of right now are all Commissars actually.

Yes for Macharius (its where I got my still unbuilt one from), no for Stormtroopers. It was Kasrkin they did during that.

The Stormtroopers had a melta option.

Nice collection! I've never heard of most of the Elysian models you mentioned since I never got into FW back when they were in production. I have to ask though, is the Catachan female with Grenade Launcher really that rare? I got two when I bought someone's old metal Catachan along with two of each of the other two Special Weapons models from the same blister with her along with one each of both Catachan Heavy Flamer models. I also see her as both a single model and part of the et of three she came in on ebay all the time. Usually overpriced in my opinion, but I've never considered her any rarer than the rest of them. Others here have listed her as rare too, so I'm starting to wonder.
Thanks for the info. I'll just have to go find that to round them off I guess. Hopefully I can find one for less than $10 since it's more for collection than use at this point.

Are these them? I should have a set or two, but I haven't seen them since moving house...

Sorry about that people, they were all deleted due to the fact that this website has a strong anti-recast policy and we do not let anyone post in a manner supporting it. I was going to post a note to that effect but got distracted by a small human and nuked them all instead of just the offending post.
So, uhm, Please do not post in a manner that condones, supports or promotes recasting on this site and my apologies to those people who have been adversely effected by nuking of posts.

I am curious about the Mordian Plasma I have because they have newer style plasma guns, but even if they were rereleased as a Made-to-Order, I find it hard to believe GW went through the time, effort, and money to make brand new models for them.

Ah, thank you for that clarification. I don't think I have anything that's recast, but if done well with the right materials I probably wouldn't know the difference myself. Part of that is that I collect old metal models so I've seen the whole gambit of what the metal can look like.
It amuses me that for once my silly wild tale of what might have happened was almost right on the mark. I really thought it was just some site error.

What Mordian plasma gun do you have? As far as I know, they only ever made the unreleased version. Never seen any other Mordian plasma gun.

You know what, let me set up an array of some of my metal IG and snap a pic or three of them to share. Never put the whole thing out at once and this has me a bit inspired to do so.

Would love to see that, I'm super curious if there's a Mordian I'm missing!

Out of curiosity, does that include recasts of long out of production models?

Unless it is something in the public domain then yes.

Alright, here we go. Do note, that unfortunately most of the models are unpainted. Of those that are painted, only the completed ones with purple and black/gray as the main colors are at least mostly my paintjob. The special banner bearer I only painted the guardsman. I bought him painted and based, but wanted him to match my main color scheme so I carefully repainted over the original colors. The other one I partially repainted is the purple and grey Ogryn. Got him from a friend and just redid the armor as a color test.
Part of the reason this took so long is because I ran out of room the first time, so I made a second array with the older faction specific models. I also included my Inquisition models cuz they sorta go with. I also threw two Easter egg models into the first setup for kicks.
Spoiler:
I added in a close up of the Mordian Plasma and Catachan Special/Heavy Weapons.
Whew. That took some editing to get displayed nicely.

Well damn, you're right. I honestly never noticed before. I thought it was a bit odd that their Plasma guns were a newer pattern, but never thought to look for signs of conversion.
Whomever did that did a really good job of it. They'll likely see more use as Plasma than Flamers these days, that's for sure.
