This thread is absolutely incredible. I cannot even imagine being able to paint like this, as it takes me a week to do a single model unless I'm in the mood. As a former nid player, it feels good to see such an impressive horde on the board. Huge props to you! Especially with being able to identify on how to work around your own limitations.

A couple of random questions for you:
1) Are the nid armies yours or a large commission?
2) What's your general point total between all the nids painted?
3) If they are yours, do you have future plans for the army? The only thing I can imagine on a similar scale would be a horde of burrowing nids like trygons, mawlocks, and whatever the warrior-sized burrowers are called.
4) Any plans to do an apoc game with everything in the future?

Please keep posting! I am definitely subscribing to this thread to watch the progress.

Turns out I didn't need 6 days. I primed them on day one, was too busy to mess with them until last night ( evening of day 5 ) and finished them this morning before my game.

It took me 10 hours to assemble and finish them. Technically they aren't done, though... I want to magnetize their arms, but I didn't have the time, so I used light glue so that after today's game, I could rip the arms off with ease and magnetize them. Add another hour or two for magnets if you like.... and I didn't base them either... So you may or may not consider them done, and I wouldn't argue either way. I'll base them tomorrow.

This was a 3k game of Space Wolves and Iron Warriors versus Behemoth Tyranids

My list was 15 carnifexes with Old One Eye as the Warlord with 3 Tervigons, 90 termagaunts and 30 hormagaunts. Their list was 3k of meat. Delicious bio mass.

Turn 1 after deployment - Opponents put a few units in Deep Strike, including a Leviathan, terminators and Obliterators

Turn 2 - Both forces move closer towards the middle Tyranids flank as many objectives as possible with Screamer Killers and Gaunts. Hormagaunts take the center, acting as bait.

Space Wolves and Iron Warriors creep closer and unload their transport goodies out for me to devour.

Turn 3 - Behemoth Nids charge foward with 10+ Carnifexes and completely obliterate anything in their way. A Stone Crusher Carnifex with Old One Eye's +1 to hit, and strategem buff turn the center of the board into a scrap filled wasteland.

Turn 4 - Old One Eye charges a 10 man marine unit, and with 12 attacks (various strat buffs and such), yeets their gene material into outer space in a shower of gore.

The battle ended with a Tyranid Behemoth victory, 97 - 21

Fresh-Faced New User

The 94th Grand Battalion sent a retinue of warriors under the leadership of the Master of Arms, Da'Loth, a commander under the Warsmith Ashurban, to a newly founded Imperial settler world dubbed "Richrain" to capture fodder. In the midst of their marauding, the small planetary defense force had been crushed, a mass of ships had been seized by the Iron Warriors, each small warp-capable vessel planned to be fitted with a possessed marine who would be its navigator sending thousands of humans from their homeworld Medrengard out of the eye to further their reach across the stars. A duo of possessed marines to navigate for each ship would have amounted to an armada of troubling proportions. Unfortunately, it hadn't been accounted for that after five generations of Imperial colonization the genestealer half-breeds would have already infested every crevice of this society. The ships, a valuable resource which seemed to sit their for no good reason, were in fact part of a plan for the genestealer cult diaspora to spread to other worlds.

Patiently they waited, watching the planetary defense force get crushed and paying no heed to the Chaos marines pounding against their city walls with a small artillery force that was more than enough to bring down resistance in a mere few days. Quietly they prayed for their alien god's liberation, tired of a galaxy filled with Post-Humans and knowing through the visions of the patriarch that their salvation was on its way to the system.

As the Iron Warriors were preparing to leave the system a company of Space Wolves came to defend the system. The stalemate would become an unlikely alliance, as the hive fleet began to regurgitate swarms of the brood from out of their nightmare bio-ships. It became clear by the logistics of the Iron Warriors that without a doubt, the shadow in the warp had embraced the system with its dooming clutch. The Certainty of death was almost absolute. An Iron Warriors ship hung low in orbit, the sorcerers on board desperately trying to open a breach in the hardening envelope of the hive mind's projected influence over the world.

Forced with their backs against the wall to stave off a seemingly inevitable annihilation, the Space Wolves and the Iron Shrikes made their final stand. This is how they died.

My 15 Carnifex list played against a Deathwing list earlier today.

I won't go into detail here, but here are some pictures

Turn 1

He held a ten man squad of Terminators in Reserve.

Turn 2

I cleaned up the giant mess of Terminators in the center of the board

His Terminators came in from Deep Strike and started to smash Carnifexes

Turn 5

By the end of the game, all that was left on the board were three Carnifexes and two Terminator models...

But... Deathwing pulled out a victory! 84 - 66!!!

It was one of my favorite 9th edition games so far. Amazing!!!!!!!!!!

I played as Behemoth, and I didn't choose to make my Carnifexes Obsec. I thought I needed the Charge rerolls. Also, Deathwing's army wide Transhuman saved his bacon

Finished a commission for Warcry Heart of Ghur terrain.

Took me about 2 hours to assemble, and 7 hours to paint. Customer was very happy

If you want to contact me for a commission, pm me here, or email me at swarmlordhobby@gmail.com. My work is high quality AND faster than most painting commissions out there, so you won't be waiting months to get your models back. You'll wait a few days!

This army was given to me already assembled, which help cut down on time spent on the project.

From prime to basing, this commission took me just under 12 hours. I now use a time tracking website, so if you want a commission from me, you can keep track of exactly when I am working on your project as I work on it.

The speed of painting is ridiculous! Am I correct in thinking you’re doing slapchop on them, or is it contrast over a solid base? Either way they look great

I use a multitude of techniques which allow me to get high quality models quickly, with dry brushing being at the top.

I can't concentrate on painting models for long, so I had to develop a method to get models done quickly before I lose interest in them. I can't paint a tank for 30 hours, for example. I need to get it done within an hour.

Being objective about you nature allows you to gain and keep values you seek.

It’s certainly effective in both speed and quality of finish!

After months of collecting bits, I'm ready to begin the final assembly and painting of my 57 Warrior list.

I won't start painting this for a week or so. Keep an eye here for when I start the speed paint session on these guys

My Tyranid Flying Circus versus Black Templar.

Was a fun game. The new Reaper of Obliterax is much more balanced now with it's 3 Mortal Wound cap.

A snap shot of my match with Tyranids Oops All Psykers versus Genestealer Cults.

Half his army was in reserves when this picture was taken, hence his empty table side.

The genestealers on the right side of the table were his.... Not mine.... Those traitors!
