The Harz Rangers


The Harz is the area in Germany where she grew up and has many folklore stories about Dwarves living in the mountains and the Caves are still there today!

These play off the fact that Dwarves are mountain folk and most ranged units will want the high ground in battle:
Mountaineers
Mountain Rangers
Highlanders
Dwarve Guerrillas
Mountain Guerrillas
Mountain Scouts

Since these Dwarves are armed with ranged weapons they will likely be the first soldiers to attack the enemy/draw first blood (forgoing artillery anyway):

Just a few random ones:
Dwarvish Short-beards (no Dwarve worth his beard would carry a ranged weapon into battle over an axe or hammer, unless they are younglings getting their first taste of battle)
Younglings (similar to the previous)
Dwarvish Rearguard (Ranged units usually serve as scouts or as part of the rear line behind the front line melee units providing supporting fire)
Dwarvish Militia (this one is a long shot because most Dwarves will be well versed in the ways of battle and as such the Dwarves do not technically have a militia that will be quickly equipped in times of conflict)
The King Guard
The Hold Guard (Most Dwarvish kingdoms/settlements are called holds)
The Headtakers (the preferred placement of a ranged weapon shot is usually the head)

Cross-eyes - Play on words, Cross as in angry/grumpy and as in crossbow

Well, everyone's gone for bolt and gunpowder themes .
I was thinking more along the lines of what they represent, not what they do.
IE- "The Ironclads" doesn't indicate how the regiment will function (sticking axes into faces etc). Dwarf's in a stereotypical sense are masters of engineering, and it may be safe to assume that most of the dwarf's made their own equipment. And rifle construction isn't too easy .
So on that basis...
