This is a pretty huge addition. With Litany style-buffs it means we have a lot more flexibility instead of relying on everything in the Pyshcic Phase. Notably, his abilities don't appear to be restricted to CORE which is huge as well. Popping that +1 Strength buff on Forgefiends or a Heldrake and ignoring cover on some other models can end up being pretty massive.

I'd love to see a modern take on a Silver Tower, since the Heldrake pretty much covers the old Epic Doomwing design space.

It probably shouldn't be a literal wizard tower on a disc anymore, but some kind of floating monolith with perhaps horrors or tzaangors aboard to conduct some rituals might work.

They've already done modern versions of the Silver Towers, they're the size of Imperial starships.

Silver towers are now basically massive silver pillars that operate as space ships. I'm not sure if they "have" smaller versions for 40k scale battles, but I guess there's literally nothing stopping them from saying they do.

So posting here becomes more masturbation than conversation.

We already have two disciplines: Change and Dark Hereticus. Three if you include Discipline of Tzeentch for Magnus and Daemon Princes. While Aspiring Sorcerers are restricted to Change, characters can mix and match freely.

This model is the TS Chaplain except he's also a psyker.

But note in the article it also says : "That means they also get to wield powers from the two expanded psychic disciplines available to the Thousand Sons". So we're down to two, but they're expanded.

Hopefully that means either (1) we're keeping Dark Hereticus and ditching Tzeentch, or (2) if we lose Dark Hereticus, they still fold the key powers (Death Hex, Warptime, Prescience) into the expanded lists we are keeping.

Would sure be nice if each discipline gets us a power like Smite, that we can cast multiple times. LIkea 0-default spell everyone gets.

No. Familiars/homunculi are predominately a Tzeentch thing in both 40k and Fanatasy, dating back decades. There is simply not ambivalence in this.
Tutialries are established background for the TS from the moment their origin was fleshed out. They were a thing even before they fell to Chaos.
"To avoid utter annihilation the legion makes a pact with one of the devils. " is the cliff note version of the TS backstory.
It is hard to conceive a rule that is more on theme than this.

I would think that this guy is more the TS equivalent of the Master of Possession.

About the model, I really like the addition of the screamers. The helmet would be good if there wasn't that thing sticking up in the back. I'll probably replace it with a CSM helmet.

Rules wise he sounds like a Thousand Sons psyker/chaplain that will be able to do a "prayer" in the command phase and maybe only 1 spell in the psychic phase, all for the same price (90 points) as a basic sorcerer.

It gives TSons some way around anti-psyker which we'll hopefully see a bit of in the codex.

I like the model.

I like the lore reasons given.

Lorewise he sounds much closer to a MoP, but mechanically it sounds almost exactly like a Chaplain/Priest that is also a Psyker.

Chaplain who is also a psyker... Grey Knights have one of those.

As a TS player I am really liking both the model and what we have seen of the rules so far. I mean TS still only have 3 elite and 2 fast attack choices (one of which is spawn) so I was really hoping for one or two more units in those battlefield roles, but this guy will do, and I will probably end up overpaying an Ebay scalper for two of them. While I liked the idea of the cults, I am really hoping the "two expanded psychic disciplines" include some of the better cult spells and are in addition to the two disciplines Tzeentch and CSM powers. Then those could be taken by all psykers and used on any TS unit, instead of being extremely limited by cults.

Screamers make the model for me, but I don't get why the wedding ring on the chopping arm/making a salute in an akward position on an armored hand.
