A fan theory i've read somewhere suggested that the presence of things like stubbers instead of heavy bolters and the abundance of missile weapons hints at Cawl not being able to outfit the Primaris to Firstborn standards - he uses worse, but easier to make and maintain auxiliary weapons and cuts corners everywhere because he does not have the industrial base to gear up his hordes of 'frozen' Primaris.

I dunno, it could be a Tau sort of thing, where they seem like they have all advanced stuff, but there's not that many of them to begin with and what they have is in limited supply.
It could be that as Primaris ranks increase the good stuff starts to run out.
Kind of like, I dunno, seeing one soldier armed with state of the art body armour and optics, and assuming everyone has them, but it's really just one guy because all that gear is stupidly expensive.

I think they haven't gone far enough.
If you're going for the ridiculous OTT 90s look, you gotta go all out.

Also, why don't Orks have these? Orks would love these weapons.
Once again, GW's spite towards Orks rears its head, giving Orky weapons to marines.
Next they'll release a new Killa Kan model as a Space Marine scout dreadnaught.

The underworlds warband felt a bit underwhelming.
We've already got a pretty straightforward Daughters of Khaine team. What is this warband going to bring that's different?

Poorly lit photos of my ever- growing collection of completely unrelated models!

They may be salvageable if you go all-out-it's-the-80s-again on them, leopard print leotards, neon leg and pulse warmers, ridiculous hair colours and eye shadow...

Basically lean in into the 'lady wrestler' aesthetic.

The reason marines use stubbers now is to sell more models with weapons that people don't already have in their collections, that's the one and only reason, no theorising required. It's the same reason Primaris devastators are... this and aren't HB, MM etc.

Well, those new Nerf gun Marines are proof that GW 1) have no more ideas with Marines, and 2) know that the fan base will buy anything with the GW logo slapped on it.

Those are just utterly stupid, and yet somehow they got approved, at every step of design they were accepted.

Come back Centurions you are almost forgiven.

Can we just go back to Tactical, Veteran, Assault, and Devastator Marines? Timeless classics that work now just as well now as they first came out.

The objective of the game is to win. The point of the game is to have fun. The two should never be confused.

LOVE the new skinks riding silly dinos. The new slann is nice, and feels to me like an update of the current one rather than a whole new thing. I'm torn on the saurus, as I really love the derpy old ones. I prefer the old warrior's shields, it would be nice if the new ones had both old and new style shields to give us the choice. The new ones have really obvious and unneeded crotch bulges (just why??) but are really nice sculpts otherwise. I wonder whether Seraphon will be getting further new models, or if this is it - considering Soulblight had the skeletons redone, but not the grave guard, I wonder if saurus warriors but not saurus guard will be updated, which would leave the saurus guard looking small and unimpressive in comparison... and has me wondering whether to buy more of the old saurus warriors to round out my force rather than go to get the new ones and find they dwarf everyone else.

I'm really disappointed with the new DoK warband, the leader especially is basically the same as the old warband's leader but worse. I'd love an excuse to buy more stabby aelves but I may actually end up passing on this one.

I want to like the vampires and they seem like a nice idea, but they fall a bit flat for me. Karanak cultists are mostly great though.

Sad that Kabalite warriors are just getting an upgrade sprue, but not surprised.

Everything else I'm not fussed about, but the new marines look stupid.

Feel like the Kabalite upgrade set is a missed opportunity for them to make a plastic Mandrake set instead for Dark Eldar. Would have fit the kill team set up like a glove.

The new saurus are what the sixth ed saurus should have been, according to Paul Dainton's(?) art, rather than the grumpy-labrador minis that actually were. I could say it's about time? But I'm mostly just happy with these. (If only someone didn't think every vaguely reptilian fantasy creature must have raptor feet now) Might be the first lizardmen I buy since then.

Square 25mm bases? I'll count myself lucky that they fit on 40mms.

