There is a lot of overlap in the hobbies, especially with terrain.
What I expect is for Warlord to shift to Humbrol paints.
There is a lot of cooperation between model companies already, moulds get shuffled around a lot Italeri kits have been sold by Tamiya, some of the current Airfix tanks are from Academy (I am told) and then it gets really complicated...

That’s why you should build an armoured train, because then you can pew-pew whilst you choo-choo!

Went to their US website and it just mostly just Airfix and Warlord stuff so I guess I'm not that surprised. The documentary is worth watching, especially for fans of Hornby. There was a series on Hornby as well that went behind the scenes. https://uktvplay.co.uk/shows/hornby-a-model-world/watch-online Only watched a couple of episodes of it when I randomly saw it on TV, seemed pretty good.

Complete agreement. Expensive and the pots dry up as soon as you open them.
When I still had my HO scale model railroad layout, I used it for war-gaming with HO scale Airfix soldiers. I was twelve at the time and the terrain quality was poor, so there was plenty of space to move the soldiers, unlike the museum quality terrain of the hardcore and older hobbyist.

Humbrol look to be pretty affordable with dropper bottles now days. $3.50 a bottle direct via their US store. Pretty much inline with most others MSRP.

I've tried a few of the newer Humbrol acrylics and they are not too bad.
The old enamels, which took so long to dry that you had to leave overnight, and there was then a layer of dust embedded in the paint, were a different matter. Although I did once use them to paint over some scrape/crash damage on my bike and they did a pretty good job, can't imagine these new-fangled contrast paints doing the same there!
