Latro_ wrote:i think we're getting a bit spoilt guys complaining about today's stuff... acting like last month no new abby, no new csm... so much new stuff lately.
only a few years back their were gamesdays that had literally sod all new.
GW have been pumping out a lot of late. i'v never been a GW apologist but last 2-3years they have got their act together.
I think the difference is that in the past we often got big news that was a total surprise and a shock plus we got big singular releases that were huge. GW right now is doing so many weekly releases and putting out news so often that we instead get a drip-feed approach. This mean when it comes to some major trade shows, like this one, they don't actually have any "big" news because we've had it all in little bits already. So its more a continuation than a big pause. Essentially we've gone from a system where we were starved and each big event was a celebration that something was happening; to one where we are honestly super-rich in news and releases. Heck over the last few years we've had Bloodbowl, Shadspire, Adepticus Titanicus, Necromunda, almost all of 40K and around half of AoS all released, some with massive amounts of brand new stuff.
Also I think some of the bigger AoS news and perhaps even other lines, is on hold. The trade issue is clearly messing with GW and their releases at present. With AoS releases so far being Battletomes, Endless Spells and Terrain at their core those are all products produced overseas - all sitting in the container awaiting clearing entry to the country. Sylvanath was supposed to be out already, perhaps there's another Tome GW was going to reveal at this event and they were left unable because its backlogged.
Finally lets not forget this isn't the last news from GW for another 6 months. They have marketing material going out 7 days a week. You can bet we'll get some news and pre-orders for next week appearing tomorrow. That we'll see hints and info all through the week and then another pre-order on next weekend.

I think the more I look at it as a whole model the more I dislike it. I think it's the back and the fact that it should probably have the grav plates on it rather than being a hovercraft. It's mostly the back section that kills it.
Honestly the lads at the design studio seem nice but I think they might be being given a bit too much free reign.

Not sure about airbrush (although don’t see why not, they’re basically wash consistency and while you shouldn’t use water with them on models that’s just because that makes them dry weird). They work over anything as far as I know (the guy was telling me how to use them over silver to do 30k Thousand Sons, or on power weapons etc). The beige primer makes the colours more vibrant and the grey makes them colder and darker, but I don’t see why you couldn’t do them over anything else. I think the primers are just for the ‘prime and 1 coat’ system they’re advertising for it.
Did you happen to take any pictures, or have any more details about contrast? Especially interested in how the white looked.

To be fair, ad mech should also have access to everything that the imperium has, weapons, vehicles etc...
I’d settle for access to choice established imperial vehicles.

well if they are 3 or 4th cousin's then well....
I don't know about this, I want to like it. I don't play 8th but I do have a HH Mechanicum.... now in my opinion, this would be really easy to turn into some kind of walker. The 4 or 6 legs on the side would be easy enough to convert or you could a millipede like conversion with tons of small legs.... hum choices choices choices. Personally I can't wait for the new knight with the double large conversion beamers, that looks aces.
The repulser looks like gak, nothing can save that design even if they go the GI Joe route of just sticking more guns and missiles on it to make it look cool.

I’ve never liked rhinos. I don’t think they make any sense whatsoever as a transport for an elite force like marines and I don’t really want a primaris one. It’s a useless piece of kit. The marines would be more vulnerable inside it than on foot as it’s a large but essentially unarmoured target, with no ability to defend itself. It’s not even particularly fast.
Also, land raiders have always existed. There’s no scenario in which you’d choose to use a rhino, if you could use a land raider instead. A rhino isn’t better at anything than a land raider. It’s just cheaper to build, but that doesn’t make it more efficient. A squad of 10 marines represents a vast investment of resources, so you’d want to look after them.
A stormraven is a much more reasonable transport for marines. It can quickly take them anywhere and it’s tough enough to deliver them intact. That’s how an elite strike force like the SAS or navy seals would get around, in a high-tech universe.
The repulsor is similar. It sacrifices the stormraven’s speed in exchange for durability, which is a valid compromise. And of all the vehicles in this list, it’s by far the best in game right now. So much dakka!
The weird thing with the new version is that it’s very similar to the old one. Depending on what weapons it can take it’ll either be irrelevant or it’ll replace the original entirely.

Only they have to convert the models and use the Imperial Codex; so GW doing a Chaos version using the same core of models and twisting the rules to be more "chaos themed" is a nice twist.
It also sets the ground nicely because chances are those Chaos Titans are the forerunners for Adepticus Titanicus variations being made!
Only with a new gun so you have to buy again...
Theres no compulsion to buy the new kit at all. Besides as much as the new gun looks a bit like a volcano cannon, it might be a titan super soaker doing 10d6 str1 ap - d1 hits for all we know.
Sure. If new weapons suck no need. But one thing we can count is new weapons and rules for chaos knights so old kits can't be used as count as

In fairness I think its mostly getting overlooked because all GW did was post a banner for it and nothing else. We've been through the whole experience of that so many times now as a community that everyone is just waiting for the real new release.

I must be in the minority. The Admech tank and transport have a very strong 1950's retro sci-fi look to them. This is what makes them look very nice, as always it is the GW clean colour sceme that does them no favours.
Still the biggest news from the weekend is that AI is coming back, that is for me personally the best news of the entire event.

I'd be tempted to cut of the loading ramp bulge on the tank version of the hovercraft, and mount some missiles in a pod of some sort if nessesary, as I think that improves the look. Should be a fairly simple conversion