Skink cav could look worse, but come on GW. Clumsy feathering on dinosaurs is something amateur deviantart palaeoartists worked out a decade or more ago.

Otherwise, space... marines... ah... aauhm...

Ashaar wrote:

Like CMLR says, it might be based on the general saurischian-dinosaur type pelvis.

Otherwise, well... come here. Sit down for a moment. I'm sure you've noticed that there are differences between mummy sauruses and daddy sauruses...

The chunky childrens toy aesthetic in marines has been going on for decades now but these missile launchers are something else. Who tf designs missile launchers to look like rifles in the first place? And why have multiple, individual usage variants of the ONE WEAPON that's classically had multiple warheads?

It's at the point now that 3rd parties just design cooler stuff most of the time. Feels like GW is mostly staffed by action toy designers.

I wonder if these were supposed to be some kind of heavy bolter or assault cannon variant and GW decided at the last minute to make the missile launchers for rules or lore reasons. Can't spend time redesigning the whole model so just copy/paste some missile bits onto the machine guns in your CAD software and send it off to the factory.

Seraphon won the show for me. I actually cried. Tears streamed down my face. I may have already said this, I don't even know. That's how hyped I am for new Seraphon.

The fact we're getting more on top of this to be revealed is even more exciting. All I really want is new Kroxigor. Everything else would be whipped cream on the cake.

I'm hoping for some big dinosaurs. Since the carnosaur came out, the size and base size of showpiece models has gone up. This is a great time, especially if they don't plan to update more lizardmen models for another 5+ yr period, introduce a new beast like an arcanadon, plastic dread saurian, I can hope -- thunder lizard. Why not young carnosaur cavalry, etc.

I doubt I'm lucky enough for that. Certain plastic krox will come though.

I feel bad for marine players. Hoping for new primaris scaled terminators. Not for me.i won't use them but for the fan base.

Presumably based on nothing.

The Latin pronunciation would be ar be tes.
40K being very based in that.

It's barely based on Pig Latin....

Putting: ae, ices, a, i, and so on, onto made up word, doesn't make it "Latin", lol.

They still look like Sisters of Battle no matter how you say it.

Most videos I've seen say Ar-Bites or Ar-bitties.

Although, since it's from England, I imagine we need someone between Cockney and Brummie accents to come in here and set everyone straight.

Man, those Arbites are awesome.

I have no idea why you would dispatch Arbites to a Xenos/Chaos infested space hulk, rather than use them to control non-compliant Imperial citizenry, but damn, they look good. I wanna complain about not having Kill Teams for a Space Hulk that are actually associated with Space Hulks, like, I dunno, Genestealers and Terminators or something, but the sweet, sweet Arbite goodness prevents me.

GW's gonna have trouble figuring out whether people are buying HH because they love the setting and the rules, or because the Marines look less freaking stupid in 30K.

Seeing as most of these terms first came out before mass media engagement, gamers have probably come up with a myriad of pronunciations.

I've always gone with ar bight ees.

Then again, I'm from Cornwall. Who knows what the Northern cockneyscznd brummie come up with.

I believe in this case, the Arbites are after an Impetial citizen.

A prison ship transporting a notorious psychic criminal has crashed into the Gallowdark. Making their escape into the warren of corridors within, they have become the target of the highest echelons of Imperial law enforcement.

It's tough to say what the 'centerpiece' model is supposed to be for Seraphon. Kroak already sorta fits that bill with how big and ornate he is, and now the new Slann will be up there too.

A dread Saurian would be cool but maybe too big for AoS centerpiece models. I'm thinking things along the size of the Greater Daemons, Black Coach, Krondys/Karazai, which... Kroak does already fill that sorta size.

Would be nice to get some new big dinos though. An updated Stegadon to be bigger and more along the new style would be great!

Also I think the Stegadon holds up pretty damn well considering it’s getting on a bit now. I’d definitely take a new big Dino though! There is a rumour engine that looks like some kind of orrery/energy thing that I could see on top of a big dinosour.
