QA of GW 40k at it's finest... thankfully the militia list exists in 30k but if this at this stage doesn't highlight 40k's quality assurance issues i don't know what else does.

It seems like an easy win because you're missing the point of legends. Legends rules are not real rules, you aren't supposed to use them. They exist for the sole purpose of being a soft fade-out for discontinued units/options, where GW can say "look we gave you some rules" to shut down complaints but few people will ever use the rules and they can be removed entirely at some point without anyone caring. The last thing GW wants to do is make legends rules easier to use by including them in the app.

It's exactly what GW is doing. Can you honestly look at the "support" GW is giving them and say they're anything other than a deliberate attempt to push the rules out of normal use so they can be fully dumped without protest?

They do the same with the core rules every 3 years, the Indexes are written with full intent to be dropped for a codex, maybe we shouldn't be using them as they're not real rules?

So why haven't they, then? How many Legends units have been out of production for years? Wouldn't it have been easy to say, "Your Chaplain Dreadnoughts are just regular Dreadnoughts now"?

for the players, yes that would be much easier

for the company, no if the old Dreadnought is its own unit in Legends, there is a reason to buy the new one and not proxy instead
also stores and "official" events can insist on not using the old models to proxy the new one because there are dedicated rules for the old one (even if they are not allowed at events)


this is the whole reason why Primaris are on their own the first place, if they would have been released as upscaled Space Marine and just replacing old kits right from the start, a lot of people would have not bought them but kept using the old models instead

if there are 2 different units, you get people buying both, with the downside that everything get bloated and they struggle with keeping stock/supply

GW made themselves a long term problem for short term profit and continue in doing so, so it will get worse before it gets better

So, as long expected and clearly signalled, the "Battle Forge" list-builder feature of the 40k App will be getting locked to only WH+ subscribers, as of the end of August. Its not an issue for me (i was already a WH+ sub), but a heads up to those who aren't and dont plan to be.

Also the community site says at the bottom that the minature is only initially exclusive to warhammer plus.

Who would pay for this if the mini was freely avaliable?

Thankfully Battlescribe updated to 10th recently, so it'll just be a matter of the community hopping back to it.

As a plus, BS files usually included Legends units, so it'll be more complete than the official app, in addition to being free.

I think they were trying for a 'first hit is free' situation, but I didn't get the impression that they made something even vaguely good enough to pay for.
