i have a few theories

1. he dies, creates a new eye of terror & new chaos god
2. he dies, becomes a star child then farts in abannons face & kills him
3. he dies but sends a distress signal for all primachs to come back to lead the imperium

Well, if the Emperor dies the whole galaxy is SOL considering the entire AStronomicon goes with him. Warp travel would be near impossible.

True, the Imperium would be unable to support it's self. But the idea of the Primarchs coming back strikes me as cool.

I don't think any of your theories are realistic.

Why would he create a new Chaos God? The Emperor is made from the human Pyksic who sacrified themselves in mass sucide so that all their powers born into one man. The Emporah! No one knows where the Chaos Gods came from, it's very unlikely that they can be made from a human even if he has crazy awesome powers.

Why would all the Primarchs return? It's been ten thousand years. I think they're probaly all dead by now or trapped somewhere and unable to return to the Imperium.

I happen to believe the same; but I think he's going to kill him in order to force his soul to fully merge with the Star Child...

that could be a possibility, but my gut says cypher and russ are just going to resurrect him

How do we know this? It says in the fluff that Cypher is slowly making his way to Terra, yes. And it does state that he wants to get to the Golden Throne to get to the Emperor. But how do we know what he intends to do? We don't. As much as I and probably a few others out there would like to believe that Cypher will save the Emperor, you also have to remember that he is a Fallen Angel. For all we know he's been holding a grudge and wants to stab the Emperor with Luther's sword and kill him.

As for the primarchs returning if the Emperor dies, I see that as a possibility. After all, only a few were confirmed killed. Roboute and the Lion are in stasis at the moment potentially healing, Russ Corax and Vulkan simply vanished but they could come back, and the Khan is somewhere in the Webway so he might be alive still.

So to the OP, your option no. 3 is a good idea.

Stop the machines and that body dies.... and 'god' is free.

I think Cyphers job is to find a way to stop the machine and free the Emperor from the trap of his decaying body.

that could very well be true. also cypher has the lion's sword not luther's sword. in fact the dark angels have luther's sword, though how cannical that information now is is uncertain as it is from an old dark angel's story

According to Lexicanum, he might be trying to return a reforged lion sword to the emperor in order to find absolution

How can this topic even be started? The Emperor can never die because a God can never die!

Even if Cypher kills the Emprah for malicious reasons, if the Illuminati catch wind of it they can perhaps find a way to make sure the Emperor reaches the Star Child?

going from the lore I have read, the DA's recovered Luthers sword from a info from a traitor marine, the emperor is aware of what is happening in the universe from when he talked to an inquisitor in Inquisition war...his mind has split into thousands on different facets to protect the imperium....Alpha legion is said to actually be working against chaos....the eldar showed them the future, and with them being the spooks of the imperium they will strike chaos from behind....what I would like to know is what happened to the Intrix? thte human culture in the HH series that the marines could not defeat....when Erebus stole the anthema....the fleet did not fight thme...they were too badass and had been fighting chaos for millenia already....enough background....

I think that a number of event s will culminate to end the stagnation of the imperium...first the mechanicus will go through a purge with a new leader rising and innovation will lead to the reclamation of technologies and inovations in war....Eisenhorn will lead another purge of the inquisition and the administratum once again leading it on its true course...There will be a another founding with the space marine legions once again reaching heresey levels to combat the enemy's of the imperium....the new mechanicum and inquisition will lead to a period of crusade for the imperium....with the tech for the golden throne recovered and improved the emporer will start to pull his mind together from its shattered pieces....the psychic call will see the return of the Mia primarch's and the healing of guilliman and the awakening of Johnson.....the emporer will correct the mistakes he had made and will once again lead the armies of the imperium ...this will be the mightiest excursion into the EOT....with tech and warships that make the chaos fleet of millenia past obsolete the imperium will raze every chaos planet to non existence....the culmination will be the emperorr and his sons battling the traitor primarchs/demon princes....russ/johnson /khan/corax etc will all fall as will all of the traitors....the emperor himself will be the hand of destrusction of abbaddon and fulgrim....He will then once again feel the love for his children and send guilliman and the imperium forces out of the eye of terror....in a battle with the chaos gods the imperiums corpse god will trully ascend ....in a psychic battle the EOT will be sealed and the warp infused with his will forever keeping chaos at bay.....the imperium will stand for another 10k millenia until such a time as war is called again....

the interex were destroyed by abbadon later after horus falls. not sure on when but the HH books make the reference to it.
id still say that humanity will just fall and scattered just like in the old night and then the emperor will rise again and the next Great Crusade begins again.

Cypher will bury the Lion Sword into the Emperor, which will result in the big E completing his apotheosis and thus becoming what he once so detested: a god. He will be able to maintain the Astronomicon through a strict diet of psykers, recall the missing Primarchs, heal the sick Primarchs and all this before lunch. His mind will remain fragmented, in a manner of speaking, with each fragment representing a different aspect (like a pantheon of gods) so you'll see Emperor the Healer, Emperor the Warrior, Emperor the Scholar, Emperor the Premature Masturbator (obscure reference?). Lots of wars and dead Guardsmen and Tyranids later, humanity enters 10k years of bliss and all is well.

Considering the HH novels, Cypher is probably an agent of "the Cabal" and is indeed trying to kill the Emperor so that humanity will collapse in on intself, saving the galaxy from the majority of the taint of Chaos.

I wish they would advance the current storyline along a little. Thats about the only thing I miss of the old worldwide campaigns GW used to run.

I've heard from a couple of places that the Emporer is already dying due to unrepaireble malfonctions in the golden throne and it is only his titanic will keeping him alive while he waits for human psychers to evolve strong enough to controll the Astronomican without his constant vigil, at which point he will simply let go of his body. After that...i dont know something star childy i guess.

Codex: Chaos Daemons states the Emperor's protection is the only reason the Chaos Gods haven't taken over the Imperium. I don't have it in front of me, but I do remember it this in particular.
