Stuck in the snow.

I've wanted to make a small collection of Necromunda-esque Killteams to represent veteran units of chaff infantry fighting a war through a Hive World. Sort of an "invasion of Armageddon" style Kill Team campaign with custom units and wargear.

Specifically I want to make unique Veteran teams for blessed Cultists of each Chaos god, Renegade Guard, Dark Mech, Imperial Guard, and Ad Mech.

Why haven't I made them? Too many unbuilt kits on my pile, too much money to buy new kits that I won't get to soon, and not enough time...

I've toyed with the idea of getting a beastmen army, I love how they look. Problem is they have tons of units that are in finecast. That killed my interest in collecting them.

Ordo Reductor for 30k.
Fully converted Skaven to Guardsmen for 40k.
I will likely never do the second due to falling out of love with the 40k game, but maybe a converted kill team to use with various rule sets one day. Ordo Reductor won't happen because no one I know plays 30k.

‘What Lorgar’s fanatics have not seen is that these gods are nothing compared to the power and the majesty of the Machine-God. Already, members of our growing cult are using the grace of the Omnissiah – the true Omnissiah, not Terra’s false prophet – to harness the might of the warp. Geller fields, warp missiles, void shields, all these things you are familiar with. But their underlying principles can be turned to so much more. Through novel exploitations of these technologies we will gain mastery first over the energies of the empyrean, then over the lesser entities, until finally the very gods themselves will bend the knee and recognise the supremacy of the Machine-God"

Ive always toyed with the idea of doing a Traitor Guard army to go along with my CSM army.

But pretty much ruled it out due to costs.

I see lots of Eldar (as expected) and Imp Guard (avoided due to costs).

For me, it is Heretic/chaos Marines. And, I hope to have an excuse to finally build out from the metal models that I have been carrying around for the last 20 years with this new Eldritch Omens boxset. Really looking forward to that, IFF it can ship from the UK to us in Portugal without too much trouble. Getting it here would be a challenge, I think. I usually order boardgames and so on from Wayland and so far not a problem, but I guess that this Eldritch box will be a big, and in that case I might have to try to source the set form somewhere local, which might not be possible... that said, if anyone has any suggestions about where to find and to have that box delivered to Portugal, please let me know...

There are so many... And I'm such a slow painter.

Fortunately, I typically just create 25PL forces, so the model count tends to be low. From there, they grow a unit at a time as I raise the supply limits of their Crusades. That doesn't happen fast either, as I tend to burn RP on other stuff first.

But one of the things I really wanted to do is play a battle from White Dwarf back in the Charadon flashpoints.

The scenario was that Chaos was going cell to cell killing the guards and inmates of a prison for Abhumans. The rattlings were able to sneak through vents and such to open the cells of the Ogryns.

There are no rules for the battle in the WD- it's just part of the story. So you'd need to work it out. In the story, it was a slaughter- the abhumans put up a hell of a fight, but they were wiped out. If I ever brought it to the table, it try to give them a fair-ish chance to win.

Story wise, if they survived, they'd be pardoned and accepted into the local regiment- in the ongoing story within which the battle takes place, Imperial Forces, though dug in, are heavily out numbered.

I'd still like to do an Admech force with the 30K models but GW never released 40K rules for them unfortunately. You'd probably have to take CSM or SM rules to represent them. But the Thallax and all the Automata are some of the most awesome looking Minis in all of 40K imo.

Tau Mechanized list. Minimal battlesuits, mostly tanks, transports, and mechanized infantry. I’m a big fan of hovertanks, and the Tau have some nice ones. When the army came out, I was sorely tempted to start one up. The problem? I already had a mechanized Eldar force. Which also came with jetbikes. So the play style was going to be very similar to my established army. I don’t have the time or budget for parallel projects. If I am going to start something new, it needs to be different enough to justify itself.

Chaos. Sometimes the call of blood and brass sings in my heart. The desire to rev up a chainaxe and charge into the lapdogs of the corpse-emperor to claim their skulls for the throne. One problem with playing Ultras is that we are very by-the-book. Not a lot of room for conversions and off the wall stuff. Once you pledge yourself to the dark gods all those restrictions go away. Anything is fair game. I havn’t started down the dark path because that would be heresy. The chaplain keeps giving me nasty looks whenever the topic comes up. Don't want to make him angry.

Orks. Again with the counterpoint to the strait-laced Ultras. Going green would let my inner modeler loose. Clippers and plasticard, mekshop gone wild. But frankly, I don’t think I have the skills to pull it off. And horde armies are pricy, for something I’m not sure I’d enjoy playing.

Tyranids I can cross off my wishlist. Bonus guilt-free money took the sting out of the cost, and contrast paints let me get the carpet of gribbles done that the army should have. But up until 2 years ago, these guys were my biggest pipe dream.

I'd have to say Nids of Chaos Daemons.

I had nids back in 5th and enjoyed painting up a Tyrant and Hive Guard in the Behemoth scheme, but always hated the Instinctive Behavior rules. I always told myself I pick em up again if the rules were better, but now I have about 5 armies so it comes down to time/money.

Daemons were always a touch and go option for using as an ally force my main army has been CSM since 6th. I never picked them up for the same reasons as nids. Couldn't get into the rules and time/money.

