I did hear expansions for Cursed City were planned, like with Blackstone Fortress. But, we'll see.

I expect that The last 40k books this year will be Thousand Sons, Grey Knights and Orks. AoS Will have probably two battletomes out this year.

I do expect Underworlds season 5 in the Fall, with maybe one warband expansion released before the end of the year.

Usually there are not big releases in December, just gift-stuff, like the Army boxes/ specialist games.

All of that will keep things really busy, along with the other releases we know about.

Does GW bother to go to or react to Gen Con at all?

Privateer was always obsessed with various conventions, but GW hasn't bothered much with anything outside the warhammer specific ones like adepticon and whatever. At least not that I remember (and online pandemic previews aside)

Didn't they do they last few? Maybe I'm getting my game shows mixed up....

I would be very surprised if they released expansions for a game they no longer sold.

And same with Krieg; building a command squad and heavy weapons team and releasing the lot for 40k would what, quadruple sales? Quintuple?

The one thing we know about GW is they like money.
Not enough to redo Cursed City.
There was talk from well-known sources saying that GW has washed their hands of CC. It is why they released the models seperately.

There's always talk about crap like that and a good chunk of the time it's nonsense.

But do note that both Silver Tower and Blackstone Fortress had most of the models released separately. Cursed City had the items released that were in the Soulblight Gravelords army book, nothing else.

Blackstone Fortress had the Enemies sprue released as its own product for awhile, intended to "add on" to the main game. Then there was the Escalation Cultist add-ons put out by themselves as well. In both cases, it was a weird "unlimited yet limited" product.

Radukar's Court is the most important item from Cursed City, from an AOS gamer perspective, as everything in there is also in an AoS army book. None of the Adventurers, unfortunately, are in an army book.

They tend to do something at most of the big ones. Previews tend to go along with what the shows trend towards though. Here is the GenCon 2019 preview. Mostly Specialist Games fare.

Tyranids. There were a couple nid looking bits in the Rumor Engine earlier this year, and the new Warzone/WD seemed to be leaning in that direction as well.

Past the Kill Team box, I also expect general Krieg kits, at least a infantry box out of whats in KT and hopefully a HWT and Command squad, because might as well. And at that point, might as well do the Guard codex, and a character or two.

Not only nids, but we know there's at least one model coming for GSC (I suspect only one model, sadly, similar to DE/GK/Tsons)

What GSC stuff? The hand on what looks like a detonator? It could be GSC but I could also see a DKoK model with something like that.

In any case, their problem isn't really a need for new kits, it's fixing the stuff they have IMO.

It's not a DKoK model. It has claws and the carapace of a GSC Hybrid.

I'd assume this is DKoK but I don't remember seeing it on the stuff previewed:

Okay yeah, agreed on the GSC bit. I was posting from memory and was wrong.

I want the Eldar thing to be Eldar but I'm not sure that's a slam dunk. We'll see. Same with the Inquisition, though it could be for another KT release.

Yes, they've been at GC the last few years.
Mostly Black library, FW, & misc merchandise. Tucked off in a corner of the dealers hall. Not particularly flashy or noticeable, & not as any sort of gaming presence.
Basically show up & sell some stuff.

There are no 1ksons or other GK players here, so boxs won't be ordered and split, so I will have to wait for Crowe. Rather exited about it, GK in 8th didn't get any new models, so maybe they will update other stuff too next edition.

I suspect Nids or guard will be the last 40k this year. Maybe we'll get both.

Has there been 2 week preorder for codex? Don't think so.

October has confirmed chaos battletome for AOS.

I don't mean a two week pre order window for a single codex, I mean the releases spread out over 2 weeks of pre orders.

Good list, I could see a 6th sneaking in, or a 6th & 7th if they drop both Knight codexes just in time for christmas.

I'm still wondering if there is some legal issue with Cursed City that required them to distance themselves from it completely, with a disgruntled creator getting a settlement under NDA which is why we haven't heard anything. It is a really bizarre reaction by GW otherwise.

Yeah side-by-side Knight codexes in time for Xmas would make sense, help to shift some big models for the holidays.

