Glad to see competition tho - theoretically that will lead us to seeing quick evolution along the lines of contrast paint and other cool things as folks try to make the best gunk. If I had more faith in capitalism that is.
We have at least 4 kinds of Contrast paints released nearly at the same time (Citadel, army painter, Green stuff World and vallejo), I wouldn't be surprised to see TT combat adding that as well if their first run of normal colors is successful.
Army Painter said they'll update their Contrast range to have 90colors, Citadel added some as well recently. So in that specific case competition seems to work out for the customers.

I wouldn't really count Games Workshop as they were adding to an existing paint line, whereas for the others it is an entirely new product.

Eh? GW release contrast paint, but you say it's just adding to an existing line of paints. Isn't that the exactly the same for AP, GSW and Vallejo who also have existing lines of paints?

AP's Speed Paints were a new product line. There were no Speed Paint products prior to March 2022 available to the public.
GSW's Dipping Inks were a new product line. There were no Dipping Inks prior to July 2022 available to the public.
Vallejo's Xpress Colors are a new product line. There are currently no Xoress Colors available to the public.
Citadel's newest Contrast Paints are not a new product line, the Contrast Paints released in July 2022 were and addition to the Contrast Paints line that had been available to the public since June 2019.
Notice the difference?...

Contrast were first released in may 2019, so you can’t really include GW in the 4 kinds released at the same time unless only count the recent addition to the contrast range.
