That timeline looks a bit optimistic. We’re still seeing cargo ships waiting for miles down the coast.

I was wondering about that myself. Last I read in the LA Times it was a 45 day wait for unloading, up from 14 days pre-Covid. Had not read anything about the the logjam improving. Perhaps the shipper is giving Mr. Dunham an extremely rosy estimate.

Well. I am kind of confused on the whole thing anyway as there was a post last month that he was just waiting on boxes... and then he had a boxes received message... and now... the minis havent arrived yet. So I am not sure what the "just waiting on boxes" was about.

i presume the boxes were made in China at a different factory, so now the spues have been packed in the boxes and are on their way (assuming the boat sailed on time)

Well, that makes sense... I was under the impression that they had received the minis here in the US, and boxes were coming here to the US to be packed here...

After getting a hold of the factory, we were able to get things straightened out from the outsourcer.

Printed boxes were 10-15 days, thousands minimum to print between sets.

Packed labor had its week in cue, had to set up cargo for freight forwarder, freight forwarder had to calculate and quote air and boat, boats needed documentation, duty verification, time to line up for boat, then boat decision.

18-23 for a boat trip basically saved time shipping from China, shipping in country as well made the most sense for most of the backers. We were looking at 2 months for a uk ride.

Lots of little things added up

Just a little question, but how is it looking for EU shipping?

Its the data given to me. Im curious what its like right now, as I only have a quick article here as an example from April. Appears it had gone down drastically over time, then kind of met a middle.

My pledge arrived. 1 box of Amazons for a total of 44 figures. There are five foot sprues and 1 horse sprue. Looking closely, 1 foot sprue is Scythian and all male (the beards helped). The other four are the Amazons. The horse sprue has no human heads, but six horse heads for four horse bodies, so you'd use the torsoes and heads from the other sprues to make either Amazon or Scythian cavalry. There are two decorative elements I don't recognize. They look like an elaborate horn, so I thought it might be a musician option, but I'm not sure. Maybe fancy tack for a noble?

Anyway, despite my box being printed as Amazons, the contents list is incorrect, as it lists it as: "32 Scythians, 8 Amazons, and 4 Horsemen." The number of Amazons and Scythians should be reversed (confirmed by inspecting the contents.)

Thank you, Mr. Dunham. All in is in order. I hope they do well for you.

A short article on the Scythians.

I'm really looking forward to receiving this, but I guess us Europeans will have to wait for a bit.

Months ago we were swapping out photoshop assets making the four, a goof on the back. Should be four female sprues in Amazons, some scythians and horses for kicks

As usual, my apologies for the poor image quality. I can't get the phone camera to focus on the minis; it insists on focusing on the wall.

Assembled Amazons and Scythian. Also built an amazon archer, but the swing arm of the lamp failed and smashed into her as I was setting the minis up for the photo shoot. Her bow arm has vanished, so I'll have to get another one from the box.

Comparison shot: From left to right: RGD Amazon, Northstar Cultist, RGD Scythian, Warlord Macedonian, RGD Amazon, and Victrix Classical Greek archer.
Yes, the pike snapped. This is why piano wire spears and pikes are superior. Someone has also mentioned plastic broom bristles, as they bend. Still painting bendy plastic usually means the paint flakes when the piece bends.

Edit of 2 Oct 2022: So fixed the damaged archer, and built two more figures.

The two Amazons on the left are built with the same legs, which has the abdominal area bent forward. As the torsos and heads are straight, this makes for some odd poses, such as the leftmost Amazon who is attacking something on the ground. While the second Amazon head is still looking downward, her pose is of a runner, and so having one's head down is natural.

Comparison with a Mantic Northern Alliance Berzerker and GW Mordheim plastic human mercenary. Both Mantic and GW figures have thick bases, so without those bases they'd be shorter than the RGD miniatures.

@Ancestral Hamster. Thanks for the pictures. How do you think the Amazon torsos would look on the Scythian legs?

Tracking says mine will be here tomorrow, but I probably won't get a chance to play around with them until next weekend.

You're welcome.

The Scythian is very beefy, so Scythian legs are wider-hipped than the Amazon torsos, and the difference will be obvious. Earlier in the thread, RGD Gaming posted a comparison shot: https://www.dakkadakka.com/dakkaforum/posts/list/803861.page#11319959

Similarly, there are four rider legs on the horse sprue. Two of them are Amazon and two Scythian.

There’s a .5 mm difference on the width of the amazons. Lesser known feature is that the amazons were closer to that to work on the centaurs.

Also of cool note:

Downloadable Scythian legs for the horses are available free online

My box arrived today. Came into the world in the usual way. But there were planes to catch and bills to pay. So I will assemble on another day…

Wow. 600+ minis. Can’t wait to wade in.

I ... am not sure. I originally backed the kickstarter because I like the company and wanted to support. Then I kind of got caught up in the plastic fever. I think I will give a box of Scythians to each of my gaming group... and maybe ... have no idea what I will do with the rest.

So, I played around with the sprues after work. I assemble 1 each standard for the Scythians, Amazons and Satyrs. As well as one standard Scythian cavalry. I then made 1 Scythian using fireforge weapons and shield, An Amazon with frostgrave arms and a Wargames Factory head... and a Wargames Factory amazon using RGD Amazon arms and a Stargrave head. The minis in the pics comparing are Warlord Landsknecht and a frostgrave wizard (with Cannon fodder 2 head) and a Wargames factory amazon Body.

Overall, I think the bodies are all good. A little tall, but not overly so. I am not a huge fan of the amazon heads, and the weapons are on the thin side. The Scythian heads are actually pretty nice. I really like the fit of the fireforge northmen arms on them. The Satyrs... I dont love how the arms attach to the body. But overall, I am quite pleased.

Well, as long as you are enjoying yourself. I may make a Stargrave amazon as well, if the parts don't look too out of place. Mind, if you play Kings of War, you can easily build a 2000pts Kingdoms of Men army with what you've bought.

“Penthesilea in fury leads the crescent-shielded ranks of Amazones and blazes amid her thousands; a golden belt she binds below her naked breast, and, as a warrior queen, dares battle, a maid clashing with men.”

I think they would make great Trollocs from Wheel of Time as well.

Last pic. Amazon body, with statuesque head and northmen arms/weapon/shield.

I think the bodies are great.