If I'm right these are the remaining factions still to come for 9E, not including anything new like a Black Templars supplement, or EC / WE release:

Custodes / SoS - I'd expect some new units for these guys
Imperial Guard - probably more DKOK stuff to come
Imperial Knights

CSM - When this comes out will depend if anything is happening with EC / WE.
Chaos Knights
Daemons - Can't see them getting many new models after the last few years

Craftworlds - hopefully a big Orks-level overhaul in 2022
GSC - at least one model is coming, although they'd don't need many new models just working rules
Harlequins
Tyranids - betting they'll get a Kill Team release plus a character model alongside the codex, around Octarius book 2
Tau
Ynnari?

I'm convinced it was a supply issue. It's a boxed game with lots of components likely sourced from China, released at a time container costs were skyrocketing & very unreliable. If GW were also struggling with production capacity it makes sense that a product like that is the first thing to get scrubbed or postponed.

Yeah, there's gotta be something going on there. It's why I had figured there might be a rerelease- it went in seconds the first time around; if they kept a lid on it until a surprise preorder, it would do the same again.

The adventurers are great- there's one that could slot in as a Witch Hunter with almost no conversion work, there's one who looks like he was purpose built as a sidekick for Janus Draik, and there's another who might work as a sister Famulous.

Wow I really hope the Ork Codex is here in August and not September.

I don't think another production run of Cursed City is off the table, especially if there were expansions planned. BSF got a reprint as I recall, unfortunately Escalation the middle expansion is the one hard to come by.

Which model looks like a Janus Draik sidekick? I want to keep an eye out for RT esque models.

You're looking at a month or so, at least, since the Beastsnagga boxes just dropped.

Lumineth had a much heftier wait between army pack to general release.

Not expecting any "major" 40k codex + model releases this year other than the Black Templars. TS+GK+Orks+BT+maybe IG and/or Nids does sound like a good shout to me.

I keep saying this, and it's entirely possible that it was one or both of these scenarios. You don't hype a boardgame like Cursed City for literally months at a time, with all intents looking like it's going to be a permanent product, only to pull all mention of it on the day of release, up to and including the special website that was built for it, and pull a 180 claiming it was always intended to be limited, without a very good reason. Guarantee that GW was not planning for this Cursed City scenario, they were planning to sell many, many more copies than they were able to.

The models are available.

CC was big discount box. Do you think GW wants to sell you stuff for discount?

Also CC contains stuff they brought in from 3rd party.

Those are the models I want.

Baddies don't suck, and I'm glad THEY are available. But Jelen the Witch Hunter is not. Nor is the dude with the revolver who looks like he was sculpted specifically to be Janus Draik's co-pilot/ bodyguard. When these models are released, I will buy them, and likely stop complaining. But they aren't available, and you shouldn't pretend that they are.

I doubt it happens but i had a fun thought, something like a monster mash box set of Tyranids Vs Demons. I am hoping either a tzangor based Tzeench side or a few new khorne kits and a khorne demons vs some mid sized tyranid models (warriors and hive guard). Doubt it happens but I am hoping we get good new books for both.

Cursed City was always claimed to be a permanent fixture (like BSF)... until it wasn't. Then GW went back and removed all references to it being a permanent fixture were removed. Later still they announced it wasn't coming back and was in fact limited edition all along!

What I think happened, which has been supported by what I've heard from the grape vine, is that GW produced a first batch which they expected to last a while.

Sales massively outstripped expected demand, and they were left with empty shelves way sooner than expected.
No matter, second batch coming right up!

So they went looking to produce a new batch. Due to various factors (choose which you think is most important based upon your political leanings) costs of the goods in China had skyrocketed. So getting a second batch would be too expensive to turn a profit, perhaps they're bound to the same supplier by contract or perhaps they couldn't find a cheaper alternative.

Either way, as they couldn't profitably sell a second batch they decided to sweep it under the rug.

I'd buy it. Would love to build a Predator-style Kill Team setup with Catachans, something Xenos like Lictors, and a load of jungle scenery. My Ripper Jackson is sat all lonely in her box waiting for a squad to lead!
