It’s hard to keep track of since they don’t seem to have one of those big images with all the Pharoah level minis and stretch goals all together.

Even if I am feeling slightly critical, I will say Flying Frog KS are always an excellent value gameplay-wise. If I owned zero Brimstone any one of their KS, all-in for sub-$300 gets you a crazy amount of dungeon-crawling fun. It really just gets unwieldy once you already own a LOT.
Like, they always tout cross-compatibility, but if you were to mix all of their games you would have an unplayable game with literally 60+ individual card decks on the table. :-p
I'm also just being a brat because when we mixed Forbidden Fortress with the original, my poor Samurai ended up with unusable loot for like ten quests because his abilities required keyword "swords" and the mega loot deck now had barely any. :-p
Still love the system so much, but it is like my personal definition of too much of a good thing.
I'd kill for LESS content, but a higher tier for existing enemies, and higher level cap. This game needs book supplements waaaaay more than it needs more settings, etc.

The campaign is really moving along. They’ve knocked down a lot of small stretch goals, and a few big ones. I wish more of the Egyptian goals were included in the $120 pledge.

Yup, it's a huge success and they're definitely making sure people have good reason to stay with the Pharaoh tier and ignore the other levels. It is pretty neat that a company like Flying Frog has a campaign come out at the same time as a comparatively huge company like CMON and way outperform them.
I think it may make sense to just wait until when these sets actually come out and buy the ones I want then. Assuming I can find any space for them in my house with only three or four years to figure out how. The train set and a couple boxes of new enemies would constitute a large amount of new content all on their own, as I don't need all the alt-gender heroes, XXL miniatures, and such.

I'm backing both because Egyptian pulp adventures + train is pretty much everything I've wanted out of SoB (and I really only started to buy into it last Christmas). So I'm quite happy to see this doing well. With Mordred you've got my favorite boardgame genera, area control, with Aurthian and British mythology designed by Adrian Smith? Yes please. Going to be pretty much all my hobby moneis for quite some time so add-ons for both will have to wait until the end of the PM. Flying Frog actually has barely more paying backers atm as well as Mordred has about 1/3 of it's backers in the $1 pledge for later. Though there's a much higher buy-in so it's expected to be pulling in more even if most weren't at the more expensive Pharoh level.

I don’t know how intentional it was, but someone on Facebook pointed out the themes of ancient Egyptian gods and high tech vampires on a sunken city match Stargate SG1 and Stargate Atlantis. Crossovers are always fun.
Looks like some of the vampires are a stretch goal, but most of them are only available as an add on.

Never watched Stargate Atlantis. Might be something to look into for background media while I'm painting.
As I said, it's kind of a shame how small they are in relation to the kickstarter but maybe they'll get a further release later on.

Generally the game gets a lot of mileage from a few minis. For example, the ninjas can come from different clans (with different abilities), have specific missions (which change the object and resolution of their attacks somewhat), different leaders, and sometimes a famous leader boss who gives more options. All that and they slot into the Dragon Army themed adventures which gives them even more variety.
So, I would expect the vampires to come with different flavors/factions, and the big box with the queen will probably have several different names queens, specific missions, the same factions for the automata, and rules that synergize with specific otherworlds.
As for Stargate Atlantis, it’s mostly fun. It’s not as good as SG1, and it takes them a year or two to find their creative stride, but it’s worth watching if you like the setting and story style of SG1.
The cast doesn’t have quite the same chemistry, presumably because the guy who played McKay in as difficult to work with. Jason Momoa apparently hated his guts, so they had few scenes together.

Yeah, Atlantis wasn't necessarily Must See TeeVee, but I enjoyed it as a whole.
Though in retrospect, I'm pretty sure I never actually finished the series.
Looks like I may have to hit the backlog and chew through the last couple of seasons to be sure. Add that onto the pile with the remainder of Agents of SHIELD, but 2 weeks out from flying to Gencon with the condo to myself, I'll have spare time whenever I'm not hunting demons in Sanctuary.

The latest update describes the new booby trap type of encounter. The example is a room filling with sand, with heroes needing to scavenge to find the pressure plate, then use strength to switch the trap off.

There are like 5-8 different crossovers, depending on what your initial core team starts out with. Rules are out for interacting with other crews, and these new settings pretty much ensure that you will be mixing it up with the other different alien crews before the end of the KS campaign. Mummies would be bad enough, just think of who else pops out of that doorway....

