Funny story, my wife and I saw a preview for a movie with him in it a while back and she said "I hope that's good, it would suck for his last movie to be a bad one." She said she'd seen his funeral on tv and president Obama was there and everything.
It was Nelson Mandela's funeral.
"Holy Sh*&, you've opened my eyes and changed my mind about this topic, thanks Dakka OT!"

This is shaping up to be a bad week for Canada. Gord Downie, frontman for the Tragically Hip, dead at 53. A nation mourns her favorite son.

Such a sad day. We all knew it was coming of course but so, so sad nonetheless. It was such a shock when he announced it. My mum died a couple of weeks ago too, on the same day as Tom Petty so it has been a really crappy month for me.
One of my biggest regrets was not going to see The Hip when they toured the UK a few years ago. I figured they would be back another time but as we now know, it was not to be....

That, along with Smokey and the Bandit, is one of my favorite movies of all time.
Sadly, Sunday, we also lost Della Reese. She was best known as one of the stars of Touched By An Angel, in addition to being an accomplished R&B singer. She was 86.
Warren "Pete" Moore, singer/songwriter, and one of the original members of the legendary Motown group "The Miracles" (alongside Smokey Robinson), passed away at age 78.
Veteran TV presenter Keith Chegwin has died aged 60 after a long illness, his family says.
I maintain the riff in the theme to "Cheggers plays pop" is one of mankind's greatest achievements.

"Operation Yewtree is a police investigation into sexual abuse allegations, predominantly the abuse of children, against the British media personality Jimmy Savile and others. The investigation, led by the Metropolitan Police Service, started in October 2012. After a period of assessment it became a full criminal investigation, involving inquiries into living people, notably other celebrities, as well as Savile."
Really one for the "Dark side of Hollywood" thread. In the context of Grotsnik's post, a distressing number of British TV and radio personalities of the 80s (contemporary with Keith Chegwin's peak of fame) turned out to have had a dark side.
