Lol I love how you made that sound like a chore, "god yes your breasts look fine in that one too, can't you speed this up a bit"

They hassle like that because they are put through a highly aggressive sales training program, then set very high sales target figures and the commissar takes the hindmost.

Right.
Taken into account with my previous post:

You're right that there's no "no scatter" rule for Drop Pods. They do all Deep Strike, though. Half (rounded up) on Turn 1 & the rest as regular reserves (have seen people make legitimate mistakes with that, too).

Have you looked at what upgrades are available for them, though?

You can see that I was clear on that.

which is kinda a bad experience involving gw.

No, you just ignore it sub-consciously. It doesn't bother me either, but If I actually went to my games workshop more than once a year it would. Mine's pretty good too. Sort of.

There's a guy who works at fair oaks mall (in virginia, give a WOOT if you go there!) who's really awesome. He's this old black guy who's really knowledgeable, and looks like he's been playing for decades. Really cool guy. He treated me like a hobbyist, not an idiot, which I liked. Sorry if that sounded racist, I just thought it would set him apart from some old "Mid-forties, clean-cut,lanky" stereotypes.

Time for an aussie experience.

I regularly go to Chaddy store and their service is great, not too pushy and real helpful when I need em.

Then one day, they told me to head down to another store for a tourney.

Everything was going great till I was playing a game against a guy who knew the manager quite well and the manager came round and started hassling me.

He kept shouting in my ear what he thought I should do every turn like "RUUUUN MAN, YOU GOTTA RUUUN HERE!" and yelling saying "YOU ARE SOOOO GONNA LOOOOOOOOSE"

It was so out of no where, I'd never talked to the guy before and now he's all up in my face.

He had one of those personalities like he was "King of the Kids" or something. But I was 20, so I took none of it. I told him to piss off, I'm trying to play a game. And he'd come back with "OOOOOOOOO, GETTING TO YA AM I?"

I mean, if I knew the guy, I might of known he was joking around or something. But ya dont just hassle random people hoping their gonna instantly be your buddy.

Total idiot.

Haven't gone back their since.

Ahh, king of the kids, sounds like a familiar story, too bad they have so many young kids at Chaddy otherwise I'd play there more. Your right, great service there though, once they know you they don't get all pushy, I mean, your already hooked if you're going in there regularly anyway!

What was the store with the 'friendly' manager?

I phoned up and was told to come down on Sunday and we will replace it. Suffice to say I turned up on Sunday and the shop was not open. I waited for ages for it to open only to be told to go away. Phoned up Customer Services straight away. The guy I spoke to knew the old manager Ben who I was friends with. I ended up on the phone to him for about 45 minutes. He said he would send out a replacement straight away. On the tuesday I get a huge box. In it is 2 WLC, 1 Screaming Bell and a handfull of blister. Worst and best service in one go.

I never know how to feel about GW's customer service. I had this impression of it being bad...nothing concrete, but just a general feeling from the past decade+.

Last week I'm putting together the Mawloc I got a few months ago. Those little sensor spine things on its back? One of them on the sprue (the model is -all- plastic) doesn't have the little bit that connects it to its back.
"*sigh* Looks like I'm going to have to make a Trygon instead." (for those unfamiliar with the model, it will make one of two different models that are very similar)
Decided to give GW a call, just in case, to see if they had any bits lying around or ideas or something. The rep I got ahold of was very nice, and sent me a whole new Mawloc in the mail, free of charge, when I was expecting a "Sorry, can't really help you, maybe tell people he was injured? But thanks for buying GW!".
I was amazed.
The original kit, of course, still makes a perfectly good Trygon.

Things like this, and the above story, make me question the previous conceptions I had about GW.

That's one thing they've always got right.

Friend of mine bought a bunch of tallarn heavy weapons (blister packed). One of them was missing wheels so back to the store we went.

Manager pulls one off the rack. No wheels. Gives it to him (my friend), pulls another one. No wheels. Gives it to him. Repeat for all the heavy bolter blisters on the shelf.

They get the box of spares from downstairs and he goes through it in the same manner until my friend has seven extra blisters (with no wheels) and one that does.

(and this was back when you could still mail order anything - a quick order for wheels and that would be eight free metal heavy weapon teams)

Whaaaat? He really got another baneblade? Did he open it up in the store and show them, or did he just come to the store with an assembled baneblade without it? Lucky guy, regardless.

worst experience at my old GWS was my very first torny, it was for the battle missions book release, it was a 200p kill team mission.

basicly all models are independent and you could have 3 universal special rules one per character so 3 models could only have them.

i took an IG vet squad with a chimera, tank hunter of melta vet, relentless on a missile launcher and scouts. the scout rule lets you move before the 1st turn is taken and confers over to the dedicated transport its in, so i play one game goes ok i win, 2nd game is agains a guy who brings deamons so i take scout and he kicks up and the manager comes over and says that the rule doesnt work like that, so i go along with it then i find a rule book after the game and show him the rule and he says that i cant use it anyway as its unfair to the rest of the players, tho he allowed the deamons to deep strike i tabled the deamons guy and he then bitched to the manager i was cheating as i used a tank. To make this a more stupid complaint the guy that won the torny was playing deamons and evan beat me! for about a month after i didnt go the the shop as he was friends with all the staff and most of the regulares in there.

The best experience I had at a gaming store was actually at a GW retailer. One of the guys on the floor set up a demo for my friend and I. He was so charismatic, he really loved the hobby, and the table there was so well put together. It was a fantastic experience that got me into 40k.

The worst I had was at an independent gaming store. For some reason, my friends and I already had a bad feeling about this place because it was smack in the middle of Sketch-ville.

When we walk in, there's a coven of sasquatches huddled around some asian girl, talking in low voices. We're just sizing up the place, locating all the tables and counters and racks. I was looking to see what boxes they carried and the entire time I could feel eyes on my back. We were getting ready to leave, I was eye-balling a half assembled Corpse Cart, and my friend the Joker himself says in a stage whisper "hey, let's steal it." We know he's joking, the manager knows he joking, so I jokingly say "don't worry, we're leaving know," or something like that. As we're shutting the door we hear one of the sasquatches say "don't worry, I was watching them the whole time."

Creepy, Territorial nerds were creepy and territorial.

The greatest and worst GW store experience I've had has been at my local store.

My local GW is the Glen burnie Battle bunker in Maryland USA. The manager on duty that day was I can't say his name but he is marrying a co worker he got a job for. Very creepy very weird. That’s a story for another day. My club was starting a Blood bowl league allot of fun. I've never played before and I mainly play armies that aren’t played that much, so I started Ogres. <---- "If this football team is played allot please don't rip my head off I don't know".

I haven't even decided on this team yet but I said “I think I'm going to convert and paint my own ogre team” you know take some pride in it. Once he heard me say this he got me, a box of knoblars a box of bulls black primer and glue. About 150 dollars in product a real : cheese: dick if you ask me.

Needless to say he is a really big : bleep:Hat of a guy who killed the bunker, and now he killed another one in Memphis What a winner. I could go on and on about this guy and so could pretty much anyone who knows him.

But the bunker is back Tom Gruhala is the manager again. So that’s were I hangout at when I'm not out with real flesh and blood friends (not my toys). His approach to selling is fantastic he doesn’t care about selling all the toy men he can. Just want’s people to play games and kill things. Allot of fun when you don't have a guy telling you what you need to buy.