Hello Brimstone Explorers,
The Lost Tombs of Khamuntet has a lot of new game mechanics and elements that really reinforce the Pulp Adventure feel of the game. We already took an in depth look at Traps in a previous Update, so lets take a look at few more of these new mechanics.
Lost Relics
Familiar to players of Fortune and Glory, are the 2-part Artifact Adventures that Heroes go on, traveling the globe to recover these ancient relics. When we started working on the Lost Tombs of Khamuntet, having unique and powerful artifacts that the Heroes could hunt for like this was something we knew we had to include! And thus, Lost Relics were created.
Some Missions in the game send the Heroes on the hunt for a Lost Relic, either venturing into an unknown Tomb or racing against villains to get to a legendary Relic before they do! The Relic Raider style Enemy mini-bosses we've been unlocking in the Stretch Goals work great for these head-to-head races to recover a Lost Relic! When one of these Missions is started, the players generate a Lost Relic by combining two different cards, a Lost Relic Item and a Lost Relic Legend.
All of the Lost Relic Items feature an artifact of some sort (The Mask, The Sword, or The Armor for instance), and all of the Lost Relic Legends tell the story of that ancient and powerful artifact (of Horus, of Pharrox, or of Lost Souls for example). These two cards are then nested together to form a Lost Relic like The Sword ...of Vengeance or The Amulet ...of Pharrox.
Each half of the Lost Relic, the Item and the Legend, has information on the card that generates what the Relic does if you can recover it and use it (one ability on the Item and one ability on the Legend), the special global Relic Mission Effect it has during the Mission to find it, how much it is worth in Gold/Glory, and a bit of story about the legend of the piece.
When the Heroes recover a Lost Relic during their campaign, you can choose if you want to return it to a museum in Cairo for a big payout in Gold or Glory (more on Glory in a bit), or if you want to press your luck and hang on to the Relic for a little while longer, getting to use its powerful abilities on further Adventures. These Relics can be a lot of fun to use in your fight against the Darkness, but after each Mission with it, there is an increasing chance it will be lost once more. It's only a matter of time before the desert reclaims what you have taken. This gives it a nice push-your-luck feel during a campaign of continuing to risk using a Relic, and when to bring it back to the museum to get the reward before it is lost out from under you.
This new system allows you to generate new and unique legendary Lost Relics to hunt for, and the combination of the abilities on the 2 cards can create a lot of cool variety in what they do and how much they are worth if returned safely to a museum in Cairo.
Glory and the Adventurer's Guild
Another new element in the Lost Tombs of Khamuntet is a resource called Glory that Heroes with the Keyword Pulp can earn. Glory is earned during an Adventure when a Hero achieves an incredible feat of daring and guile. One of the main ways of doing this is whenever a Hero rolls more than one 6 on their dice while making a Skill test, Defense/Willpower roll, or To Hit on an Attack, that Hero earns 1 Glory.
Glory does not have any inherent benefit on its own, but is used to power certain Items and Abilities, and can also be spent at the Adventurer's Guild in Town.
The Adventurer's Guild is a new Location in Cairo that the Heroes can visit. While there you can buy new gear and allies, learn tales of exotic places and ancient lore, and spend your hard-earned Glory to unlock powerful new Items, Abilities, and gain Prestige amongst the Guild.
And for Heroes from other sets that are not Keyword Pulp, never fear. Any Hero can visit the Adventurer's Guild to gain the Keyword Pulp and begin a new life of high adventure, earning and using Glory for your daring exploits!
A New 'City' Town Experience - Cairo
Another new aspect of this Core Set is that it is the first to introduce visiting a big City rather than just a small Frontier Town or Feudal Village between Adventures, in the form of Cairo! This means that the selection of Locations is different, the types of things you can do there is expanded, and the City Events can lead to being in a Market Fight with local goons, getting in a back-alley car chase, or a running gun fight across the building rooftops. You could even find yourself in a stand-off with mobsters in a shady night club. It also allows you to visit a larger Museum in town, get lost in the twisting streets of a Market Square, and of course, drop by the Adventurer's Guild to tell tales of your expeditions.
The pulp adventure cliffhanger genre has always been very close to our hearts, as players of Fortune and Glory well know, and it's exciting to bring elements of high-adventure and daring journeys into Shadows of Brimstone!
- Jason and Scott

Looking at the Kicktraq it's clear this has been all about the superfans showing up on day one and going all in. I'm surprised their daily totals haven't been all that much even when they've announced add-ons. I'd still guess that the last 48 hours will make this the most funded Shadows of Brimstone project yet, though.

I mean, isn't that just 'sequel kickstarters these days'?
Sure, there are plenty that are more U shaped, with a big opening and a big (if not quite as big) end, but I see plenty of returning campaigns that blow up in the first few days and then see a bump (but not nearly as huge as we used to expect) at the end.
Because it's a known quantity, so why bother waiting? The particular tier or add ons may shuffle, but if Dwarven Forge, CGL, CMON, the Tiny Epic ____ folks, or whatever launch a project, it's pretty much 'oh, get an early bird, forget about it for X years' at this point.

We'll probably hover over and under it for a bit as pledges come and go, add ons get tweaked, etc, but we've hit 1.15m!
150k/350k until the big unlocks! I'm feeling confident about the former, the latter is gonna take some effort...

Yeah, it is. Everybody follows what's going on a lot more closely nowadays to jump on for release day. I am surprised it's closing so softly, though my own initial take on this campaign tells me why, the value isn't compelling unless you're willing to throw down a ton of cash AND you want an entire bookshelf's worth of new content on top of what you already own. I'd imagine they had some people click the 'notify me' button for the final 48, it just doesn't seem to be grabbing them because it remains all or nothing.

With me I'm not adding any addons as the Pharo pledge is enough content and everything is going to retail and I don't mind paying a slightly higher price years from now if I ever get through everything.
