Thanks guys you know I hadn't even thought of BFG! :S I'll look to see if there's some comparable units in that for what I've got in mind never played it though...

Yeah I did think the bike seats are a little too obvious. I'd like to sort them, but I haven't got any GS and didn't have a suitable bit to cover them with. TBH it's probably about time I got some GS!

I like them but also agree about the bike seat.

Thanks Kestral I've discovered some fairly ancient GS in one of my old hobby boxes so I'll have a go at disguising the seats soon

As for progress, I'm nearly done with the modelling of my Ynnari Dire Avengers I've got a little bit of work to do building up the helmets so that the faceless section is a bit more rounded and smooth, probably with Liquid Greenstuff when I get some

I tried Grave Guard legs, but the monopose for them is pretty severe. Every single one is in the exact same pose, which looks good in a regiment of undead, but not so much on a squad of round-based dudes. Can't wait until they get round to AoS-ing some of the older Fantasy factions so I can pinch bits from them! Til then, Flagellant legs will have to do

Oh, also came up with a little bit of background fluff for my Prophet

Deep in the bowels of Commorragh, a metallic clatter echoed through the depths as one of Malcarta's servile units dropped its workload. Searing white light burned through its neurones as its life flashed before its eyes. Birth and early years on Craftworld Angvellaith, railing against its oppressive atmosphere. Tears of his mother as he left to follow the Outcast Path. First firefight aboard the Corsair Corvette 'The Shadow Lingers in Twilight'. The terrible debt he accrued with the twisted haemonculi. The subtle psychological conditioning worming into his mind as he sold himself to servitude. Dullness of sensation as he carried out his masters wishes decade after decade. Death and resurrection, over and over.

It all burned in blinding clarity as memories reasserted themselves. Feeling flowed through his aching limbs. Psychic potential blossomed in his cerebelli. One face filled his newfound vision: Yvraine. He knew he had felt the kiss of death and the rush of resurrection many times before. Nonetheless he was reborn.

Lastly, what self-respecting protagonist would go without a mortal enemy?

Since they first came out, I've always loved the Oldcron fluff, especially pitching them as an ancient mythic enemy of the Eldar. I was always used to the Eldar being the oldest and wisest of the 40k races, and discovering just how young they truly are was a beautiful shock to the system their fluff had the absolute perfect balance of threat, terror and mystery for them to be utterly intriguing.

Whatsmore, models and artwork like this just absolutely captivated me

So, I just had to make some proper Oldcron Yngir adversaries to my Eldar. Not some lame-ass Tomb Kings...in spaaace. Proper alien eldritch terror from the depths of prehistory that even the Eldar don't remember

Thanks guys

Yeah I'm really pleased how the Lord turned out he's based on the Lychguard kit as they're fluffed as having the same chassis as Lords, and they're quite a bit bigger than standard Necrons. The head is a Necron Destroyer head, the tattered cloak is from the Wraith that sits on the Vampire Counts Corpse Cart and the claw is from a Sylvaneth Spite Revenant

Couple of little touches on him too it seems to me that having an extended spine (either upwards or downwards) seems to be reserved for higher ranking Necrons. So, from a paleocultural perspective (is that a word? should be...), either Necrons had tails, or more likely having an extended spine was a sign of superiority in ancient Necrontyr culture. So, I've given him a tail and mashed together the Lychguard and Praetorian spines to extend it upwards further

The other thing that I like doing is making HQ units taller than other soldiers so they stand out, either by having them leaping or standing on scenery. Having him carried forth on a swarm of flesh-eating Scarabs seemed too cool of an idea to pass up!

I'm glad you like the Dire Avengers Gummy while I absolutely adore the Dire Avenger models (they're the archetypal Craftworld warrior for me), I do feel like I couldn't pass up the opportunity to make the Ynnari versions a little more ragged

The legs are from the Empire Flagellants kit yeah. They actually come as a torso and legs in one piece, but they helpfully have a bit of a waist that you can neatly clip through to separate them

Latest bit of kitbashing Storm Guardians are up to 5-strong now. Need some more Wych legs and female Guardian torsos. Also, can't decide whether to give them flamers or fusion guns...

Also, I'd like to introduce you to the first of Khali's Bloodbrides

Thought a neat way of representing the extra attack Bloodbrides have is with some extra arms to make that attack!

I've also got a bit of an idea for a small Wych Cult based on 'enhanced' gladiators an idea shamelessly stolen from Eye of Error's fantastic Lelith Hesperax conversion:

I've thought for a while that since I made Thaegr the horned Son of Kurnous/Autarch dude that my winged Autarch was looking a little...I don't know...unadventurous...

Then, sifting through bits while looking for something else I came across two unused Tree Revenant arms and I had a bit of a lightbulb moment. 2 hours of modelling later and behold!

And done!

Myrdolaith, Hawk-Friend, Stormbringer, Daughter of Faolchu. Prince of the Selestini of the Sandspires
The great hawk pierced the vale between the webway and soared out over alien skies. She felt the rush of thermals rising from the industry below beating at her feathers, and watched from on high as the humans scurried about their business far below. Vermin, she thought, infesting their ancient lands.

She perched on an outcrop, wraithbone talons finding tenuous purchase on the mountainous rock, and stared down intently at the settlement below. She spied the bright heraldic trim of the Knight World the vermin called Salazar's Rest. Their warriors were on guard at this early stage of colonisation, and clustered around a hulking mechanical creature that was belching vast exhaust plumes into the atmosphere.

They would take a great deal of effort to dislodge from this world. She would have to return with many warhawks to drive them back. For now, she would have to content herself with picking off a straggler to bring back to her clan as evidence of the trespass. Selecting a suitable quarry, she let out a keening cry and plummeted from her outcrop, eyes fixed on her unwitting prey.

Haha thanks guys

Yeah one evening to make and one evening to paint, but I can assure you that it normally takes a hell of a lot longer!

It's also quite refreshing to paint an individual model as opposed to a squad of 10 of the same dudes. I think part of the reason I've got so many HQs is to intersperse the regular squads and keep me sane!

Came up with a little fluff for Lhorizar my Void Dreamer today, inspired slightly by the background to the Aethermancy Corsair psychic discipline, and how it draws its power from the webway rather than the warp.

You see, the Void Dreamer explained, his wings curling round him as he held his meditative pose, the webway itself has a pulse and a power all of its own. The Craftworlders don't feel it. They spend far too long gazing into the dreaming future to notice the subtle fluctuations in the fabric of the present. My Commorite kin could likely feel it, if they didn't persecute any throwbacks such as myself who show an ounce of psychic potential.

Urgebelach, the Harlequins call it. The study of how you can change the webway, and how it changes you in return. Its very fabric permeates both the warp and the material universe, and with skill can act as a conduit between them. The webway has changed the fibres of my mind, and I have learnt its heartbeat. I call out to it, and its voice flows through me.

Wheeling that out provided the motivation to go back and fix the slightly dodgy starscape I had on the Void Dreamer's helmet. Much better in just jet black

Thanks man yeah he's one of my favourites too! Enough to be my avatar certainly

Haha! Oddly I'm more excited about the Bonesinger than any of the Triumvirate. Really do love that model not that I'm not keen to see your Triumvirate after your frankly stunning Harlies of course

I've got a couple of ideas that I want to try out with the Triumvirate the Yncarne I want to make a little more alien and deathly, in both paint scheme and modelling-wise.

The Visarch won't be the Visarch at all, but will use his model as a base

Yvraine unfortunately I'm having a little trouble thinking of something to do with her, but I'm sure I'll think of something open to ideas though!
