How many primarchs were emperors like Dorn before they met the big guy? Dorn could assume the reigns. Guilliman's disenchantment.

Most of them managed to unite their adopted/deposited homeworld - if not other worlds as well - in some way, shape or form.

Off the top of my head, Angron and Mortarion were the only two that failed in that regard?

Both were on the cusp of either success against the odds or death by trying, and the Emperor kind of stole that from them in both cases. Angron was taken away on the eve of the decisive battle against the High Riders because Big E did not want to wait/ risk Angron's near-certain death, and Morty was on the way to confront one of the Overlords and probably dying in the process when Big E intervened - considering the way typical Primarch stories go, that would have been situations where it looked dire for them, but then the Anime theme music would have kicked in and they'd have slain ten-thousand men or strangled the alien necromancer sorcerers with their bare hands due to the power of plot armour

IIRC Corax was not completely done with his slave revolt when the Emperor resolved the situation, and Curze of course pacified his world, but without actually governing it.

He used to be dead but this was changed and only his hand was found. He's MIA and until GW decide to bring him back, he will be MIA.

I.wouldnt mind a lot of the earlier index astartes stuff bring retconned to be fair.

Him 'dying' to a meltagun on a ship.is awfully anti climactic. Same with the iron cage - he comes across like an incinpetent vainglorious idiot - it feels like it was written by someone who hated the colour yellow and was probably an iron warriors fan. :p

That said, maybe he just needs a hand. Or two...

In all fairness, him being dead (and encased in Amber) was in 1 book from 1993, and unless I'm mistaken, was never mentioned again in any other source before or since. Quite a bit of the lore that that time frame has been changed, retconned, or flat out ignored since.

Yes, at the moment.

Konrad saw him die, all of Konrads visions came true... he did not see WHEN he died though so yes he is dead but an easy way to bring him back would be to say "not yet"

There is also the fact that the Big E can revive primarchs as stated in the Primarchs Night Haunter novel and of course the End and the Death... not easy though but that was before the Emperor became a near god with the power he has now.

Yup he first died, but later it was changed that only his hand got cut off (it was retrieved by the IF) and went MIA on the Despoiler Class Battleship. Since 1993 it was never mentioned again that he was dead and encased in Amber. He is believed to be "dead". There's no evidence that he died and it is only based on belief. Dorn is too precious for GW to have him canonically dead like he was before.

On that note? Pretty sure the original Codex Ultramarines had most of the original Legions extinct.

Was that in the context of Ultramarines being a late founding 'trial' legion (where defending Macragge from Hive Fleet Behemoth gave them both the planet and recognition with 'full Adeptus Astartes status'), or had they changed that background (from Warhammer Siege) by that point?

He doesn't need to.

Just to point out - Dorn is gaelic for fist....

In proto-celtic, the word dorn means a hand. The welsh equivalent, dwrn, means a fist, and the irish dornáil means to box.

I've always seen Rogal as a corruption of "Regal" So Rogal Dorn is really "Regal" (or Imperial) Fist. I think its funny how much Ferrus Manus of the Iron Hands naming gets mocked so much, but Rogal Dorn of the Imperial Fists doesn't.

If you read the War of the Beast series Vulkan tells Koorland that he will tell his father, Dorn, of what he has become when he sees him.

Could this be metaphor for when they all die? Possibly. But the door definitely is open that Dorn is still alive and Vulkan knows where he is.

The black rage is within us all. Lies offer no shield against it. You speak of donning the black of duty for the red of brotherhood; but it is the black of rage you shall wear when the end comes.

If he is missing a hand he will need a fist. And when he comes back he will return with an "Iron Fist" and I mean that figuratively and litterally.

My guess is he's being held captive by Perty. He'll escape and attach a chainsaw to his stub like Ash in Evil Dead. He'll change as a person, essentially his old attitude will die and he'll arise a new man, to sell models.

My guess is we'll get a Perturabo chaos model followed by Dorn.

Dorn's supposed death happened off-screen, so there is no way to be sure he is actually dead.

In all likelihood he is dead until GW decides that he isn't because they need a new Primarch model to sell.

It's amazing how often he isn't the butt of a joke for being THE Imperial Fist and only leaving a fist. I think that some heavy foreshadowing.

I suppose so, but considering it’s a British company and Dorn means fist in both Irish and Scottish Gaelic; and the Gaelic references in Eldar names tend to be pretty well understood in the community, I’m still surprised by it. But yeah, Latin references are understandably more widely recognised.

He died offscreen with no body. In comic books, this means he is dead until they decide to bring him back.

I sincerely believe any/ all Primarchs could still be alive- Except Horus, who the Emperor reality deleted.

Ferrus= Cyborg, infused with Necron nanites. They still have his skull, which is where I think his soul rests. They could probably have a Forgefather or whatnot sacrifice himself so that Ferrus could come back, like a Phoenix lord.

Sanguinius= Literal Angel, most likely the first Daemon of Order. He could probably come back in the form of a semi-corporeal shape- but that'd cause the BA's to stop mopeing around in their goth space vampire coffins.

One of the Twins died, but it's so mysterious and brooding to not say if it was Alpha or Omega.

Word's out on #'s 2 and 11, but that's always been the case.

As for Dorn, they have his hand enshrined, but show me the body!
