It felt like there used to be tons of people packing Nurgle sorcerers with the infamous Rot. It was like you couldn't meet a Chaos list without at least one Rotter in it. What happened to that? I don't think I've seen a rotter in 2+ years. How did that get knocked out of the whole "Nurgle Chaos Rules All" thing?

Isn't it a little weaker now than in 3rd edition? if not the reason i can come up with is that sorcerers are pretty bad now, so taking one just for one mediocre power isnt a good idea.

For the same amount of points you get Winds which wounds on a 4+ and glances all vehicles on the same and allows no cover saves or armour saves.

Not too mention it takes up a slot you could fill with a demon prince, which is usually cheaper and much killier

Wind of Chaos is double the points of nurgles rot.

Princes can take psychic powers, which include nurgles rot.

The reason nobody takes it is that people take mech armies now. Nurgles rot cant hit units in vehicles so other powers, like warptime, are better generally.

I mean, what's the point in winning if you allow people that don't take the game seriously to live?

Hmmm. Warptime is a pretty stellar power, doubly so when used by a Daemon Prince. I'm actually not sure that Nurgle's Rot can't hit guys in transports. I believe it was discussed in the YMDC forums a little while ago under DoM (but it's the same sort of effect so I think the same would apply).

Oops read the entry wrong. Yeah it is double the point cost.

The BGB states that psychic powers cant affect units embarked in vehicles. DoMs ability is not a psychic power so that rule does not apply.

I have used a nurgles rot prince a few times. Its not very impressive against meq but against bugs, guard and other eldar it can be a nice little surprise bomb.

The reason that nobody takes Nurgle's Rot anymore is because of the simple fact that it's not all that effective. It's sometimes effective against horde armies, but not enough to really be considered a great option. Basically, on average, Nurgle's Rot is going to be wouding the enemy on 5's, which is pretty bad. The only time I've seen Nurgle's Rot really effective is when a Daemon Prince or a Sorcerer is surrounded by Hormagaunts and lets loose the psychic power, killing a few gaunts. There are better psychic powers in the Chaos Space Marine codex than Nurgle's rot. I would always recommend Warptime over the Rot.
