Getting my broom incase there is shenanigans.

and in Game five I Lost to an Eldar army with a Farseer with a Warlock Retinue with a bunch of Signing spears and bikes, 3 guardians squads, NINE vipers, 2 Falcons, a Wraith Lord and an Avatar.

That is odd. Shining spears, bikes and vipers are fast attack. That is 5 fast attack slots. Of course he could do it as Saim-hann, but then he is allowed only one heavy support and he used 3 (2 falcons and a wraithlord). Of course you might have errored and they were wave serpents and not falcons.

Sine this was America's first no-comp GT, what did everone think of the armies? Were most still comp friendly, or were their a lot or very hard armies?

Caboose: Or it's a key all the time, and when you stick it in people, it unlocks their death.

Mabey he meant the farseer and warlocks were on bikes with singing spears.

Blackmoor, I would imagine that was a typo and he meant singing spears.

2) Random levels...I kinda liked it. Ended up playing 3 omega and 2 gamma.
3) Missions - sucked. Only word for it. Rolling for missions was simply dumb. I ended up playing 3 cleanses and 2 Seek and Destroys.

Did they use the GT missions on their website, or made you roll for the missions out of the book?

3. the Games I lost were against players who knew how to face Pods.

That has always been my thoughts on Pods. They are great the first few times you use them against someone, but they people learn how to counter them and they start to loose a lot of their effectivness.

Agreed; I saw that army and it was 2 falcons, 9 Vypers with Starcannons, Wraithlord, Avatar, Wave Serpent with Guardian Defenders and Warlock, and a farseer with warlock retinue with singing spears.

There were a few other Saim-Hann armies as well one of which I believed got 3rd. His army was a good mix of firepower mounted on his Vypers. I think he had 10 total.

The armies there were pretty tough in a thematic-way; though I don't think too many power gamed it. There was an all reaper list there as well, but I don't know how it did.

After playing pods quite a bit, I can't say I agree. Either the person has the sort of list that can counter pods, or they don't. After they learn how to play against pods they may lose less badly, but they'll still lose if they don't have one of the few builds that can deal with pods or draw the right mission/level.

We don't even know if GW will be able to put on a Baltimore event next year.

Troll country

Pods are okay but they are also overrated. Since rhino rush is dead pods are a good way to get assault units and dreads closeup to the enemy. That is all they are good for. Using them to block LOS is just a way to protect your units, not really a tactic in its own merit.

I thought I did pretty well for my first GT, and I noticed a lot of gamer groups up there.

Game 1: I played against Jason, the Slaanesh guy from Nashville. It was on a lava table, with no escalation and take and hold. The game went well for me and my rocket fire was effective enough to take down both the defilers before they could do enough. I came out with a massacare.

Game 2: Dark Eldar, mostly mounted with 30 wyches. Everything went well first turn, but second turn my truck boys charged 2 small DE warrior squads and got pwned hard. After that everything else went down hill, eventually leading to me getting massacared.

Game 3: I played Dung, another player from Nashville. He carried an all mounted Thousand Sons army. Escalation kicked in and all his vehicles started in reserve. When he did come on my 18-ish rockets and 12 ammo runts punished his thousand sons with insta kills. Between the power klaws and rokkits, his Sons fell fast. He did have a crazy moment when he moved his Lord towards my Warboss. He used his warp focus to cast gift of chaos an additional D6. Needless to say, he rolled a 6 for range and just barely got my boss. He rolled for the effect, and a 5 came up, instantly turning my Warboss into a Chaos Spawn. I won a small victory though, with my skorcha rolling a 1 for difficult to move in and claim his table quarter, on the very last turn of the game :/.

Game 4: I played a local guy named Luke, who played a Black Templars. My shooting turned out to be too much. I stripped his dread of both arms with rockets, destroyed 2 razor backs, dropped a half dozen beakies, instant killed his Emperors Champion, flamed 4 Neophytes and an Initate with a Skorcha buggy, who they then raged at and destroyed. The explosion killed another 5 beakies. He was left with a Dreadnought with no weapons (in combat with Tankbustas), a land raider with no weapons (4 weapon destroyed results , sitting in combat with Warboss with Powerklaw and Dreadnought), 1 Terminator (about to get massacared by an assaulting horde of 50 + Orks, and a small Crusader Combat Squad (about to get platted by Russ). I was trying to finish my assaults in my 4th turn when they called game. I finished with a Victorious Slaughter(?) for 17 points.

Game 5: I played vs McRoberts with the 13th Company Mentioned above. I lost all my vehicles to esclation, and his win for first turn led to him charging 2x15 Fenerisan Wolves into may boys, along with a 15 unit of Wulfen into my boys the first turn. Needless to say, I was stupified and he just pwned my Orks in h2h. When the tanks did come on, it was too little too late. The moral victory was when he charged 27 Fenerisan Wolves into my Skorcha buggy. It moved 12, so he needed 6's to hit. Thank god for Spikes and Blades!!!!!!!!!! He destroyed my Skorcha, but no before 21(!!!) Fenerisan Wolves had killed themselves upon the blades!!!! Other than he meltaguned/lascannoned my dread, 3 Kanz, and Russ. A massacare for him, which he derserved.

I thought the tourney was pretty compeditive, and all the guys from Nashville were great to play against. I didnt have any games that were too bad sportmanship wise. DaBoys were also great to talk to, and I can't wait for next year...

If you say so.

The Ork-IG army was played by a friend of mine from Nashville; I believe his army was featured in a WD some time ago.

Yeah, i know Keith. GREAT looking Orkish Imperial Guard army. Awesome painter, and great guy overall. i'll miss talking to him about painting.

i don't think WD did an entire article on his army, but i know i shot a few photos of some of his squads. i think they were included in some sort of general showcase, but i don't remember where.

There were allot of really cool armies this year.  Others that I saw of mention were the Slanesh army using SoB models.  The all FW drop pod dark angels army.  The ATAT Orks, the ones where all the vehicles had legs.

Yeah, I believe it was a showcase spread from all around the nation's GW stores or something to that effect; it wasn't an article but some pics of various armies.

He was going to bring his Legion of Brass Khornate Marines army, but they weren't quite finished, much like my Emperor's Children, hence my quick pull of my backup army of Saim-Hann Eldar to the GT.
