Well, didn't get as much done as I had hoped, but did get Crisis Troop Scorch assembled.

Also gave the rulebook a quick read.

One question, I'm pretty familiar with a lot of military gear. I have the same Eotech set up on a rifle that the Recce guys have, have seen plenty of LPVO sights like the Assault guys have. But what the heck is the little cluster of tubes hanging at all their waists by a carabiner. Looks like blasting caps but no way anyone would keep those there like that. Maybe mini flares for marking?

If I had to make a guess, probably infrared "glow sticks". When I was in the military as an infantryman we used them a lot in night time assaults on compounds for a variety of uses.

Can be used to mark advancing friendlies so your firebase can adjust where they are suppressing so the assault team can push through the compound without being shot, or to mark buildings they want hit.

Can be used to mark locations for air support to hit.

Great for marking drop zones if the guys on the ground are working as pathfinders for an incoming airborne drop.

When facing an enemy unlikely to have night vision gear for every soldier, something as simple as an IR glow stick becomes a potent weapon when the opposing force can't see it.

I used them as a cav scout, never carried them like that, but I guess it makes sense.

Agreed, kind of a silly way to carry them for sure though. Junk dangling from your waist is just asking to get caught on stuff.

Looks amazing, but the postage and customs charges to the UK will be a horror :(

At least the rulebook is on Amazon.

I started a page on Board Game Geek (BGG) for the game: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/363019/black-powder-red-earth-28mm

Got a lot going on this weekend, but maybe next week or next weekend I can get the rest of the figures assembled, then get them all primed.

Assembled a few more figures:

Muhtasib (mid-grade troopers for Aayari Network side).

And Hongbin Enabler and Mercs (Chinese or at least Chinese paid mercy, the enabler is a leader type fig). These are the high quality troops for the Aayari Network.

Started painting the other side today. Did the Enabler and the Mercenaries. Pretty happy with how they came out.

The Enabler (leader type, can call in drone strikes).

Merc:

Really cool figures.
