The original logic outlined in the OP is so faulty it hurts. Kudos on writing a lot of text though.

There has been no concensus as to what is the correct perspective and Dash has just asserted his viewpoint as though it has been deemed the correct viewpoint on his own accord.

And....your post was so useless that it hurt. You added nothing, asserted nothing, didn't bring clarification to any situation.....

+1 trolling, well done!

Is there anything in the game that specifically targets psykers and fits Dash's definition of an attack (as given in his edited original post)?

Sorry if someone gave an example of this in the last seven pages of this thread; I could only stomach the first four.

Yes. There are probably more, but I'm feeling particularly lazy right now.

Evil Lamp 6 wrote:And to answer your question, using Dash's definition of attack, the WH Psyk-out Warhead meets his definition while only affecting psykers. There's probably more, but that's just for starters.

Edit: To clarify, the Psyk-out Warhead is a weapon, has a profile, Str, AP, ect., it rolls to hit with a variable range, it rolls to have an affect against psykers only that doesn't cause wounds (S vs Psyker's Ldr like the Neural Shredder), and it does allow for invul saves.

Edit 2: The Culexus Assassin's Psyk-Out Grenades from C:WH also seems to meet Dash's definition while again only affecting psykers.

There is a fine line between genius and insanity and I colored it in with crayon.

Dash, you may want to make a further update to your final update. Im fairly certain that you didnt mean to say :

"Every queried TO has unanamously ruled that the Crucible of Malediction will affect only the Justicar from the unit, and override the Crucible of Malediction."

As it stands either the sentence got chopped or perhaps the wrong name inserted? Or perhaps just expand the second half of the sentence so that the meaning is a bit more clear. At the moment it sounds like the crucible is overriding the crucible.

Why does my eldar army run three fire prisms? Because the rules wont let me use four in (regular 40k).

Sorry to bring this thread back up, and excuse me if this was already brought up before (I didn't quite read all 11 pages of this thread), but I have new info that may be pertinent to this discussion.

On p. 51, under Psychic Powers, Psychic Barrage (this is refering to psyker henchmen):

"All psykers in the same unit are treated as a single psyker for the purposes of Psychic test, etc......if the squad suffers a PotW, all psykers in the squad suffer the effects." (emphasis in red is mine)

Now this clearly shows that the intent for BoP is clearly meant to affect just 1 model and not the whole unit as opposed to psyker henchmen.

That rule is in reference to the henchmen. Grey Knights have their own rule about how psychic attacks are resolved against their squads.

That's his point...2 units of psykers, different ways to allocate and resolve.

GW will rule in favor of GK.

Something that destructive (not an APOC item) usually gets nerfed. Doom was going to de-populate vehicle parking lots but that got FAQed the other way.

In the same vein, Doom's spirit leech was not a shooting attack but GW allowed coversaves.

GW does not rule by precedent since 2 Autarchs can do +2 reserves but 2 astropaths dont.

The CoM entry says that it is a weapon and even though it is under the arcane wargear section, so is the shatter shard and hex rifle. It is also used instead of shooting.

After reading BoP ruling, by RAW the test would affect one of two things:

1) whole unit at once
2) The justicar, knight of flame, or regular GK

I dont see GW ruling for #1 as it would be too powerful to easily wipe an unit as such. But those are the two possible outcomes.

Comparing tournament records is another form of e-peen measuring.
