They where? 9th edition started with a massive point increase on all units. I thought it dies out with 8th edition. I could be wrong.

Slaanesh Daemons was kind of meta for a while.

As people have said with certain exceptions (massed Skitarii) you just get a lot of models which do relatively little, and they proceed to die in droves if anything serious looks at them funny. The aim is to die slowly on the objectives - but in practice the meta is so aggressive that's just statistically very unlikely to happen.

Now if you bring a load of troops against someone running a softer list that can't just delete everything, then you can have a big advantage.

What exactly creeped against hordes? Blast was already a thing. Admech and DE are just strong overall.

Ork boyz hordes were fine, goffs hordes were the most competitive build for greensking for at least an year after 9th was released. They were wiped out by the 9th ork codex with the loss of all their buffs, including how to mitigate morale.

Yes, shockingly the best 2 armies in the game by a mile have a big impact on the competitive meta.

But even a plain Assault Intercessor throws out enough attacks to make a sizable dent in a horde.

Assault Intercessors are not creep though.

I think people get the sense that hordes are dead, because running 120 boyz is now really difficult, Tzaangors are no longer punchy, cultists are abused, and daemons and nids have really old books.