I'd love to have an Astra Militarum army, but I loathe the Cadian sculpts. I liked Steel Legion but they are metal and now discontinued.

Overall it's just a large commitment going into a horde army.

You know it's funny, I was thinking the other day of creating a thread about "projects on your horizon" - basically this. What is something you want to do but you can't quite make it.

An Eldar army is a definite, they were my first foray into 40k (nearly 20 years ago which is a horrible thing to type out). The new releases mean it is finally time.

I'd love to pick up some battlefleet gothic for my admech army. I love the aesthetic and it was something that I never bought at the time because nobody near me played it. I need to find someone with a 3D printer to get me some of them.

I'd like to expand my Valhallan DKoK kitbash beyond the Kill Team I am currently doing, but that will have to be far, far in the future I think.

And then there's the Old World releases potentially next year as well...

I ordered Dominion from Wayland two months ago and they had no problem sending it to Spain in a few weeks, and I think it probably took more than previously because it was Black Friday and they were swamped with orders. I doubt that Eldritch Omens will be heavier or bigger than Dominion.

As a backup one of the biggest online sellers of Miniatures in Spain is Goblin Trader https://www.goblintrader.es/es/envio and they ship to Portugal in the same conditions that to the rest of the peninsula. I have only good experiences with them and can vouch for them.

Air cav and horse cav guard.

Both for rules reasons.

As I've stated for years I'd happily trade all my armies for the option to field a horse cavalry guard army.

This is the hill I will die on.

I want Mogul Kamir (I think that was his name in the 5th edition guard book) to lead a massed charge against the necrons and carry the day!

Spindle Drones and Guardian Drones exist. They just need an HQ Drone, and the removal of the limitations on the # of Spindle Drone units.

I would freaking LOVE to be able to run a 500pnt all Drone list.

He didn't, but I remember in his fluff page, or the rough rider page, I forget which, in the 5th ed guard book it talked about a rare massing of rough riders on a necron world where he led a charge and carried the day, at a suitably horrific cost, of course!

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

I'm discounting the armies I own but haven't assembled yet (30k World Eaters, 30k Mechanicum, Adeptus Mechanicus, Harlequins, Primaris White Scars, Custodes, Genestealer Cults, Dark Eldar, Thousand Sons) and just things I don't have any of:

1. Sisters of Battle - I really like the models, but I think that I'd prefer to get a force of them similar to my Dark Eldar in that they're not meant for 40k, but rather as NPCs/Adversaries and the occasional player character in the 40k RPGs. I don't own any DE things bigger than a Skyboard rider, and I don't think I'd get any Sisters vehicles - suits might be the largest thing.

2. Grey Knights - I have about 15 Grey Knights, but putting a small army of them together shouldn't be that hard, bit like Custodes. I just haven't gotten around to it, plus there's the hangup of I still think the Dreadknight is overly-goofy, even if we have (mercifully) had some of the dumber Wardian excesses removed (NEMESIS DOOOOOOM FISTS!).

So maybe one day.

And Emperor's Children, but they don't really have their own model line sadly.

What, like Warhammer Fantasy Familiars as Brimstones, AoS Gryphounds as Chaos Hounds, Bitz Spawn (tm) as . . .Spawn and 40k Genestealer as Seekers? Too late, already done it :-) I’d say have a go - not a ‘point and win’ army, but fun to make.

A couple of elaborate joke armies. Squats/space-dwarves using Wargames Atlantic Einherjar and 3d printed vehicles to make them the space IDF (taking Tolkein's Jewish-dwarves analogy and running away with it), various GSC/chaos cult elaborate conversion using Necromunda gangers, both of those are largely held up by the sheer quantity of models I'd need and the fact that I have no confidence they'd be any fun to play.

Was just on wah and found out about the small amount of Astra Cartographic units, including the Rogue Trader HQ and troop unit.

It's silly, but I have the urge to make a small force for 25PL or under games. I'm super intrigued by the lore, and have never considered an Imperial force before.

Also, since Legends are fine, I'm considering a Renegades & Heretics force of Malfeic Lords and Chaos Spawn, with a few minimal Mutant Rabble.

Eldar is becoming a reality, but I'm still waiting for plastics for Bugs and Guard. Ideally (I know it's a pipe dream) I'd get plastic Praetorians or Plastic Vostroyans. But I do like the Catachans too, so that might be more of an option down the road.

To me, these are the three most interesting factions in the game and I've really loved them!

Catachan. They're like the Orks of the Guard and I figured if I was ever going to do a Guard army I'd at least pick the ones who seem like they're having fun.

That said some of those sculpts have not aged well and it kept me away from the army for a while. I finally pulled the trigger on them this year and am slowly working through building a lot of burly dudes who don't know body armour is now.

Rogue Trader and his retinue. I worked out the ship's complement a while back (based on old wet navy) and have been slowly accumulating pieces but haven't built much yet.

Currently, trader/officers/bridge crew (various characters), marines, and ratings (orlocks) are sorted. Need armsmen (likely palanite conversions) and some lower positions. Maybe a single custodian warden (keeping the RT alive for the needs of the future).

I don't really have plans to stat this or play it, just a personal project that is currently at the bottom of the very limited hobby time.

Iyanden ghost force - I've had the entire army since the days of metal (2nd/3rd) but I never liked working in metal. Now that they've made it all plastic I might trade up and actually work on it.
