It might be too late but could the gigantic Chunnel-sized gun be moved under the hull?

Sticking out like that it looks, I dunno, like someone stuck a gun on an otherwise normal space ship.

Hmm, I was thinking of that. The original plan was to do what you're suggesting for the Lance Frigate. The only major flaw with this is that when you use these models on the battletable, you don't really get to see the bottom part of the ships. The gun then remains kinda hidden, which is a bit of a shame.

In a way it's also a tribute to the Space Fleet era Dominator ship, and the Venusian gunship Ben had already done back in the day.

Y'know after I posted I thought of the Dominator which I love for the sheer over the top-ness of it.

Maybe if the shape of the barrel extended further back across the spine of the ship?

And move the turrets to the belly?

Started working on my tribute/interpretation of a Kill Ship. Also heavily influenced by that Blood Angels ship from Blood Quest.

The craft has been dubbed the 'Felis class Stealth Ship'. It's a tiny bugger (9.25mm tall, 29.01mm long, 9.89mm wide) that carries weapons that can exterminate entire planets or elite units (including assassins) meant to take out specific targets. A very fast, stealthy, and deadly ship, but totally vulnerable once discovered.

And compared to some of the other ships I've done.

Left (top to bottom): Lynx class Destroyer, Pardinus class Lance Destroyer, Felis class Stealth Ship
Right (top to bottom): Panthera class Heavy Frigate, Escort Carrier (still needs a name), Defence Monitor (still needs a name)

Nice stuff I'd be interested.

I'd probably a bit late but maybe not, I notice on your two destroyers and the monitor that the two turrets can't shoot ahead (the back one would zorch the front one), can they be put on tiers like with the panthera cruiser?

It's a recurring flaw I think. I guess the turrets are more meant to shoot in different directions, it's a 3 dimensional battle after all.

Been working on some smaller mercantile ships that will most likely be released on a single sprue. Each craft is about 20mm long.

Curious to hear your feedback before shipping this one off for production.

Looking good, I really like the hammer head one.

20mm so a bit less than an inch. Never too many generic small space ships. I'd buy them.

Browsed through NASA's database and found a relatively high-res asteroid, so I thought: lets try to make a Novan mining station. I imagine that most mining would be done on asteroids, basically strap a whole bunch of engines on them and then suck it dry.

I'm running into a couple of issues though:
1) NASA doesn't have many different high-res asteroids files, most are pretty low resolution and just look like blobs.
2) These will be pricy to produce since they are basically massive chunks of material that need to be printed, as solid models they'd also be rather heavy, unless you go for resin.
3) One of the fun things with asteroid stations and such is the modelling itself.

A sollution is to make a modelling kit. There are many ways you can make easy asteroids as seen here and there. But a small baggy of 'station bits' could really add a bit of character. So various thrusters, turrets, buildings/towers, landing bays, docking stations, etc.

Your thoughts?

Kit would be better also with a few tweaks to avoid direct scale problems it could work as gubbinz for 6mm & 3mm scenery as well......

Just throwing this here...

Novan Elites Felis Class Stealth Ship x 4 - £5.00

Felis Class stealth ships are used by Novan Elite forces for special missions and deep recon operations and carry special ordinance amongst their arsenal. A small reasonably well armoured vessel the Felis relies heavily on its stealth technology to evade detection. A black ops ship more than a front line combat vessel it nevertheless has proven its worth in many campaigns the length and breadth of Commonwealth space.

Set contains:

4 x Felis stealth ship hulls
4 x optional wings sets

Model length: 31mm

Just a thought, but I think there is some real hunger for a battleship (or bigger) option out there. Vanguard already has a few escorts but with resin now an option and flexible big ship would get a lot of people excited.

A battleship is definitely something I'd love to try, but those would be quite long term projects. They take a long time to design and are expensive to produce (be it metal or resin). So it's a bit of a risk to do. However, Vanguard Miniatures might be able to pull it off if they'd do it through a crowdfunder.

Until then there are still several more escorts I'd like to add for the Novan Elites, as well as a Light Cruiser sized craft, here is a very early WIP shot of that ship:

So this just happened...

Novan Elites Lynx Class Destroyers - £5.00

Lynx class Destroyers are small and fast craft that are capable of quickly delivering their deadly cargo. For its size the Lynx is heavily armed, making it a jack of all trades. Its basic armament includes two dorsal mounted twin turrets to take out incoming ordnance which can be replaced with planetary bombardment cannon as the mission dictates, and two pairs of prow torpedo tubes. Its broadsides allow for different types of weapon systems which can be changed whilst in dock due to its modular design. Most common broadside configurations are either weapon batteries or launch bays for a small compliment of fighters and assault craft.
Its diverse armament is also its main disadvantage. A lot of space normally used for supplies such as fuel, ammunition, foodstuffs, and oxygen is sacrificed for the Lynx’s many weapon systems. What this means is that the Lynx needs constant resupplying, making it incapable of long independent missions away from sources of supply. Because of this the Lynx is often deployed on short duration missions only, when not operating as part of a larger battle flotilla.

This set contains:
2 x Lynx Destroyer hulls (1 x batteries, 1 x launch bays)
2 x optional wings sets and twin turrets
2 x alternative bombardment turrets

Painted by John Fielding in Ferro Ascendancy colours.
Model length approx. 38mm
Flight base not included

Haha, thanks!
By the way, help is needed! I need some inspiration to model a Bombardment Cannon (normally mounted on Space Marine Strike Cruisers and Battle Barges). I just have no clue what one would look like. Do you have any ideas or anything? Please share them here (pictures would be even better!).

Thanks in advance!

I imagine a motar-like, something with a short barrel at a high angle for bombing planets.

The Android BFG game had some nice effects with their bombardment cannons, the whole ship would shake when it was fired.
