But could that not lead to some level of redemption?

The guy is a total spoiled brat, because seriously, what can anyone do about it and the things he does?

Strip that away, and after a bit of humiliation you could see him becoming redeemed, when he has to see what life is really like.

Does he deserve that shot?

IF im to guess the ending and the next season.
Hamelander and Soldier boy will be fighting at the capitol while Homalnders fanboys are storming the congress building, maybe to get at Neuman.
SOlider boy depowers Homelander slightly enough to wound him, not enough that he is regular, Homelander flies off getting scared because this is the first time he got wounded.
Stan, Using this to his advantage, Retake vaught and starts to phase out Supes, citing the massive public damage they do.
So next season the boys hunt for Homelander, while dealing with Jobless supes, and maybe something like a Supe Union.

What about the signs that Temporary V isn't temporary. Hughie was able to open a jar without Starlight's help in the most recent episode ...

Why do people think Soldier Boy has some sort of de-powering ability/effect?

Kimiko’s prodigious healing ability wasn’t working after getting blasted and her superior strength were gone when she started to recover in the hospital.

The blast might depower the supe, like it did Kimiko, leaving them vulnerable to another blast of his chestray that kills them, like it did to the Chimps Don’t Cry lady. Thats the theory at least.

And you think that's a side effect of Soldier Boys blast? Hmm, maaaybe. But I don't think that's how it's going to play out.

Me? I think Hughie's responsible.
Here's why:
We know that sometime before entering the lab where they find SB Hughie takes Temp. V. When isn't clear. This stuff is untested & there's no way to know what powers it grants. Though it seems to consistently give Butcher A) lazer eyes & B) invulnerability. And Hughie gets A) teleportation & B) ???
The shooting starts.
Kimiko snaps the neck of one of the Russians. We viewers assume with her superior strength. But maybe with just skill. Afterall, neck snapping is a thing that trained action characters often do....
Hughie teleports & puts his fist through the last guy. And his arm seems? healed. So.... Hughie gets super strength AND regeneration as his part B?

Then SB explodes, blowing Kimiko through a wall & nearly killing her.

In the van ride Hughie is enjoying his slightly glowing arm. Seems they're definitely showing you regeneration at work.
Meanwhile, in the back, the girl that's known to regenerate is in bad shape & clearly not healing. Yet the guy in the front seat, with his arm out the window is....

And then later as Kimiko recovers in the hospital she learns she's also no longer super strong.

Yeah. I think Hughie's B) effect from Temp. V is some sort of power theft.

That was… an episode alright. Making up for the lower amounts of nudity and gore in the last couple with a truly excessive amount. All the fights. The deaths. The confessions. Just, dang man.

The promo's for this episode hyped up Herogasm, but there was a lot to like about this episode.

Spoiler:
Headpopper + Starlight teaming up would've been intesting, but SL has grown (understandably) untrusting. If Vic had explained her situation with Homelander a bit better, perhaps Starlight would've been more receptive. Vic's a killer, but I think Vaught had her in a situation similar to what Homelander has her in now, and was using her.

Still can't put my head around if Soldier Boy is a c-word on the level of Homelander, or just misunderstood. The part where he mentions blacking out might've just been a throwaway line, though there could be more to it.

Poor MM. Gets strangled by Love Sausage last season, then gets "slimed" multiple times this episode. I think he's due for some justice.

Hughie socking A-train after what seemed like a genuine (finally) apology about his girlfriends death was nice. Would've liked to see them battle it out.

Speaking of A-train. I loved the part where the redheaded chick finally snapped and put him in his place. And did A-train die?

Not sure what the feth is going on with Black Noir.

Starlight might have given Homelander a greenlight to kill Maeve now, and he can blame it on Soldier Boy now that Starlight has quit.

Homelander got a serving of humble pie, but he needs more. Going to be interesting to see how he reacts to it. Probably perfectly balanced and reasonable, I'm sure

Versteckt in den Schatten deines Geistes.

Herogasm was not what was advertised. I was expecting something extreme. Quick cuts and out-of-focus nudity in the background ain't quite the same thing.

