I always find it funny when people start asking "But what if we only wanted to commit a little bit of heresy. Would that be okay?"

Sure, Space Marines with Skaven heads and Space Marines with beastman heads look cool. But that "But what if someone was desperate enough to try it?" is the same sort of "But what if someone was desperate enough to try it?" that resulted in the creation of the Death Guard.

So what you’re saying is, it has precedent?

How much DNA rearranging happens when someone is made into a marine? From what I remember, the process is mostly pumping special hormones in the kids and implanting new organs, which shouldn't change the host's genetic code. If we're following real science, anyway... Compatibility with that treatment is the main issue when picking new candidates but it's not clear what makes it possible or not so it's hard to tell how it would go with abhumans who might be 99% human from a genetic point of view.

Enough DNA rearranging happens for marines' faces to physically change to resemble their primarchs'. Which is apparently also enough for Space Wolves to start instinctively howling at things, for Blood Angels to consistently have shared hallucinations, and for Black Dragons to grow horns and bone blades.

Personally, I'd love to see full-on beastmen getting turned into marines, cause that's how you get actual sci-fi minotaurs!

I'm all for chaos-y beast marines.

ATTENTION
. Psychic tests are unfluffy. Your longing for AV is understandable but misguided. Your chapter doesn't need a separate codex. Doctrines should go away. Being a "troop" means nothing. This has been a cranky service announcement. You may now resume your regularly scheduled arguing.

Seems I’ve stumbled upon a proper “nobody really knows!” question!

And yeah, I would love to see someone do Beastmen or Skaven type Chaos Astartes, and have the background be actual Abhumans raised up.

I don't know but I'm now thinking of super buff looking Squats and what an awesome idea that would be, and that the Tyranids would not have got anywhere near those guys

If the plot necessitated it, I bet they could put geneseed into an ogryn and end up with some sort of even bigger space marine.

You just solved the Scale Creep issue that has been pressing since the original Mk6 Rogue Trader Marines.

Grotsnik out here predicting what will replace Primaris when their line is filled out

This sounds like something Bile would definitely be interested in though.
