If I was cynical I'd point out how Cavill always hyped up his 'geeky' side when a new season of The Witcher is coming out. I remember last time there was barely any hype about it until "Omg omg omg he has geeky hobbies JUST LIKE ME!!! Omg omg I love anything with Cavill in it now!!!"

But I'd only say that if I was cynical of course.

There's nothing cynical about it. It's reasonable to assume that this is at least in part marketing for his particular niche of acting roles, but that doesn't make it any worse for us as a community. We can only profit from large, handsome chad actors normalizing our hobby.

You're both too cynical, he's been talking about video games for alot longer than Witcher was planned and has shown his models on instagram before. However it becomes a bigger thing when a new season is coming out just because he's doing more interviews. So more opportunities to talk about it means it comes out more especially since the games based on a video game.

He also doesn’t always draw attention to it. He’s wearing a custodes hoodie on Instagram but doesn’t mention anything warhammer related, not even a hashtag

Not about Mr Cavill (sorry, I always feel uncomfortable using first names if I don’t know the person. Just me being me) as such, but GW’s “golden age” during the pandemic.

This article might be the best one I've seen - takes it more "seriously" instead of written tongue-in-cheek and has a nice shout out to Middle-earth. Hope the author enjoys their first mini!

"...and special thanks to Judgedoug!" - Alessio Cavatore "Now you've gone too far Doug! ... Too far... " - Rick Priestley "I've decided that I'd rather not have you as a member of TMP." - Editor, The Miniatures Page "I'd rather put my testicles through a mangle than spend any time gaming with you." - Richard, TooFatLardies "We need a Doug Craig in every store." - Warlord Games "Thank you for being here, Judge Doug!" - Adam Troke

Isn't Big Band Theory mostly watched by nerds though? Any community should laugh when someone makes good fun of them. Nerd communities are no exception.

Yep. Deliberately aimed at 'middle America', something the writers are very honest about.

Contrast with Frasier - where the humour ran the gamut from silly to highly niche with the latter requiring considerable knowledge to get the jokes. The writers deliberately embraced going as 'highbrow' as they could as often as they could get away with. The Big Bang Theory has a conspicuous absence of science jokes. Jokes about science and scientists, but jokes that require an actual measure of knowledge of any sciences are very rare.

And on the BBC Site today - Quiz of the week: Which 'nerdy' hobby is Superman Henry Cavill into?

It was Warhammer, a fantasy game in which enthusiasts paint miniature figures, then have them battle. Cavill is known as an aficionado of Warhammer 40,000 - a science fantasy version set in the future - having referred to his love of the game on Instagram last year. "You do fly your nerd flag with pride," Norton told the Jersey-born actor, for which the host was later criticised. Cavill corrected Norton when he asked him about playing World of Warcraft, which is a fantasy role-playing game played online. Dungeons & Dragons is a different game again, a tabletop fantasy role-play adventure.

It seems Henry would rather play the role of a Primarch than a “mere” Inquisitor such as Eisenhorn, although he’s far from ruling it out…

Henry Cavill discusses 40K again in a Netflix interview. Jaskiers actor brings up that he plays as well (Necrons for him next).

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

The best part of that response is when he's asked the question his immediate response is "Which universe?".

Tell me that's not the kind of answer you'd give initially.

And the thought of Dandelion playing Necrons is hilarious.

Love the interaction when they find out both play:
"necrons, cool, should we?"
"yes!"

The warhammer Instagram posted the interview to their story. Have they done that before?

GW should be doing everything in their power to make this happen.

This should be pound signs instead of eyeballs for GW, cartoon gak.

I mean you can only assume if they've posted it on their Instagram then they plan to do something with it.

Probably waiting to gauge reaction from their official page then taking it from there.

I demanded a 40K match actors vs. wrestlers back when Cesaro and Baszler visited Warhammer World, and I still stand by that.

But, if GW gets involved, they'll have 'sold out'.

I doubt anyone famous outside the hobby will take sponsoring or support.