As for the episode itself, it was quite good.

The various character groups converging on Herogasm for different reasons, the big four-way ( ) at the end. The stuff with A-Train was awesome (and kinda cliffhanger-y... maybe?).

Soldier Boy is a very interesting character.

Frenchie and Kimiko's plot seems to be going in circles though. And Hughie and Starlight's 18th breakup isn't interesting. That plot line can go die in a fire.

Yes I am aware of the horrific historical, and not that historical action behind it.

Agreed. Especially about the Hughie and Starlight stuff.

The interesting thing so far this season has been the epic decline of Vaught in general and Homelander's spearheading of that.

Spoiler:

Not quite sure what the deal is with Soldier Boy. Seems to be some PTSD/mind control thing going on maybe? He definitely seemed to have trouble going all supernova once they had Homelander on the ground so maybe he's not 100% in control of that power?

When he gets stressed out badly he just goes off without a trigger.

Its understandably hard to pull the trigger on purpose. Its pretty hard to put yourself into stress so hard you have a meltdown.

Pretty obvious the Russian techno/pop music sets off SB.

Yep, Soldier Boy explodes every time he hears Russian. I don't think he really has any control over it at all. When they wake him up and he fires his beam at Kimiko they comment that he never had that power before. All the Russian experiments obviously changed his powers and gave him pretty severe PTSD.

Soldier boy did just nuke a house, wasting the TNT Twins, so the fact he had trouble spinning up that power again so soon may just be because he can't do it in rapid succession.

Well, that ending certainly changes things up. I only read the wikipedia versions of the comics, but this seems like the most pronounced change to the comics so far.

Those Black Noir scenes were something.

Spoiler:
Thinking SB and Homelader bury the hatchet and create a seemingly unstoppable duo but Black Noir kills SB after building up his cartoon courage

Maybe it was the Covid-issue with production, but super sad some of my most anticipated series only had 6 or so episodes...

Why seasons so short??!!

Personal preference and all, but I'd prefer 6-8 episode seasons over 10-12. I feel like once you get into the double digit range for a season, its about 2-3 of those episodes are bs filler that ruin a stories pace. Results may vary by showrunner/writer/director though.

Where something is going straight to Streaming, Disney+ has shown you don’t need to fit to a schedule, which is nice. No need to do every season X episodes of Y minutes for syndication. Instead, let your show creators have exactly as much time as they need to tell their tale.

The downside of course is we may lose Filler Episodes Better Than The Main Ones. One offs which strike an unexpected chord with the viewing public. That is not a good thing - but still preferable to say, 10 episodes worth of Decent Stuff interspersed with 12 episodes of utter guff.

Not sure I cared for that final episode, though it had some cool parts. Quite a dramatic shift from the source material.

Spoiler:
weirdly hope that ain’t the last of Black Noir. Seemed very anti-climactic for a character that was so key to events in the comics

I don’t think Maeve should’ve got a happy ending. Having her die a hero would’ve meant more. Her fight with Homelander was pretty dope. Almost thought she was going to get Pedro Pascal’d GoT style.

Hopefully A-train will actually do something redeemable next season and just die. Or let go and go full asshat villian and get punked by Hughie.

I think the real deal full dose compound V will end up curing Butcher, or at least giving him more time. Not sure how they go at Homelander now that Soldier Boy is back on ice.

Looks like next season is going to the White House and hopefully a series conclusion. In a world of outlandish Superheroes, the constantly breakup/get back together relationship amongst every member of The Boyz team seems the most unrealistic.

I’ll also say that they mishandled the season villian again. Soldier Boy just seemed kind of scattershot and not fully formed.

Edit: On second watch, it hit me you can skip this entire season. It ends almost right where the previous season left off.

I think the line that made me laugh the most this season was Soldier Boy reminiscing about Bill Cosby. The supe that drinks by the gallon and snoots coke by the pound in order to get a buzz past his healing factor, mentions that even he thought Cosby's drinks were mixed a little strong.
