Uhm, they didn't? They had a pair of datasheets attached to the painting guide and instructions which weren't actually legal anywhere because it was both open play only and overridden by the codex, as all datasheets from the boxes. Felthius and his cohort have never been a part of any book.

BattleScribe is not a replacement for real rules.

You are correct in that they were never matched play legal as a unit from the box. I guess I'm just saying they did have a datasheet so you could use them. It's not like they came out with zero rules.

And let's be real here -- adding a melee weapon to the plaguespewer model is just about the easiest conversion in the history of conversions.

I actually wonder if they'll replace one base with a 50mm base for old Felthy himself? Anyway, it's nice they've brought the kit back. More variety is always nice.

If you used that datasheet for open play, nothing is preventing you from just continuing to do that. In that regard he isn't much different than the WD rules for goff rockers.

7 Ork facts people always get wrong:
Ragnar did not win against Thrakka, but suffered two crushing defeats within a few days of each other.
A lasgun is powerful enough to sever an ork's appendage or head in a single, well aimed shot.
Orks meks have a better understanding of electrics and mechanics than most Tech Priests.
Orks do not think that purple makes them harder to see. They do think that camouflage does however, without knowing why.
Gharkull Blackfang did not even come close to killing the emperor.
Orks can be corrupted by chaos, but few of them have any interest in what chaos offers.
Orks do not have the power of believe.

The henchmen are nice enouh and could be useful to add bodies to blight lords, but jesus that face on Felthius hasn't got any better looking.

Defo a head swap there..

I like his big stupid looking face.

Is this a webstore only release or is retail going to get it as well?

The codex has changed absolutely nothing about how legal or illegal those models are. Plague spewer without an axe or a sword has never been legal and neither has fielding just three terminators.

In 8th there was a rule allowing you to field understrength units. I don't play the game anymore so I don't know if that made it into 9th or not, but it was there in 8th. Also, the models are only illegal if run in their respective original squads. If this set comes with its own rules insert inside the box, it's a totally different unit and not subject to the rules of other data sheets.

I like his face.

I feel like the lack of an axe or sword in the spewer model's hand should be a pretty easy fix, if you were bothered about WYSIWYG.

Those are pretty schweet models. Redemptionists are my favourite recent releases. These are just enough to paint though, would take a month.

You can field an understrength unit in 9th, no problem there.

I pre ordered it. If you get 2 Blightlord boxes at the same time you can build your Blightlords with 2 Blight Launchers and Flails and 1 with a Plague Spewer, so that way you can swap the spewers/blight launchers/flails in and out of your 5 man units depending on your army list.

Lord Felthius does not need a face swap imo. The fact people dont like his smiling face is totally the reason im leaving mine as is and painting it up nicely. He is a Lord of Contagion with a Manreaper and Orb of Dessication in his other hand. I will use my Lord of Contagion model from Dark Imperium as my Plague Reaper HQ.

Automatically Appended Next Post:
Giving the Plague Spewer Blightlord that comes in the box a Bubotic Axe is a piece of cake.

What would be hilarious, is if GW decides to sneak in a 9th edition new datasheet in the box, I guess well have to wait and see when it comes in the mail.

I really like Felthius' stupid face.

He's the only Marine in my Death Guard army without a helmet.

He's just having so much fun playing catch with his gooey plague ball.
