I've started to print a small (heh) Epic eldar army and I'm printing the incredibly detailed models from lord_chronos... and boy are they good!

Spoiler:

The detail is insane, and the sets are very reasonably priced (plus free grav vehicles), in case someone needs some smol space elves:

https://cults3d.com/en/users/Lord_Chronos/creations

(plus, the guys has recently seen his stuff pirated and was discouraged, so I'd like to show some love).

Ooh, that's more like it! Much better than the crummy GW Crusaders. If I could get different poses it would be perfect, but honestly I'm probably only going to need a couple of these so it should work! Thanks for the heads-up!

If you've got a computer that can handle it, it's worth taking a few hours to learn the basics of rigging and posing in Blender. No more single-pose models after that, throw in some basic Meshmixer cutting and sticking and you're in digital kitbash heaven with your whole STL library!

And don't forget the magic that is mirroring! Its like being able to extend the lifespan of underpants by wearing them inside out! (caution, wearing underpants longer than one day in any configuration may affect your ability to talk to civilised people)

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Sometimes you have to be careful with mirroring, eg mirroring units holding shields is fine so long as you don't mind them swapping hands holding the shield; or if the core body is separate and the arms are able to socket to either side.

Also keep an eye on any writing on the model.

Otherwise yep mirroring is a great way to help get more visual braek up with a larger unit or even just two big models.

Does anyone know of anything similar to the Wargame Exclusive Necrocyborg kits? Something that allows the extra bits from a unit sprue to be made into additional units? Doesn't have to be for necrons specifically, just anything that allows a kits extra bits to be used.

Well, Avatars of War is doing some old school WFB stuff, but I'm not sure if the style would be old enough for 2nd edition:

Me again, now on the hunt for Star Wars Legion stuff (because my whims are fickle!). I'm familiar with the better-known makers like Skullforge, Dark Fire and Seb Miniatures, but other than them Thingiverse and Cults turn up a lot of low-quality files or unprintable video game assets ect. Any era is good, and especially any character minis of a decent standard.

You already named a few. There are also: Madox, Warblade Studio, Black Remnant, and a few one off files like free Cara Dune and Mando from Velrock Arts, and others.

Does anyone know where I can find a model similar to the mechanical floating 5 faced beings from a popular eighties cartoon?

For more details, the mechanical beings float and have an egg shaped body with 5 mechanical tendrils that sprout from the bottom. The five faces generally represent Anger, Wrath, Wit, Wisdom, and Doubt.

I’m not looking for a straight up duplicate necessarily. Just something similar in concept that I can print (or have printed) to fit on a 50mm round base.

Awesome! Thanks for the fast responses and the help. Now to find someone with a resin printer that can scale it down to the size I want. My FDM printer will not get the detail I want in this case.

Thanks again!

Hey all!

I am looking for some chaos spawns. They do not need to resemble GWs in any way but any mutated blobs you can think of. It is for an Iron warriors army, so some kind of mutated armour stuff would work as wel. Maybe someone knows some good looking spawns

I'm looking for possible proxies for Beyond the Gates of Antares units, if there's something along those lines out there.

That said, I'm not really looking for 1:1 replacements or anything, just stuff that might gel with the sleek, futuristic aesthetics that most of the game has, but OTOH I'm thinking about using Pipermakes drones for virai dronescourge, so you know, as long as it looks cool

I'm looking for some small ruins, ideally something that will fit on a 60mm base for a flying Nazgul model (I acquired one that I'm going to build as Khamul the Easterling and I wanted to do an interesting base for him). The ruins would obviously need to be fitting for a fantasy setting. I've looked around a bit and failed to come up with anything suitable, but I'm hoping someone else here might have a lead or two.

My armies (re-counted and updated on 11/1/23, including modeled wargear options):
Dark Angels: ~15000 Astra Militarum: ~1200 | Adeptus Custodes: ~1900 | Imperial Knights: ~2000 | Sisters of Battle: ~3500 | Leagues of Votann: ~1200 | Tyranids: ~2600 | Stormcast Eternals: ~5000

This any goood? Either scale the base to 60mm and print as is, or use Meshmixer/3d builder to do a simple plane cut and just keep the ruin itself, and print at the desired size.

Alternatively, if you want asloghtly more Elven/Numenorean feel, these could be put together into something suitable.

I'm looking for regular scifi powerpacks or jump packs suitable for Eldar, but without wings. Any suggestions, guys?

You could print the Corsair backpack but without the vanes

https://cults3d.com/en/3d-model/game/corsair-space-jump-pack

Eldar flight packs have always had the wings aesthetic to differentiate from the more functional imperial amd ramshackle ork kit.

What kind of aesthetic are you after? There are various mandalorian style stls out there that could maybe be modified simply with some eldar style jewels and blisters. Otherwise the main choices are imperial styles with one or more mai. Jets and with or without wings, or the slightly more discrete tau style, again with or without wings.

Please excuse any spelling errors. I use a tablet frequently and software keyboards are a pain!

Something along these lines. Pretty vanilla sci fi. I found one stl but when I went and checked it it was 1/1 scale

I'm looking for a Tyranid Tyrannocyte proxy. I'm not buying the floating ball sack that is the official model. I've found a good one at one page rules, just wondering if there's any others out there I haven't found.

One Page Rules was who I was going to reference. Also note that at some stage they are going to re-do a bunch of the Tyranid models - they've already teased some redesign concepts in their discord now and then.
Other than that I think Hydracast had one but he's selling physical products and is based in Russia so I think he's pretty much shut down at present.

Just thought I'd quote myself to let anyone else looking for beef-jerky draugr know, this month's Artisan Guild patreon has provided what I was looking for.

Now, my new white whale is some decent G-Men/Men In Black types in STL, and maybe some XCOM style gray aliens/sectoids with decent variety of poses.
