Hmm, gak seller for sure. And my sympathies.

This is on you.
1) You can clearly see there's stuff missing & no loose bitz visible.
2) the seller did state incomplete..
3) The price.
If you aren't familiar with what's missing from a lot you should have definitely been asking questions, sking for more pics,, etc. not assuming.

You know that saying about a deal being too good to be true?
And that one about buyer beware?
Here's a perfect example of each.

Your best bet for the missing parts is 3d printing.
Other wise your going to spend serious $$$ making these parts functional.

My overall advise beyond 3d is to get the codex (as cheap as your comfortable with), plan out what you really want/need (realizing that rules could shift on you in the future), go buy that, and write off these bitz as an expensive error.

Oh, I'm well aware of my own blame in this. I know the 'true good to be true' saying all to well. I've made my peace with it since this afternoon. Now I'm just looking for the best avenue foreward.

Dang, you're handling it well, but that sucks. My sympathies with you and the hive mind :(

Sell them on. Tyranids haven't had a good codex since 4th Ed and I don't see it changing any time soon. No one at GW plays them, so they get no love. I say this as someone who's played and collected Nids in every edition since 2nd.

Nids were great in 2nd: "Jones is acting strangely..."

I also liked a later Codex which let you personalize your swarm by reducing unit types to gain advantages.

What to collect? Aim for those Genestealers.

Damn, that seller/listing is soo sketchy. Almost every word choice/phrase relating to the description of the item(s) is deliberately vague or misleading. They just slide in their own weird jargon -- instead of the words or phrases players/GW commonly use -- to avoid actually describing what they're selling.

"sku's incomplete" ... Who ever calls sprues SKU's?
"You are bidding on lot of Tyranid Army sets." ... sorry, Tyranid Army sets? What are those? Do you mean kits, boxes?
"Boxes have been used" ... don't you mean "models have been assembled?"

Then, as noted, instead of individual pictures of the sprues they provide messy stacks.

Sorry you got scammed, and I hope you take it up with ebay and get a refund.

Yeah, especially for someone not inherently familiar with the army, that seems like a really misleading listing.

Just calling it an "army" seems suspect enough. How can it be an army when all it actually contains is about 6 termagants?

I've already started the process with eBay. I put in the official request with the seller, he has 2 days even though he's already told his answer. Then I'll take it to eBay. Fortunately I made out on a ccg lot recently and once I sell those cards it'll cover my loss with the nids and still be a head a bit. So if I can't get a refund I'll have to sell the bits. Would it be better to leave them all on sprue or clip them and put them in a bag? Clipping them would save quite a bit in shipping and I'd list what kits they are from.

Yeah the terminology is as vague as possible. 'Used' 'incomplete' are such broad terms. The title should have had 'bits lot' in it somewhere.

Clipping will probably get you better results, though some of the bits are mighty small (poison sacs, adrenal glands, etc.) and you'd probably have to sell those in lots.

It never ends well

Good stuff! Coincidentally, I was tempted by that exact auction a couple of weeks ago after searching tyranid army. Had a closer look and realized they were selling a bunch of nearly useless “sprues.” How can they claim no misrepresentation? It’s either that or they are total idiots…. Incomplete SKU…

Glad to hear the good guy won.

No advice as I too am jumping back into 40k with ‘Nids after twenty-five or so years away (everything was metal then except for genestealers because they were in Space Hulk). I’ve also been told they are relatively weak, but I’m caught on the look and the idea of a nearly mindless horde of bugs overwhelming my foes a la Starship Troopers.

Don't listen to the naysayers. Tyranids are sitting in the middle of the pack based on win rate. They went around 50% at the Orlando Open, which was better than Aeldari and Harlequins. They are also in around the median in faction win rate, although only 4.55% according to 40KStats since the release of the Admech Codex.
Uhh! Who cares what their win rate at a tournament is? What an exceptionally boring method of judging an army.
My point being those who were saying "sell them and buy marines" were unselling the army's competitiveness. It might not light the competitive scene on fire, but it isn't bottom barrel either. Therefore, you should be able to have fun with the army without feeling you will lose every game you play.

But has op got right models?

If he has to buy essentially totally new nid army not much different to sell and buy other army.

And huzah for scummy auction ending. Take that scammer.
