I bet they can't even find a definition of "base" in the rules either. Can we even prove that ANY 40k minis have bases using the rules?

Then you dont play it by the rules, because 100% it has a base.
I am playing by the rules. Mine did not come with a base. It may come with a base when you get the model from a game store, but I bought mine off e-bay and it did not have a base.

This may be the most "right" fighting post I have ever seen. Not that it matters, but there goes any creditability you had for me.

Why should eBay dictate rules?
I don't think anyone said they did.

The official model has a base. Therefore, if playing with the official rules, measure to the base.

Unless you think GW put a conversion of the Burna-Bommer on their store, it's got a base. That's taken right from the store page.
You know that a picture on a website has nothing to do with the rules of 40K right?

I have not ever spoken with you or encountered any of your posts, why would I have any creditability for you?

You really aren’t. Of all the Devil’s Advocates to play (which are rarely useful in and of themselves anyway) “My model was secondhand and came with no base” is self-evidently preposterous, sorry.

Is the point that I should tell my Ebay Seller to ship me my Armageddon Steel Legion boxes but keep the bases so they become untargetable?

This plastic kit can also be assembled as a Dakkajet, Blitza-Bommer or Wazbom Blastajet, and comes with a flying stem and Citadel 120mmx92mm Oval base.
And, as others have pointed out, what if I just don't put bases on my models? Since measurements have to be done to the base, excepting when the model has a rule to the contrary, can they just not be targeted and not target anything that needs a measurement?

ooh, my armageddon steel legion come on slotta bases - I can slot them in to shoot, then slot them out on the opponent's turn. They'd count as moving (since "any part of the model" has moved) but...

Maybe, just maybe, we all just stop giving these bad takes air. The game requires a certain level of common sense to function and this thread has left any semblance of common sense behind long ago.

They're not providing rules, they're providing the evidence that the model has a base. They're only indicating that you should have a base for the model. The rules don't take into account buying models secondhand with the bases being lost somewhere in the process.

A TO could keep you from using the model in a tournament without a base.

What happened to BCB?

And no, BCB was at least usually right. Maybe not someone I'd want to play a game with, but at least accurate in readings of RAW.

I'm saying you are quite frequently wrong. Not always-but frequently.

This is false, I am hardly ever incorrect.

Can you prove that? (We all know that you can not).
Quoted from my private messages. DeathReaper apparently wants to keep this hidden-I don't.

Just a general word of advice, to DeathReaper, but also others-be willing to admit when you're wrong. I've been wrong on this forum (and others) plenty of times. It happens, and when it does, you correct yourself. You shouldn't dig your feet in and insist you're right against all evidence, because it just makes you come off as a stubborn jerk.

How is that a "fix"? So, going with what you say, the model comes with a base. It's your responsibility to make sure it has a base for a game.

Not sure what happened. I hope its not because he's suffering from COVID.

And yes, I didn't mean for it to sound like BCB is wrong. It was just meant to be a playful banter on how far a discussion can escalate.

It is a fix because you said "they're providing the evidence that the model has a base" which is technically not correct. Not every Burna-Bommer model has a base. They do come with a base if you buy it from GW though.

I like to be precise.

We all should be precise when discussing the rules.
